I hope WB does something to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the movie... as it would nicely fit in to the whole 75th anniversary of Batman this year as well.

But somehow I doubt they will. The cast and crew would probably have no interest in ''getting back together'' and WB doesn't seem to be spending much money on special features anymore.

A shame really, If we are lucky we might get a quick re-release on blu-ray with new packaging.

AMC just started playing it again an hour ago, so I decided to watch it and was wondering if it would've been better to have Tommy Lee Jones play Dent here and Batman Forever.

At least we have the 2005 retrospective stuff, which I feel is pretty comprehensive, minus newer interviews with Keaton.

Although it seems like Burton and Keaton are about to finally be united for Beetlejuice 2...crossing my fingers that it happens. Maybe at the very least they'll get with some Batman retrospective questions when they're promoting the movie (again if it happens).

We never got any new interviews from Keaton for the 89 or BR blu-rays all we got was footage from an interview he did specifically for Batman Returns for the tv special, to this day that really disappoints me.

Yes. But on the other hand we have plenty of Nicholson, who rarely gives any interviews.

Well as always fat cat Jack made a whole crapload of money off of 89 and I'm sure he made some more off of the blu-ray, that and we all know how proud he was of his Joker performance.

Nicholson's interview bites on the Blu-ray are pure gold, it's cool to see him beaming with pride about the performance and movie all those years later. I might have to celebrate the 25th anniversary by watching the the BTS stuff soon.

Nothing... all the features were simply ported over.

This quote from Nicholson around 2004 seemed interesting to me. Does it sound like he kinda maybe regrets doing the movie?

Quote:
Around the time of Batman I realised I was fooling around careerwise. It was great work and a great film but I didn't want to be seen as this crazy, Joker figure anymore. I think I had a conversation with myself, a real heart-to-heart, and decided I didn't like people thinking of me as a fool.

I'd done such good work, whether it was Goin' South or One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest or Easy Rider... But I think I was kind of losin' it a little in the quality department. I was doing some movies that I should have backed away from.

Typecasting, being too related to Joker because of how good it was.

But I don't for a second believe he regrets that deal.

I don't recall one other film Jack did after Batman where he played a character even remotely like his Joker/Jack Napier, even when he played a werewolf with Pfieffer in Wolf. I don't see what anyone means about typecasting, I'm pretty sure everything else he did around then was quality (Hoffa, A Few Good Men etc).

Cineplex Digital Film Festival is Featuring a Digitally Restored Batman on the big screen on Feb 5 and or 6, in Canada anyways. Don't know about other areas.

$6.00 admission gets you into classic old and newer films that you may never have seen in the theatre. Last year I saw all three Indiana Jones films with my 11 year and Goldfinger.

That's true. I was not talking about what happened but about what Nicholson said. He was afraid of being identified with the Joker too much - or so I understood - so naturally he did very different things right afterwards.

I saw this picture on a Batman facebook page and thought it was pretty awesome, it also reminded me of the fun fact that West was upset that they didn't cast him as Batman and declined to appear in a cameo in 89 as Thomas Wayne in the alley scene.

I think it would've been awesome to see West in 89, it's too bad he didn't do it.

I don't think any of the '66 cast had anything nice to say about the movie.

There is footage somewhere that I've seen, I think from the VHS Bat-Mania that shows some of the 66 cast at the Hollywood premier of 89, where did you hear they didn't like it?

Burgess was there as I don't think he was too fussed one way or another.

This clip shows their general attitude towards the movie in 1989:

@6:00

VIDEO-CLick to Watch!:

Notice how Burgess is laughing during it and mentions that ''we haven't seen it yet''.

I've got Adam West's autobiography, Back to the Batcave. He definitely didn't like it. I'd love to have found out what the others in that video thought after they'd seen it. Burgess was the only one who seemed to defend it saying they haven't seen it yet when the others were knocking what they'd read about it. He looked really enthusiastic at the premier:

"Evil version of Batman!" LOL! I know some haters of the Burton batfilms that believe that statement.

West, Romero, and Newmar all seemed bitter in that vid. B89 was a reality check for West that his "schtick" as Batman was OVER. And that Batman had changed with the times. He really needed to get over the fact that TPTB made a Batman movie without him as the title character. I guess he was also irked that Robin wasn't in there, Keaton had a cooler car and suit, and didn't do the "Batusi", or have a rubber shark sucking his leg, etc. Can't imagine how they'd react to the Nolan Trilogy? At that time Batman had changed so much in the comics from the 60s that it was time for the movies to reflect that. And Batman has continued to evolve both in the comics and TDKT.

And to be fair Nicholson was guilty of having a similar attitude toward Ledger's Joker.
