Default Should Sony try to adapt the Clone Sagas?

Admittedly my only experience with concepts from the clone saga are from the 90s Spider-Man cartoon, what I have read from the various wikis and Ultimate Spider-Man(Jessica Drew is criminally under-utilized and Scorpion could have been a much more memorable villain), but I think a very interesting story could come out of taking bits from 616 and 1610 and making that it's own thing for the current movie universe especially when Andrew Garfield is close to done (rather than yet another reboot) obviously tease at it before Andrew's final movie and have Andrew's Spider-man validate their use of his powers/identity so it doesn't feel like an ass pull

What I'd want to see:
-1610 Ben Reilly(scientist not a clone) works on the Parker/Spider-man blood sample to cure diseases but disillusioned when he discovers the CIA/DOD/OsCorp/whatever are using the bio-tech to create "persons of mass destruction" for wars and/or super-terrorism. Eventually he gets the heroes call and gives himself spider powers becoming something like one of the 616 Slingers or 616 Scarlet Spider(a re-imagined Scarlet Spider costume, or something inspired by Ben Reilly Spider-man suit works for me though) *Miles Morales venom blasts optional **Donald Glover???

-1610 Spider-woman with the "deliberately engineered" clone origin, costume and organic web shooters, regardless of whether or not Jessica Drew & Spider-woman names can be used (May "Mayday" Parker & Spider-Girl/Scarlet Spider names work for me) *Miles Morales venom blasts optional **Could Sony adapt 1610 Jessica Drew/Spider-woman AND use those names? I doubt marvel is going to use the names and they seem to be on good terms with Sony and Sony did let Fox use Kingpin in Daredevil so who knows...

-616 Mac Gargan as a sane Scorpion getting powers more or less the same way as this universe's Ben Reilly but in a more deliberate and engineered fashion like in 616, with a mechanical suit like 616 Smythe has created. Between the purposeful genetic engineering and mechanical suits Mac should be superior to any of the single Spider-persons in both stats and one on one combat but not necessarily unbeatable one on one but preferably not beaten solo

-Venom Symbiote with 1610-ish origin but as an eventual upgrade for Scorpion kinda like they have done recently in 616 making him unbeatable solo and mostly unbeatable duo(but all 3 spider heroes can get it done in the explosive third act finale)

-Morbius with an origin close to the 90s cartoon as a sequel hook

IF ANYTHING LIKE THIS WAS TO HAPPEN
-What would you want to see?
-What would you not want to see?

So, somebody here wants a 40 hour film. That said, Jessica Drew should pop up at some point in the series but Black Cat, Venom and Silver Sable seem like higher priorities.

Would be really hard. But they have the foundation to do it with evil empire Oscorp trying to get Peter's DNA.

I don't know, they could but I don't know. I suppose if you want a Spider-Man Cinematic Universe that would be a sure way to do it lol.

I don't see any reason not to. Sony want to expand their Spider-Man universe so something like this is bound to happen at some point

Do they have the rights to Jessica Drew?

Star Wars is probably the only thing that I can stand clones being in, otherwise it's a horrible gimmick if it's used in any other franchise/series.

I was thinking there would be a lead in movie establishing clones and the clone saga as a sequel hook Similar to the scene in USM where that Ben Reilly grabs a vial of Spider-Man's blood to kick off the clone saga.

Then the next Spider-man movie would be the first clone saga movie(Spider-man: Clone Saga or Spider-man: Enter The Clones or Spider-man: Send In The Clones)

-Introduce Ben Reilly/Miles Morales proper as a scientist who believes he's working for the betterment of mankind along with Dr. Michael Morbius Ph.D and others but gets wise to the deception and puts it on himself to right these wrongs as a Slinger or Scarlet Spider, including his clashes with the organisation he works for and antagonistic clones. -Introduce Spider-woman/Spider-girl maybe her first task is to take out Ben Reilly/Miles Morales before her heel face turn. Show Spider-woman/Spider-girl's struggles with trying to evade the organization that made her, and their top enforcer Mac Gargan, AND the whole being a female clone of a man.

The second clone saga movie should cause a feeling of escalation as Mac Gargan grabs the Venom Symbiote at then end of the first movie(Mid Credits scene?) and become too much for our Heroes to handle solo but he succumbs to the full team effort add some heroic self sacrifice from Peter's clones thus wrapping up the clone saga story
*show Morbius transformation as its sequel hook for the Ben Reilly/Miles Morales spinoff with him trying to save his friend and colleague

There is a whole host of great characters from the mythos that we will never be able to see done justice within Andrews run unless they are supporting cast or antagonists in spin off movies imo

It seems almost certain that Marvel Studios has the rights to 616 Jessica Drew, from discussions I read elsewhere but Sony has the rights to option just about anything that's from the Spider-man IP including Ultimate Spider-man so maybe a similar setup as Wanda and Pietro but even if Sony couldn't use "the Jessica Drew and Spider-woman" names there would still be other viable options from the Spider-man I.P. like May "Mayday" Parker & Spider-Girl/Scarlet Spider

NOT THAT.
That's for damn sure....

Seriously the "Donald4Spiderman" campaign needs to die. For soooooooo many obvious reasons.

Ummm....no. It was bad enough in the comics. How about we adapt some of the good stories first?

Pod-Person/Clone/Doppleganger narratives require an expert hand in writing them. Why question is not if, but when? If, for instance, Orci and Kurtzman (or writer(s) of the same calibre) are onboard, then, sure. If, it is one of the writers lower on the totem pole of quality, then, no.

My best guess has always been that Sony had the right to "Spider-Woman" but that Marvel had the right to character Jessica Drew.

Absolutely. The Ultimate Universe turned the Clone Saga into something really cool and interesting, I've no doubt that Webb and Co can do better. Plus, this is how we get Ben Reilly/Scarlet Spider, a great classic character and potentially Spider-Woman if they can go the Ultimate route with her. Very cool.

I think dealing with the clones could be an awesome storyline in a Sinister Six sequel, with perhaps Doc Ock being behind it, and that carrying over from an Amazing Spider-Man movie. By the time those two movies are done, everything should have shaken out, and Ben Reilly and clone Jessica Drew should be the only things left standing.

I don't know about the Clone Saga, but if it mostly Spidey related, shouldn't it move to the Spidey forum?

I'll answer that with an emphatic yes. I didn't care for the one with the Jackal either(very lame way to invoke Gwen Stacy's death), but the follow-on clone saga was especially atrocious. The 90s really gave way to some of the worst stories in the medium's history if you ask me.

There's a zero percent chance they'd try to adapt that convoluted, awful mess of a story onto the big screen. I have trouble even calling it a "story", it was an awful mess of loosely connected storylines and retcons. You could tell they were making it all up as they went.
So no, I doubt they'd try to adapt that atrocity unless they had cranked out twenty previous films and were scraping the bottom of the bucket for material. Even then I think they'd pass it over.

I think they should go with people getting powers from spidey's dna but not straight up clones.

The Jackal is one of my fav Marvel characters and if he can get a decent script, actor & director then yes I'd like to see a Clone saga film.

I wonder who could pull of a decent Miles Warren?

Always thought Dexter actor John C Hall maybe a good choice.
