Mark Strong I believe is a strong choice; it would also mean he would be putting the embarrassment of Green Lantern behind him. Otherwise... Jason Clarke?

Interesting choices for Lex. Though Joaquin is more suited for Harvey Dent or Black Mask.

I like Clark as an actor but he might be suited more for a mob boss like Black Mask or Two-Face.

I'm trying to think of a role Phoenix would not be wasted in.

Nah, he had a certain American ruthlessness and belief in his own righteousness in Zero Dark Thirty that I think is more suiting for Lex. Mark Strong is the one who is better suited for a mob boss or someone like Black Mask.

I know many people have said this, but it's such a shame Kevin Spacey was wasted on a movie like Superman Returns where he was basically just asked to copy someone else's previous performance. He would be perfect for ruthless, corporate Lex in an actual good film.

Indeed. Although it was before my time, from what I understand, he demonstrated many of the characteristics of that version of Lex when he played Mel Profit on Wiseguy.

I haven't had the chance to check out the series yet but apparently he is very "Lex-like" in House of Cards.

Kevin Spacey played a better Lex Luthor in Swimming With Sharks than he did in Superman Returns.

Waltz is the same age as Cranston and people had an issue with that.

I like Waltz for the role though.

He looks less rugged than Cranston, ergo a bit more youthful, but I'd still want a Lex that's at most 15 years older than Supes, or (more accurately) an actor that looks at most 15 years older than Henry.

Ben looks the right age Lex should be.

But Waltz has this natural eccentricity vibe to him. Like he's a man who's gone crazy from too much money and power. ..sort of like Richard Branson

No, I'd probably like him, but considering I had a problem with Django because Schultz was the same character as Landa, I'd prefer someone else.

Wait, what??? They couldn't possibly be any more different.

Even if that were true, does that mean you had a problem with There Will Be Blood because Plainview is the same character as Bill the Butcher from Gangs of New York?
