Yeah, if we were coming off the OT. You are absolutely right. But we arent. There is so much ill will towards the last installments you CANT afford to not take opportunities to build positive buzz. That is why this hurts them.

I can't totally understand if Disney isn't ready to give any info on Star Wars in this year's D23, and perhaps it is Abrams' secretive nature of keeping things under wrap that is preventing Alan Horn from sharing anything with the fans. However, I think the least they could've done was to get either Hamill, Fisher, and/or Ford to the stage and greet the fans. Since it seems like a foregone conclusion that these SW veterans will show up in the new trilogy, I don't think it is too much to ask to get them to the convention and surprise the diehards. It was a mistake for Disney to not do anything Star Wars-related this year imo.

Maybe this Holdiay is when some really big announcements will come in? In the October-December range?

i think its closer to 50/50 now. having no realese date in summer 2013 is strange. no news at D23 2013 for a movie that comes out in 2 years? ouch. ooooooooouch.

It is kinda nerve-wracking in relation to the lack of announcements...

I'm hugely optimistic for Episode VII since I have liked to loved most of the theatrical SW movies so far (with AOTC being the only movie I dislike).

Not to mention I am a fan of both Arndt as a writer and Abrams as a director.

I think it would be really dope if they introduce pink lightsabers.

After watching Super 8, which was amazing, I have even more trust in J.J. to make this awesome.

Given how long it took to get a sequel to Star Trek 09, I wouldn't be surprised if this was pushed back.

Pushing this movie back might come across as a sign of being intimidated by the crowded 2015 summer, even if that weren't the case.

With no formal announcement of casting after months and months of speculation and subtle hints from Hamill, Fisher, and Ford, one has to wonder what might be the reason for any lack of formal announcement.

They haven't? Wow. Pretty much every single teenager I know has seen at least one SW film, just because it's, like, obligatory as a parent (). In this day and age, saying you won't watch something because it's for nerds and geeks is ridiculous

That was simply because of JJ wanting to do Super 8 in between. Nothing more.

It is, indeed, but I also know many people who haven't seen a single SW film because they think it's "not cool."
You'd be surprised how many people set others to ridicule just for liking something they themselves wouldn't.

I personally think that Disney is not too eager to announce anything since SW appears to be a touchy subject ever since Lucas had decided for the new Episodes.

Not seeing any of the Star Wars films is like not seeing any of the classic Disney films like Mary Poppins or Snow White.

It's an institution; and a testament to a persons character.

JJ is not close enough to Williams. That proves he's not doing Episode VII.

That's... Sad. People do that, then they get outside their own social circle and realise how incredibly wrong they could be.

Agreed completely. If I have kids, I'll show them Star Wars at a young age (correcting what my parents didn't think to do in raising me )
