I'm asking for DC to be represented as well as Marvel has.

While WB/DC rebooted their biggest winner, Marvel launched an entire film universe and owns the big screen at the moment.

I doubted this would be a good decision, and I'm still not totally convinced, but it certainly wasn't a bad idea...that is for sure.

Problem is.. their story was an origins story. BB and TDK were the beginnings of Batman. He was just a rookie in those films. It was Year One. Batman had about 6 months of experience....

And then, they prematurely retired him in TDKR.

It just seemed like Nolan wanted to make sure that WB wouldn't continue his Batman without him, and WB just went along with whatever Nolan wanted.

It was a waste of WB/DC's biggest accomplishment.

This is your opinion, but the story properly retired him. At that point Batman couldn't have gone on as Batman, so it was a good retirement.

I don't follow movie news generally, but I remember reading Nolan, Bale and pretty much everyone said this was a TRILOGY, which meant after that their story was done. None of them had any desire to continue in that world. Now I will agree WB probably asked Nolan to take it out for another spin, and Nolan probably (wisely) said no. I don't know all the ins and outs, and neither do you, so let's make sure we acknowledge we are speculating about these events and we don't know the facts.

I don't see Nolan's work as a waste. I see it as the beginning of someone reminding DC they could actually make decent CBMs. They just needed a little faith, so I see the TDKT as a beginning. I know there are some Nolanites and regular folks who want that world to continue at any means because it is the bestest thing ever in their minds, but I don't think everyone feels this way.

Now back to Jimmy.

give it a couple of years, we are just getting started. As far as i'm concerned TDKT represents DC better than any Marvel Studios movie represents Marvel.

DC rebooted A VERSION of their biggest winner. Marvel made 1 film, Iron Man with an ex-drug addict and a director who kinda scored a girl out of his league with Iron Man. Marvel Studios was lucky both these dudes delivered. Nothing in Iron Man hints the Avengers or a bigger universe except the after credits scene and maybe the Captain America shield on Tony's desk but even that isn't really hinting because nobody knew we were gonna get a Cap movie.

Nolan's Batman isn't the one with a myriad of supervillains at every corner and an Arkham Asylum ready for refill every time some looney escapes. The biggest problem in Nolan's Batman was the incopetent City and the Mob. In BB he begins his crusade, in TDK Joker brings him to his knees and corupts the guy who represents hope and incorruption and by TDKR he does the ultimate sacrifice for his city. Perfect ending of a big arc. Batman isn't needed anymore, i think it was addressed in the film. This aint James Bond were you keep recasting and making more and more. This is different. Each director had his own vision and the universe they built was limited to that vision. And of course Nolan made sure nobody would continue it, what the hell did you expect him to do ? Its called artistry and serious people in the buisness tend to hold strong their artistry.

If he wasn't otherwise engaged, I'd choose Evan Peters.

Alternatively I'd like to see Jay Baruchel get the role.

For the protocoll: Jimmy was never ginger in the old films, or even in the Dean Cain series.
What makes people mention red heads now?

Not to ignore the Nolan stuff, but I don't want to comment on it in this thread and draw it off course.

I'll say this about Jimmy though. In a film that's already overcrowded, there's really no need for Jimmy.

You claim Clark needs a male friend at the DP? What about Steve Lombard?

He's played by a really talented actor that was underutilized AND he's an already introduced character.

with so many new heroes coming in, i guess Jimmy may not make it into the movie.

which is sad... Clark needs a pal in daily planet / metropolis.

Highmore is currently on Bates Motel. He was also Charlie in Michael Jackson and the Chocolate Factory.

That's kinda what Im thinking as well. Had this been a pure MOS 2 , I think there would have been a great in for the character to play a role similar to Blake in TDKR, i.e. a younger pup who believes in Superman and is inspired by him when the rest of the world has turned their on him. Now with all these characters and Grayson potentially playing the "younger idealist" role, I think the focus should be to try to strengthen the Lois and Clark relationship as much as possible with Lombard playing the friend role.
