Default Get back a Marvel property today, at the cost of losing the other for 20 years...

Let's assume Fox decides not to move forward with their FF reboot and Marvel Studios gets the Fantastic family back next year...that leaves two Marvel properties at other studios...

Spider-Man at Sony
X-Men at Fox

If you could pull one of those properties back to Marvel Studios permanently, at the cost of leaving the other at their respective studio for the next 20 years...which would you choose to be a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe?!

I'd want X-Men. Spider-Man is more of a solo character and even in most crossovers he doesn't really fit in. Most of the time he could be cut without really changing the story any. The mutants on the other hand play a huge role in the larger Marvel universe. It is a shame not to have them at Marvel Studios.

That's a tremendous IF that makes your question kind of silly. Fantastic Four is obviously the answer because it would give Marvel/Disney: Galactus, Silver Surfer, and Dr. Doom. That alone would be worth it.

Both Spidey and X-Men work better on their own to be honest. Obviously Spider-Man would be an easier addition at this point but I really don't need either in the MCU. Fantastic Four please!

I'd have to go with Spidey. Spider-man would fit in seamlessly with the existing characters and provide the MCU with another A-List Star. While Sony may deplete the public's desire for solo adventures with their planned 7th installment in 2018, Marvel could make good use of the character with a "New Avengers" franchise or with team-up films.

Though the X-Men Universe has far more characters to play with, there is a downside (XM:TLS, XMO:W) to flooding your cinematic universe with too many superpowered characters. While FOX's X-Men films have been hit or miss, I don't have a problem with keeping the X-Universe separate from the MCU.

I say X-Men. And it's simply a numbers thing - 1 hero and his villains vs. 12 or so heroes and their villains.

Spidey no question. Hate mutants mingling with superheroes. Completely undermines and minimizes Marvel A-listers by having them in a mutant world. Hate most of the crossovers between X-Men and the rest of the Marvel world, aside from some involving Wolverine.

Spider-Man,no question. They ruined things with the reboot. They could do no worse at Marvel.Plus,Spidey is easier to integrate with other heroes.Apart from Wolverine, none of the X-Men are particularly begging for a crossover film.

Fox has done a good enough job.Jackman IS Wolverine to me.DOFP gives me hope that they can reclaim some old-school X-Men charm.

This is tough. Spider-Man, along with Batman, is my favorite superhero and I would love to see him with the Avengers occasionally. But his movies (except Spidey 3) have been glorious to behold so he doesn't need it as much.

X-Men has been getting better, so I don't think they really need incorporation either. Plus it's such a big aspect that it could make MCU a little messy maybe. I agree that Wolverine is the only character I'd really like to see in MCU.

Fantastic Four probably needs it the most. If Fox does reboot it might be good, but it'd be better with Marvel. It's small enough to not mess up the universe, unlike X-Men very potentially could.

So in conclusion, I'd most want Spidey because he'd fit perfectly, FF needs it the most and would also fit very well, and X-Men wouldn't fit seamlessly and doesn't really need to either.

Spider-Man... he's a versatile character. X-Men would be too difficult to deal with.

I went with X-Men, there's more potential there for crossovers and stories than with Spider-Man who has been for the most part decently done by Sony. Spider-Man may have had a dud in Spider-Man 3 but it wasn't the mess X-Men 3 was either.

Another plus about bringing in the X-Men is that you can fully explain Wanda's and Pietro's powers and backstory without having skirt around the whole mutant issue.

I voted Spidey...but it wasn't easy.

X-Men brings with it A LOT of characters and a lot of potential. Of course, that also means a lot of shoehorning into the current MCU and a lot of added complexity to an already complex cinematic universe.

Spider-Man may be just "one hero and his rogues gallery", but it's a hero and rogues gallery that fits right into the current MCU without overly complicating things.

But honestly...I'd really rather have it all back at Marvel Studios!

Spider-man, no question. You could easily throw him on the Avengers.

By contrast, I never felt the X-Men and Avengers mixed well as the X-men are hated but the Avengers are loved... meh. Plus then the question would pop up about why Mutants were never mentioned in the previous movies.

Of course, I would much rather have Marvel get the FF back then either of those two properties.

Spider-Man. MCU doesn't need the X-Men whatsoever and honestly they work better in their own little corner.

Spider-man. The X-Men would be much more problematic to do anything with, whereas Spider-man fits into the setting just fine as is.

X-Men are better alone.

Spidey could work very well with the other superheroes from MCU.

The property Marvel really needs (the most) is Fantastic Four.

That being said, if I had to choose between Spiderman and X Men, I would choose Spiderman without any doubt.

The guy would do just fine in the MCU. He has a rich past with many characters from Marvel properties like Iron Man or Daredevil.

X Men, on the other hand... well, they have kind of their own world in the MCU. They are mutant and so are hunted because they are different... in a world of meta humans. It's kind of problematic..

I'd leave the other two to just get Fantastic Four, but since that isn't the question I'd say Spidey.

Mutants would just be a problem I think in the MCU.

Get Spidey back and you then could have a pretty solid street level side of the MCU in NYC.....have daredevil, the Heroes for Hire, etc all mingle with only slight crossover to the Avengers/Cosmic side of it all.

But then the MCU heroes will have to help deal with mutant problems. And if they don't, they will look like un-heroic mutant haters (i.e. AvX).

Yep. And movie audiences wouldn't be half so forgiving of the contradiction of half the setting being borderline dystopia while the other half is bright and optimistic.

I like the X-Men separate from the rest of the Marvel U, plus DOFP has potential to be the best X-film yet, so why take them from FOX now?

Spidey could work very well in the context of the MCU.

Should have put FF on the list. I'd take that over Spider-Man and X-Men for the next 40 years.

Neither, Other than Spidey 3, X-Men 3 and Origins the other films were well received. Spider-Man is a solo hero and X-Men kind of have a universe of their own...

It's easily Spider-Man for me. It would be cool to see them apart of the MCU, but I think the X-Men work fine as their own standalone universe. Spider-Man would help provide an opportunity to show the street-level heroes. Plus, it only seems right that Marvel should have the film rights to their flagship character.

Neither X-men or Spider-man.

I'd want Fantastic Four back at Marvel.

Mostly so I can see the Skrulls in an Avengers movie.
