Default Raimi's Theme song

VIDEO-CLick to Watch!:
The theme song for Raimi's Spider-man is spectacular. Just listening to it takes me straight back to 2002 and to being a kid again. Does anyone know who composed it? I absolutley love it

Danny Elfman.

It's a killer superhero theme. Up there with Williams' Superman theme imo.

Thanks and I have to agree with you. I still get chills when I hear it, just like the ones I got at the movie theater when I watched it for the first time

More than a theme, Elfman put a lot of different themes together.

The Elfman theme was so unique and full of so much personality. It felt triumphant, slightly sinister and a bit melancholic all at the same time.

The James Horner theme was generically heroic/triumphant to me. Nowhere near as layered or imiginative as Elfman's. Hopefully Zimmer turns this around...

Are we finally agreeing on something lol Yeah it was so unique and I cherish it so much James Horner was pretty much everything you said summed up, but I did really enjoy some of the tid bits of piano, but with Elfman's, I enjoyed every bit of it

Don't get me wrong, there were some bits of Horner's score I liked, but it didn't provide much "atmosphere" to the movie as it were. The Elfman score defined the first Spider-Man movie, for me. I still get chills when Peter is walking away from MJ in the graveyard and the theme music begins playing. It's not just "there" to be there, it enhances the scene and really resonates by being both uplifting and triumphant while simultaneously melancholic and dour.

Elfman's theme had all those different tones only because he mixed many different themes. The main credits theme was more a suite than just a Spider-man theme. In there he put many different musical themes he would use later in the movie(s).

It's a decent theme, but I prefer Horner's. His somehow screams Spider-man more. Horner captured the pure adolescent joy and triumph of being Spider-man. Elfman's more classical sound swelled in proper heroic grandiose, but seemed at times too morose and brooding to truly fit Spidey.

I still love the opening credits to Spider-Man 2 with Elfman's score. It brings me back to my senior year of High School.

That's like going into a general discussion thread and complaining when the topic isn't Spider-Man related (even though it ends up staying on-topic after a few posts).

The whole purpose of this thread is to talk about Danny Eflman's score, whether it be positive or negative. If people wanna bring up James Horner to strengthen their argument of why they liked/disliked Elfman's score, then let 'em.

Nothing here screams fail to me.

Elfman's Spider-man Theme was Great. The most Heroic Theme sinces Williams Superman.

At the time, I was a bit disappointed because it didn't live-up to the standards of the Batman theme. But since then it has grown on me because, as already mentioned, Elfman wrote a lot of layers.

I actually like the Spider-Man theme much more than the Batman one.

Funnily enough, I recall in 2002 that many (including myself) were disappointed that it wasn't as good as his Batman theme from 1989 or Williams' 1978 Superman theme. But those had nostalgia.

Now that enough time has passed--not to mention a lot of generic also-ran superhero themes including both Horner and Zimmer's takes on Spidey--it has a similar amount of nostalgia. It is also a great piece of music that is still very memorable after all these years. I actually like his Peter Parker theme just as much, because it is so altruistic. Both triumphant, but sad and lonely with the horn. Even his Mary Jane and Peter theme has that kind of wistfulness not so much of "first love," but of the rose tinted memory of it. It is a great score all around. One of his best, quite actually.

I love the scores to all 3 movies. Spider-man's theme is awesome. Gives me goosebumps everytime! Then again,so does Ock's...and Venom's...and the symbiote theme.....

Im surprised the composer for SM3 was able to keep up with the quality of the first 2 soundtracks, its very rare to have different composers in a movie franchise that don't completely overshadow eachother.
