Yeah, I meant second. I feel like Snyder is being manipulated by WB, and Goyer's not gonna have enough restraint to not have Batman upstage Superman.

Not to mention Snyder and Goyer are probably trying to tell WB/DC to give up on bringing Bale back, but they're not listening.

I completely agree. Even with Downey, they took 2 full solo movies to develop Iron Man before launching him into a group movie.

Cap and Thor got a single solo movie each but even in that, their characters were developed and fleshed out far more extensively than in MOS. I still feel I barely know Superman/Clark expect that he is a decent reserved man.

I think they should have had another solo Superman adventure and then a team up film. I really think the character wasn't well developed at all.

Yep. That's why WB wants an older Batman. I'm not ruling out them trying to go TDKR on WF, but I feel like Goyer (and Snyder to an extent) knows that they are peers in most incarnations.

Snyder doesn't have the leverage and clout the way Nolan does. Nolan can pretty much tell WB to go eff themselves while Snyder can't.

Ignoring the actually success of MOS.
I am wondering what people would be saying about WB's decision had they just decided upon a conventional MOS sequel.

Would anyone be saying they should have instead pursued the novelty angle due to the competition? You just can't win with all the fanboys imo.

I wonder how the solo Batman films will fit in time-wise?

WF in 2015,

JL say 2017

Batman 1 - 2018

Flash or WW 2020

and then Batman 2 and JL2 between then and 2024.

WB is as gung-ho to get Batman going as they are JL so it will be interesting to see what they do. Given their history a film every 2 years may not be in the cards so my schedule could be a bit aggressive.

Time out, people are generally won over by that GOG footage leak? I've only seen a few snippets of it but I had no idea to be honest.

Times have changed since the TDK days I think. The minute the racoon and treeman and John C Reilly showed up in self aware fashion I wrote that one off as the Pacific rim of next year. Still, good for them.

That tweet should be more like WB thinks Wonder Woman is too confusing and that DC probably has wanted to do a film for her since Spider-Man 1.

The only way I can see this film realistically competing with Avengers 2 and Star Wars is to get Bale back and put the name Nolan in all the trailers.
Honestly I want a new younger Batman more in line with the Arkham games.

Unfortunately Bale does not seem to be coming back.

Solution? WF does not need to compete with AV2 and SW. Move the release to Christmas 2015. WB is forcing this completion and its not necessary.

But if they move it for Christmas they'll compete with The Hobbit 3 and the new Bond.

Either way, I think they'll need a great trailer with the name Nolan and Bale to compete.

This is probably coming out in Summer 2015 guys. It would not shock me if we get a July 17, 2015 release. WB loves that 3rd Weekend of July.

How about summer 2016? What is the rush? If WB had planned things out a decade ahead as Marvel does this crammed schedule wouldn't be needed.

MOS2 was expected by some to come out in 2016 to avoid specifically the 2015 summer juggernaut.

In any case maybe cooler heads will prevail and WF will be pushed back - especially if WB has issues with Goyer's script. MOS was pushed back from XMAS 2012 to this summer so it can happen.

I will admit that if Snyder and Goyer do want Bale back, but he truly believes that he's 'above the project', I would be disappointed. I mean I'd be like 'get over yourself a bit. Your movies, whilst great, were still very much genre movies. You impressed general audiences with your portrayal, and they associate the character with you.' He should be happy to come back and please everyone. I know Anne Hatheway would.

Let's remember that Snyder actually DID have the clout to tell WB he needed more time to refine the VFX for MOS, and they pushed back the release date. A wise choice I believe and it showed in the effects quality (I will now wait for those inevitable posts about how TERRIBLE the VFX were. 3,2,1...) I think in a film with Supes and Bats they actually may be more (not totally) hands off than many suspect because they want the best from their visual wunderkind.

Release dates do tend to change, so I wouldn't be shocked if the date was pushed back a few months.

I would personally love a WW movie, but I think of how badly Hollywood does female protagonists, and my desire for the film plummets.

Anyone remember the debacle with Salt? That was rage-inducing.

It's coming out in 2015 because WB has nothing else that will be a huge money maker in 2015.
