That scene where she's talking to Nightcrawler on the X-jet is Storm/Halle's best scene in the entire franchise. No power display, no toad-zapping lines. That with Halle tearing up as she has this connection with Kurt was her best scene.

Regarding X3's Angry Storm, it seems Ratner, Vaughn and their writers wanted to rehash storylines from X2 that have clearly been resolved!!! Between Jean picking Scott (to X3 where Dark Phoenix is lusting over Logan) to Storm resolving that Faith can help her survive, not just anger, you would think these people didn't watch the previous (and best) film in the franchise
Nothing in X2 suggests that Storm stops using anger to help her cope with her pain and persecution. All X2 shows is that Nightcrawler introduces the idea of having faith in others as well, VS just relying on herself. It's a thin character arc at best, essentially just there to set up the moment with her and Kurt later on, and far more revealing of Kurt and his motivations and redemption during the film than it makes for any sort of impactful arc for Storm.

I'm curious which X3 people watched where she's "always angry". She's angry in a couple of key scenes. At the beginning of the film when the cure is announced, and when dealing with Wolverine, and in battle. All very reasonable times for her to display this emotion. The rest of the film, she displays a range of emotions...at least, she's written with them and is supposed to. I don't think Halle Berry has a great range, but I also don't thinks he does "angry" very well, so I'm actually kind of surprised people think she's always angry in X3.

This is just not true. Halle is an amazing actress just not in these kind of films. In X2 she gave the best performance in the entire franchise though IMO.

Well, that should tell you something.

I'm glad that Singer's return will seal Storm's "correction", especially since it'll be through his directing (no screeplay finetuning for this character).

It looked good... but I have to say I could tell she might be pregnant because her middle area seemed to be sticking out a lot.

That's what I thought at first when we just had the little thumbnail, but after watching the clip slowly... I think it's just a combination of her arm and the cape that's making it look like that's where her body is when it's not (making her look like a pear).

All they need to do is put trackers in her belly. They could easily flatten Halle's belly. Its just like photoshopping.

AY, in the leaked screen caps, the one with Wolverine next to Storm...it almost looks like she has a mohawk. Looks like she could rock that really well if they went that route.

I like Halle's Storm, but, like so many have already said, the character is underused and should have more impact as a member of the X-men.

She has a very distinctive way of acting and that may not be everyone's cup of tea. Her performance in 'Cloud Atlas' (such a beautiful movie!) is by far her very best, talk about range... .

It is far better than it is made out to be, It's the kinda film that is nice to watch when you have some time off and want to relax, its not taxing and the acting is good in it.

I agree, though the movie is almost 3 hours long, you'll never find yourself bored or distracted. Every little thing fits perfectly together and the editing is simply fantastic and adds a lot to the story. The makers really deserved a big applause for this (and an Oscar). The movie is very ambitious and tackles a lot of symbolism and themes, but it works very well as a whole. Some people call it a mess, but when you've seen it, you'll notice it's actually not that hard to comprehend, because everything makes so much sense as a whole.
