What about the MGS2 debacle? People who complained about being betrayed by the Mandarin twist need to remember that mess and realize what REAL trolling is.

Bwahaha! The only people who think Raiden was some sort of debacle totally missed the point. Good analogy though! Very fitting for the Mandarin situation.

Galactus as a storm was awful. Blackheart being a shadowy emo rock band reject was worse, but Venom got the worst treatment.

Not only was portrayed by scrawny twirp Topher Grace, but he was introduced and killed off in the last 15 minutes of Spider-Man royally pissing off just about everybody and solidifying Spider-Man 3 as a complete and total failure. I lost all respect for Sam Raimi after that beyond creative decision.

I gotta go with Cyclops. That slap hurt the worst because the first two X-Men were so good, but Cyclops got shafted so hard.

I agree! One of my favorite X-men. He got shafted in 2 as well, being captured with Xavier and not being useful at all in the end. It just had to become the Wolverine show (In 3 Wolverine acted a lot like Cyclops too, btw).

Definitely Cyclops. The other one would be Sandman being the real killer of Uncle Ben. It was the biggest slap in the face, because Raimi got the Ben death scene perfect in Spider-man 1.

Cyke was poorly handled but certainly not a slap. A slap is where a character is nothing like the comic and/or a pain to watch.

Thats Gah Lak Tus, Mandarin ect..

Although I hated Cloudactus, his motives were still like the comics, it was simply his visual form was where they messed up. Actually, and some fans actually try to deny this even though it's obvious and in your face but when Surfer is flying into the heart of the cloud thing, you can see a kind of flaming image of Galactus, his upperhalf or helmet at least. It's like they had him hiding within that cloud for the movie version.

It's not that they just didn't reveal the twist pre-movie, it was that they lied in print about who/what the character was, giving Kingsley's character an elaborate backstory which never existed in a bid to preserve the surprise of the twist.

Uh, what? That's exactly what Cyclops was, nothing like the comic (and especially a pain to watch in X3). Mandarin was at least mixed and matched between several different versions of the source material. Galactus served his purpose as the destroyer of worlds and the Surfer's master.

Cyclops from the page was there in name only.

yeah galactus was a huge one. it's like they said, "don't worry we will show him in the sequel, this is just a tease". at least i got to see the silver surfer somewhat.

x-men costumes. one of the most colorful teams in comics and they are reduced to black zip up suits. also cyclops was a waste, but at least i got to see his optic blasts. wolverine's height is another. can't have a little man complex if you are over 6ft. jean not flying.

x-men first class was just bad. the worst was the code name scene. they just matter of fact pull names out from the air. "we'll call you prof. x and magneto".

loki not flying, thor no helmet, thor not opening portals with mjolnir, he uses a machine instead.

Viper and Silver Samurai. Now I have nothing against modifying characters to fit the new medium, but even by Fox's standards of reimagination, turning those two into a literal snake lady and a freaking robot is just plain messing with us. Dropping them willy-nilly into The Wolverine was like seeing Clayface and Man Bat show up just as Joker attacked Dent's conboy in TDK.

Exactly. Cyclops should have been around more. At least he did get some leadership scenes in the first movie

Cyclops looked like cyclops and his character & relationships with Xavier, Jean, Storm and Wolverine were spot on, only his diminished role was the problem.

Viper was intergral to the story and was shown throughout the movie. Neither were done accurate to the source but only SS at the end was dropped in all of a sudden.

Wasn't a great scene, but seriously how and why else are they gonna decide to suddenly start going by these weird names?

The CIA thing made somewhat sense of something that would never naturally occur.

Cyclops relationship with Jean is pretty straight forward, hard to mess that up. His relationship with Storm was literally nothing beyond the fact that they are teammates. The depths of his relationship with Professor X was only hinted at while Xavier was in the infirmary during the first film. And his relationship with Wolverine never evolved beyond the fact that he's the butt of Logan's jokes and they dislike each other.

How about the fact that Cyclops is a leader, and a bad ass, and trained daily for battle in a peacekeeping army since he was a teenager. How about the fact that Wolverine actually respects Cyclops? His diminished role is far from the only problem concerning the characters silver screen adaptation.

Lose respect on the producers, man. These producers think they know what's right and like to try spinning a director's view in a different direction and, unfortunately, it worked on Raimi for that third film. They forced in the symbiote and Raimi didn't understand how to introduce it. That being said, I still enjoyed the movie a bit more than Spider-Man 2, just not as much as Spider-Man, mainly because the action scenes are all incredible, I do respect the actors and filmmakers on the set so the acting was good and the editing was decent, it just felt like it was missing something, a final swing would have been a nice cap to the trilogy (even though I do like the quiet ending with Mary Jane and Peter, as I thought their relationship this time around was much better written than with Spider-Man 2 IMO). This one was just icing on the cake for me, the original two, the original being my favourite live-action Spider-Man film yet, are amazing. This new film, The Amazing Spider-Man, not so much.

The fact that they can't cast younger adults in these roles for Spider-Man makes me sick. I could understand back in 2000 not having a young kid take a lead role, but look what it did for Harry Potter. The actors stuck around, because they grew with their characters. Can't we have recognizable actors play in more original material for a change and cast lesser known actors for these major parts in superhero roles? When Marvel Studios gets the rights to Spider-Man, I hope they make a 6 film saga, like the Harry Potter series, that lets Peter and his friends grow out of high school and into university, and have it be believable. To do that, I think Brad Bird would be a perfect director.

That's what I'm hope for, because this new Spider-Man film did nothing. What happened to his parents didn't matter because it had no resolution within this film, the music was overdone, the editing was incoherent (there are many missing scenes that would have been better cut into the film, rather than out), the love story between Peter and Gwen is straight-up filler (they can't even muster up one decent dialogue scene for them, every bloody scene is reminiscent of the dead beep on a heart monitor), the action scenes between Spider-Man and The Lizard last a minute then cut to something else then another minute after they cut to Stan Lee (in his coolest cameo ever) then another minute of fighting and then a big, CGI cluster at the end. To put it bluntly, this film had no earthly idea what the hell it was trying to be.

Not very satisfying. It's as if Transformers met Twilight and had a baby on a couple of Spider-Man comics that the producers laid their filthy hands on. That's how The Amazing Spider-Man was born.

I didn't mind Silver Samurai being a giant robot. That comes with the territory when studios try too hard to make comic book movies COOL!

I had a bigger issue with Kenuichio not being the freaking user! It was like The Mandarin twist again except not as sh**ty.

You just summed up two of the reasons on why I don't like Bryan Singer.

At least the current X-Men comics have Cyclops be an important character more than he was in the movies. It's interesting seeing the contrast between the Cyclops who's young and heroic to the seasoned older Cyclops who's seen some serious ****.

The older Cyclops has been written worse than film Cyclops. It was bad enough he was friends with Magneto, but even worse that he became Magneto's doppelgänger (remember the panel where Magneto even points out said mirroring?) Sure, these moments came before and during AVX, but they are of recent enough vintage to reinforce my point. Admittedly, I have not read the Now! Titles for some time due to budgetary reasons and the headache that was Battle of the Atom causing me to lose interest in current X-Men titles and delving into the Seventies era publications. Still, it is important to note that the current comic Cyclops has not been painted favorably consistently.
