It HAS NOT been confirmed that Brian Tyler is scoring A:AOU. It is ONLY A RUMOR at this point.

His Thor main theme is appropriately epic, but not memorable at all. I was hoping he would use and expand upon Sons of Odin. His Iron Man 3 stuff was pretty good though.

I'm glad Henry Jackman was smart enough to reuse Cap's theme from the first movie because it's on the verge of being iconic, and so is The Avengers' main theme. Which is why I wanted Silvestri back.

Brian's assassins creed 4 is one of the best soundtracks I've ever heard in a video game. I'm terribly excited. I hope he keeps the main theme though for the avengers because I love a bit of an iconic theme to hum to (when was the last time we had an iconic theme? Harry potter?)

Pirates of the Caribbean. The Hunger Games has a pretty good one too.

Lol! I remember thinking this the theater too, but the first few notes of that Capitol Theme is basically the opening Rivendell motif from LOTR.
VIDEO-CLick to Watch!:

The Marvel fanfare is vaguely similar too, but not really the same (for music theory nuts: it's a major chord with a 5 - flat6 - 5 melodic progression).

I got to be honest, I'm a little disappointed it's not Silvestri.

I like Tyler's work and I think he does great scores and all, but if he does not use Silvestri's theme, I will be very unhappy. I think these movies need stronger, unifying themes.

Obviously you can't have one composer doing all of these films, but it'd be nice if you could have like some more unifying, cohesive themes.

Aww really?

I'm probably in the minority here but I thought IM3's score was very Meh(with a capital M) along with Now You See Me. Both are very forgettable and uninspiring to me. Thor: TDW was good though and I was grinning when the score came on in the cinema.

Very disappointed Alan Silvestri's not coming back.

Same here. I liked the theme in the Avengers and sadly that will probably not be in AoU. He better come up with something great because I can't remember any part of the scores for IM3 and Thor:TDW.

Disagree with the poster who said he 'finally' gave IM a theme in IM3. I'm one of the seemingly few that liked the music in the first IM, got me pumped up. Also, the theme for Asgard in the first Thor was pretty good as well.

I agree with your disagreement. Iron Man's real theme wasn't the generic score Brian Tyler made, it was:

VIDEO-CLick to Watch!:

or

VIDEO-CLick to Watch!:

or pretty much any Classic Rock. I liked that Iron Man had Black Sabbath or AC/DC as his soundtrack. I mean guys seriously what would've sounded better when Iron Man took down Loki in The Avengers? The AC/DC or Brian Tyler's generic score?

I take it this is sarcasm. Either way, I was talking about Ramin Djawadi.

Well if Tyler is doing this, he better keep Silvestri's theme. It's partly by reuse and familiarity that a tune becomes iconic. If it's just heard once, then it's not had the chance to catch on and become truly associated with the franchise.

He can write his own theme for Ultron but should retain the Silvestri theme.

Exactly this! I'm so glad they reused Cap's main theme in the opening to TWS. Even if that is the only time it ends up being used in the film, using it at the very beginning was a brilliant move.

I hope Brian Tyler finds appropriate places to use The Avengers main theme in AoU. Hopefully near the end when the team does AoU's equivalent of the circle scene.

Seriously pay no attention to that guy. Who doesn't remember Stark working on the suit during "Driving With The Top Down" ? Or his first flight in the Mark II

If the first IM had no theme then I don't even want to know what you would call the theme of IM3.

And the first Thor music, I still listen to that frequently. It goes from these cool bombastic and epic tunes to the more intimate. Hearing "Thor Kills the Destroyer" during the end credits as we travel through the galaxy and end up with a view of the Yggdrasil, come on man.

not a fan of Brian Tyler.

I think he will. Even though Iron Man 3 and Thor: The Dark World didn't re-use any of Djawadi, Debney or Doyle's material -- Tyler used a snippet of CA's theme in T:TDW in that scene.

Plus... Tyler's had a habit of bringing back themes. When he took over scoring duties for the last two Final Destination movies after Shirley Walker passed away, he used her theme in both. Ditto for Rambo, he brought back Jerry Goldsmith's theme.

The first Avengers was a massive success, and I think Whedon would insist Tyler keep Silvestri's main theme.

I kinda wish Marvel would think outside the box. Like how Tron Legacy had Daft Punk and Oblivion had M83. Really great scores.

Although i loved "Can You Dig It" from IM3. And the main Avengers theme is great too.

I agree with you but not for the avengers. The avengers deserve a big epic orchestral music score.

For some of the spin offs it might be interesting though. Still, I get that pretty much everyone is ok with orchestral music but some music is a huge turn off to other people (heavy metal for example or pop). I mean, these movies have to appeal to as many people as possible

Cant go wrong with what I call triumph and glory cues in these movies. The music should match the scope of the film. Epic Epic Epic is what I want.

Sounds impressive mentioning those films scores, but i can't even think of what IM3 or TDWs scores sounded like. So i'm not optimistic, using Caps theme again though would be cool.
