Not for me. But for the general audience this might turn out to be the most anticipated. That doesn't translate to success or quality though.

This makes no sense. Neither Iron Man or Avengers were decade old properties.

I can't either because I expect a full "I was wrong for 3 straight years" post from you. Detailing how you were wrong about Marvel not announcing it, wrong that it couldn't work, and wrong that it would bomb at the box office, especially to the tune of only grossing $200m.

We'll find out next year. Even if it does well next year, I'd probably be talking about another obscure character/comic-book series getting a movie and say no word about GOTG's "massive" box-office performance.

There's no way the X-franchise will be as big as Spidey's.

However, once again, after seeing TW, X-DoFP hype is through the stratosphere.

I do think with the right marketing and the right ingredients, X-Men could be as huge as Spider-Man. Who knows if they had those bright and catchy costumes and Sentinels from the 90s, the videogames and the cartoons back in 2000 with the 1st film, this franchise could have been huge right from the beginning.
This. This.... and this.

I'm not saying that X-Men DOFP won't make money, it will make around 600 million but Spider-Man and Batman are the most commercially successful Superheros. Spider-Man 1 made much more money than X-Men. I think it's just that Spidey is more popular and X-Men was the GA's first introduction to these characters but no X-Men film has ever reached Spider-Man level.

people forget that Batman Begins didnt reach 400m, and look what happened with the sequels.

DOFP is a big reunion and thats what will mark the difference compared to previous movies.

and we dont even know how epic and huge the trailers will look, so... all those factors together can make this a really huge movie worldwide. We'll just have to wait for May 2014 to see the first numbers.

How about the last statistic:

Quote:
North America: 'The Wolverine' Is Outpacing 'X-Men: First Class' On Fandango
on July 25, 2013

Fandango reports that The Wolverine is outpacing 2011's X-Men: First Class by an impressive 39% margin at the same point in the sales cycle. First Class debuted to a healthy $55 million in June 2011, so the strong sales bode well for The Wolverine. Hugh Jackman's latest take on the iconic character also accounts for 51% of daily sales on Fandango.

A Fandango survey of 1,000 Wolverine ticket buyers reveals the following:

91% have seen the previous X-Men and Wolverine movies

73% would not want to see a Wolverine film without Hugh Jackman in the title role

70% say the exotic setting has increased their interest in seeing the movie

A whopping 95% cannot wait to see the follow-up film, X-Men: Days of Future Past

Check back tomorrow morning to see how much the film rakes in from Thursday evening shows.

Well hopefully Jackman's got another couple decades on him. I wonder what people would say about RDJ not being in a Iron Man movie as Stark.

The audience I saw The Wolverine with on Tuesday was so much more fun than the audience I saw it with last night when that end-credits scene happened.

Tuesday? Cheers were going up like The Beatles had just reunited.

Last night? They didn't make a sound, other than a few, "Oh, ok..."

Has to be GOTG for me, something about that movie just got me hyped for next year . Though 95% of my comic books had a X on it when I was still into comics, I haven't been that hyped for DOFP yet. Hopefully the trailer changes that

Its way too soon to tell. Though Singer and company have gotten off to a fast start in promoting the film, there are five Marvel films being released that year, including "Big Hero Six" by the animation studio responsible for "Wreck It Ralph". I could just as easily see DOFP competing for the top spot with Spidey as I could see it finishing fourth behind Spidey, CA:TWS (called Avengers 1.5 by some cast members) and GOTG (my most anticipated film). Regardless of where it ends, up FOX certainly appears to be doing all the right things in regards to their X franchise. If the studio would just give up on the FF reboot, I would be a fan for life.

There is something about DOFP that has many people talking. Its trending a lot on social media.

However, it is still the underdog just because. I appreciate that at least X-men has been one of the best cast big movie franchises in history next to Harry Potter and LOTR, despite what some may feel about the casting, the core of the franchise has had some great acting talent.

Spiderman, Batman, and even sups will be bigger simply because they are one, not a team. X-men has a lot of weight and characters to it and that in itself may be its achilles heel, it was since the beginning. But Singer has proven that he can handle large ensemble films.

GOTG will be big simply because its NEW. X-men will be the dark horse for sure but I think Fox and company has a very specific marketing campaign in the works, which started with Singers twitter and now Comic Con. They had us feverishly looking for the comic con footage lol. This film is not being rushed, they may be winding down filming and will have more than enough time for post production.

It will be the first mid night for me since Harry Potter and TDH part 2. And if box office is such a concern make sure you see it more than once. Take people with you to see it! Start a fan support site on social media to get out the money, just like a political campaign.

And one thing that many people, I think, hasnt thought yet is that DOFP is the first big superhero team movie after Avengers massive success.

So the general audience right now is more open and interested in big superhero movies than before.

DOFP will take advantage of Avengers impact. There is a huge audience right now ready for next big event movie. And DOFP IS the next big event movie. So... we are get Big numbers, guys. serious big numbers. The timing is perfect, the cast is perfect, the storyline is the perfect one, and the action will be top-notch. ALL positive factors.

But its NOT the Avengers. The movie is big (in terms of its cast), but people are already used to seeing that with X-Men films. Remember how huge The Last Stand was? Let's wait until an actual trailer comes out and we see how the GA reacts to it.

What made the Avengers big is the fact that you had these superheroes who were featured in individual movies, and suddenly all of them are teaming up in ONE major film. It was something special, something that had never been seen before in comic book movies.

The GA is used to seeing the X-Men together in a big film. Its nothing new. Sure, we have the cast of First Class and the original cast back in one film (which I think is awful since they are trying to tie this back to the old franchise rather than rebooting it), but that is not the same as getting Iron Man, Hulk, Captain America, and Thor together in one team up movie.

I think people's excitement depends greatly on how the film is marketed.

While it is likely that some fatigue is responsible for the softer demand (this is Wolvy's fifth turn as the lead character, after all), the good news is that word of mouth appears much stronger out of the gate for this entry. Flixster users currently give the film an 80 percent approval rating. On top of that, buzz for next year's X-Men: Days of Future Past has been steadily growing over the last few months as one of the most discussed films across social network platforms. Fans are clearly still excited for the future of the franchise, albeit with some cautious optimism. The Wolverine simply seems to have failed to connect with the general audience as strongly as previous series entries, likely thanks to the film's fan-centric premise (based on a popular comic book storyline) and a "been there, done that" vibe. Nevertheless, chalk up an otherwise solid opening to the enduring popularity of Jackman and his interpretation of the character.

Doesn't seem like people outside of the fans are really in love with the Wolverine to be honest. I don't think it really is building anticipation for DOFP. I think the growing hype for the film is coming from the news/announcements and the recent comic con panel.

People shouldn't be surprised with this.

Its the 3rd spin-off movie in a row! And except for Hugh/Famke, its featuring a brand new cast. And its not even a sequel to the 1st two spin-off movies.

Any site that places Transformers 4 at #1 loses credibility. How do movies like, 300: Rise of an Empire, The Smurfs 2, and the Hunger Games make it to that list?
