Default Worst Marvel Studios Film through 2013

Alright guys, given the last poll in here didn't include Thor: The Dark World, I decided to restart this poll with that as an option. Once Cap 2 and GotG are out next year, we can do a new one then, but for now...ENJOY!!!!

My vote still goes to Iron Man 2. The film is great on a character front for Stark, but the villains are pretty weak and Iron Man just never feels like he is in any real danger. It also suffers the most from Avengers build up.

Thor: TDW. How incredibly disappointing.

I haven't seen Thor: The Dark World yet, so my vote goes to Iron Man 2. I've enjoyed all of Marvel's movies so far, but that one has to be the weakest. More focused on preparing for The Avengers than telling a story on par with the first movie's. And Whiplash was a really forgettable villain.

No. The poll disagrees. IM2 for the win.

I also have enjoyed all the Marvel Studios films. But, Iron Man 2 was definitely the sloppiest.

It is either Thor or Iron Man 2 for me. I'm probably leaning more towards Thor.

I thought TDW was worse than all Ironman movie especially Thor's plan to deal with the Aether(so dumb)

It's hard to choose between Iron Man 2 or 3. But Mandarin takes the biscuit.

I liked the rest more or less. And loved Iron Man 1.

Thor: TDW.

The story just felt like nonsense, some characters were written horribly (Odin, Warriors Three), the villain was lame and Portman just seemed to be phoning in her performance. Thank God for Hemsworth and Hiddleston. Without them, Thor 2 would have been straight-up crap.

I loved pretty much all of them except The Dark World. TDW's writing was all over the place, it focused on utterly useless support characters (The Adventures of Darcy, The Intern, and Her Two Boobies), the pacing was like the fast-forward button getting stuck on your remote, there was no emotional impact for any of many (allegedly) emotional scenes, the villains were literally the most useless ones in the MCU to date (let's just say their propensity for suicide was mounted on a species-wide scale), and the "surprise! (not really)" ending was tacked on to satisfy a rabid fanbase, which utterly drained the movie of the one meaningful scene/story arc it had going for it.

I think TDW's ending leaves a very good opening for Thor 3, so I don't agree. With Loki on the throne, we can play a lot with Ragnarok/Asgard in ruins in Thor's absence. Throw in a deal with maybe Hela or Surtur, and Thor 3 could be potentially epic. Many possibilities out there given where the story leaves off.

TDW had several flaws within the script, I would agree. But, I don't think it was nearly as bad as many claim it was by that same token. I don't think we needed Thor to sulk for 20 mins when Frigga died (thought it was fine in the movie) and I think Malekith honestly wouldn't have been much improved with more scenes. The way he was portrayed in his performance I think is more what people didn't like. Even if we knew more about him, he was too emotionally distant for the audience to be engaged in him. But I agree, he was a very standard villain. Nothing special. I think Loki and the visual elements of TDW help it surpass IM2 and made the film very fun for me personally to watch.

I felt that too but haven't seen any others mention it. She was so wooden, there was no chemistry between her and Thor this tine around.

Agreed. Hated how they kept interrupting the final "battle" for adventures of the science squad and Darcy and her boy.

But it's humor! I didn't know this, but apparently we, the audience, are unable to take a whole action and/or violent sequence in a superhero movie if we're not given some humor here and there.

Now, the thing that intrigues me is that, with shows such as the Simpsons (first seasons at least), South Park, Seinfeld, 30 Rock, etc etc, and so many great comedians and writers out there, superhero movies always get some pretty pathetic jokes.

Good:

Just OK:
Thor: The Dark World
Captain America: The First Avenger
Iron Man 2
Thor

I don't think any of the MCU films so far have been bad.

Yeah. And I was a staunch defender of Natalie in the first film; I really enjoyed her performance and thought she had great chemistry with Hemsworth. This time around though, she seemed like she was just... there.

still IM2, which itself wasn't that bad as it gets better with every viewing, escpecially since id ads so much to the U in MCU and expands and connects it so much

Still IM2 for me. I actually really like TDW, though I can understand some of the complaints. IM2's problems all stem from its sloppiness one way or another, which I didn't see with TDW.

I don't need 20 minutes of sulking either, but I need SOMETHING. The ONLY person who seemed to genuinely be upset by Frigga's death, and react to it in a believable way, was Loki. As for Malekith, most people's complaints about him were:
1. His complete lack of ANYTHING resembling actual motivation besides "I'm evil."
2. His lack of backstory or any attempt to flesh him out.

Most people that I've seen think that Eccleston did the best with what little he was given. If they had given his backstory and he had a believable reason to do what he was doing, and there was a REASON why he was so stoic, then people would have been fine with it. And from what I've heard, thy did that in the original script, but then Marvel cut out almost all of the character-building scenes for lame reasons. Also, giving Sif and the Warriors 3 even LESS to do this time after that was one of the big complaints made about the first movie and they spent more time on Asgard in this movie, was just unforgiveable. People want to see more of them and to flesh out their characters, so lets give them LESS to do and LESS screentime, ugh.

As with the previous thread, my vote goes to Thor 2. As a finished product, it left me with the same impression as Prometheus, in that it was a very humdrum, by-the-numbers action/sci-fi yarn whereby the only redeeming quality was the ending, or in other words, the payoff. Outside of the Aether being established and Loki's deception, the movie was sterile and forgettable. Wolverine was one and the same; just another middle-of-the-pack, cliche genre flick that didn't exercise an ounce of creativity or boldness with regard to its plot or characters.

Iron Man.

I cannot watch the film anymore. It is one of the few that becomes worse with each increasing viewing.
