I love Parks & Rec but the show (and most of NBC's line-up for that matter) does not draw a sizeable crowd. At all.

Okay, now you're just being silly. Iron Man, Thor, and probably Captain America were pretty obscure or second tier superheroes and those movies have done just fine.

As far as star power, you are being ridiculous. It has just as much star power as DOFP - Close, Saldana, Riley, Pace, Del Toro, Honsou - not to mention Chris Pratt is pretty well known from Parks & Rec and Karen Gillam isn't some unknown schmoe either.

Benicio Del Toro,Glenn Close, and John C reily are hardly huge box office draws.Vin Diesel If he's part of film Is only voicing a character.

GotG comes out after transformers 4.That's likely to be film kids eat up.

It's one show I mentioned. Together with the rest it is a sizable crowd. That is a very talented cast, they are not no names no matter how much you guys wanna bash it.

Guardians of the Galaxy opening over a month after Transformers 4 doesn't pose a problem for either film. Perhaps if Guardians opened a week before Transformers, or if it featured giant transforming metal monstrosities, then it would be an issue. Otherwise, I think it will do just fine.

Those two shows weren't a big hit right from the 1st season. The Walking Dead was getting decent ratings for AMC, but if you compare the ratings of the 1st season to shows like Modern Family, Once Upon a Time season 1, it was not that huge. And for Parks & Recreation, it took years/seasons for the show to get decent ratings for NBC.

So what? We are not talking about First seasons here we are talking about now. Thats a terrible argument.

You mentioned those shows with GOTG. And as if GOTG is going to have the same path of success like those shows.

No I didnt say that. I said people know those actors from popular shows.

I never said anything about GOTG being like the Walking Dead or Parks Season 1. That is a completley different thing.

Yea I agree. I don't know why first seasons matter. LOL

As for GOTG, Close, Del Torro and Reilly are a good "get" for this movie. That said, the main cast looks to be second-tier actors. Doesn't elicit much confidence. The leaked trailer though looked good.

Which is plenty of time for people to see both movies, if they want. Besides, if anything, Guardians will be taking away from Apes momentum. Not the other way around.

GOTG might suffer from the movies that will be released in July. July 2014 has Malifecent, Fast/Furious 7 and Planet of the Apes. And 1 week before its release date, 2 sci-fi films will be released - Hercules/Jupiter Ascending.

GOTG might perform like Elysium just slightly better. It won't be #1 for weeks since it will be facing Expendables 3, Dracula and Fifty Shades of Grade.

having a hit TV show doesn't mean the GA will be familar with them.

I bet a lot of people will be unfamilar with Emily Vancamp when they see
captain America.I don't even know myself who some of the stars of GotG are.just like I don't know who the characters of GotG are.

Next some people will try to tell me ant-man will destroy the next james bond
film.

If the star power of DOFP doesn't help It then who knows about GotG,

Disagree with what?

Actually, I'm most interested in how Guardians holds up against Fifty Shades of Grey. Are as many women going to flock to the movie, as seemingly with the book? Are they going to take their boyfriends? Or will it simply be a case of counter programming and have no effect on Guardians at all?

If the GA doesn't watch mainstream hit TV then what do they watch?

Even with some of the DOFP cast people know Ashmore, Dinklage and Paquin from TV now, not from the X-Men movies. Thats not a bad thing either. They have been relevant in media since the last X-Men movie was 8 years ago.

Not just the Wolverine.
Just a note. 2 weeks is normally the space between 2 blockbusters. I mean it happens all the time, if it were one week there would be trouble, but 2 weeks is normally them right ammount of time between blockbusters. Doesn't thor and hunger games have a 2 week gap?

And some people have never watched X-Men, Avatar or Avengers. Thats the case with anything.

Game Of Thrones, Doctor Who, Walking Dead and True Blood are extremely mainstream shows. Which means alot of the general audience watches them.
