This article made me feel like such a douche :/

If he's the best actor for it, then screw it, he should get the job.
good for you 'schach.

i honestly don't care who gets cast so long as that person has the charisma and acting ability to knock it out of the park.

I really do not want to see Grayson or the rest of the Bat-Family in the upcoming film. It's bad enough that a Superman sequel has been derailed in favor of a versus film, but to the insult would be worsened if any member of the Bat family appears. It should be a Superman and Batman film, not a Batman Film Featuring Superman. It's bad enough he was reduced to a murderous thug in MOS - which took me a while to get over, and I have-but, to rob valuable screentime away from him would be another twist of the proverbial knife.

That terrible thug saved the earth and spent many offscreen instances saving lives. But nah, a cameo from Nightwing would derail MOS2/Superman-Batman like a Hawkeye cameo derailed Thor

So 4 Superman characters and 2 Batman characters fighting a Superman villain in a plot likely set in motion by the events of Man of Steel = Batman movie featuring Superman.

Also, murderous thug? Come on...

Really, honestly DNW Bagley as Nightwing. Dude's a lightweight actor, IMO.

Now, Ezra Miller's my bag, baby! He absolutely destroyed WNTTAK and stole scenes from Tilda Swinton. He's also great in Perks… I'd dig him or Driver as Nightwing.

But no to Gossip Girl Dick Grayson. YOU HEAR ME WB?!?!

penn is a good actor, what he doesn't have is ezra's charisma. whatever "it" is, that boy's got it in spades.

I'm just thrilled we might be going to see Nightwing on the big screen. Favourite character, bar none.

Whoa. Those were my two suggestions! Please be true!

Spoiler!!! Click to Read!:

I think they need a guy who could play young-mid 20's, so I nominate 27 year-old Penn Badgley. He was great in Margin Call.

Ezra Miller's a great actor as well.

Both of them would be fine. I just vastly prefer Ezra's look for it, and I think he's a superior actor. He's going to be one of the heavyweights once he gets older

Plus, a great fan thing about Miller is that if the TVverse is connected, Grayson (21), a teen titan, would be younger than the Flash (23).

(that being said, if the TVverse is connected, I doubt Miller would appear on TV, though Badgley might).

I would also like it if Grayson actually gets the Nightwing name in this movie, from Superman.

1. There is a considerable difference between Grayson and Hawkeye. Grayson is the most prominent of the two and well to known audiences. thanks to heavy exposure over the past few decades (Batman 1966, Batman Forever, Batman: TAS, and so on); before the Avengers, Hawkeye was not. His screen coverage was limited in Thor; if the Avengers was not made, he would be not be remembered as fully.

2. My second point feeds from this: with a prolific character such as Grayson, a cameo would not occur. He would become a supporting player in the film's narrative. I seriously doubt DC would keep Grayson on the sidelines of the action of Batman versus Superman. Hence, they would keep him in the narrative, which would eat up even more of screentime that should be allocated to Superman.

3. There has been a progression of reducing the screentime for Superman. First, the film project was MOS 2. Then, it became Batman and Superman, which reduced 50% of the narrative focus/screentime that should be allocated to him. If they follow the traditional model for a vs film - and which they should, since they are resurrecting a novelty in storytelling (name on good versus film. There are none)-it equates to each character getting around 50% of the screentime, unless they try the format of AVP/FVJ, which they have no need to, since it is not a horror film.

4. I have a different aesthetic on violence in superhero films than David Goyer. While he is a is a wonderful writer, he sees killing as the only way to stop supervillains. In the case of Batman, he wriggled around and had Batman create circumstances that caused the death of characters - leaving R'as to die on the train, knocking Dent off the building, and so on-with the exception of Talia. Okay, whatever.

But Superman, who has god-like power has no need to kill. As Superman vs the Elite showed, there are alternative ways to dispatch villains without snapping their freaking necks. Part of the reason I was hoping the project was going to be a Man of Steel sequel was because I was hoping they would follow a trajectory similar to Arrow: have the character relinquish his murderous impulses and become an elightened, idealized hero. However, since they decided to sacrifice it for currently looks like a 1950's B-film slugfest, it seems unlikely they will follow the trajectory.

The dude from Gossip Girl certainly has the look for Grayson, but I haven't seen his work. Ezra is now my choice, always was, but I just didn't think he was in the running or that they would go the route of Nightwing right away. Now if it's true that he's for sure in the running, he has to get it.

I'm not familiar with their acting chops, but Badgley (at least) has the right look.
