Is Cranston's performance on BB, the greatest performance ever given on a tv show? I think it might be.

Yes. It is. That's not an opinion. It's a fact.

In other news, Bryan Cranston is playing Lex Luthor, Emily Blunt is Wonder Woman, Benedict Cumberbatch is Martian Manhunter, and that guy from Teen Wolf is Batman.

Let's not forget about James Gandolfini as Tony Soprano.

Oh, there are many who have come close. But Cranston trumps all. Look on his works, ye Mighty, and despair.

Remember his name.

The Wire is an amazing show, argued to be the best ever, but there are no performances on there that rival Cranston's.

At this point, it's a fact not an opinion. Cranston's acting in the most recent episode "Ozymandias" was heartbreaking, cold, and any other synonyms for those words. With that said, HE IS JIM GORDON. I'm not against him as Lex, but man he just is Jim Gordon.

I'm not sure. It was on Smallville but it happened after I stopped watching the show. It was mentioned in a really good article a few months ago that chronicled the multiple times Superman killed people before MOS. If I can find it again, I'll send you the link.

Perhaps.

But we must also not forget Jake Busey's incomparable performance in Shasta McNasty.

I think he can bring more as Gordon than as Luthor, simply because he would be playing against the Walter-White type. And because he played him before (as a voice actor), and looks the part

So yeah, BC as Gordon for me too

Yeah, my only complaint about Cranston as possibly being Lex is he'd be too much like Walter White/Heisenberg.

Heisenberg vs. Cumberbatch's Sherlock.

Who ends up on top, factoring in that they're both at the top of their game and haven't slipped up yet.

I've watched every single episode of Breaking Bad, and Cranston delivers in every single one of them in a way I've witnessed no actor do before. Calling him merely talented is the understatement of the year. Good Lord, he can send chills down your spine when he goes all out as Heisenberg ( glasses and the hat, BB fans know what that means).
He can turn from a loving family man that really truly is willing to walk on fire for his family, to a hard, ruthless, uncompromising and downright cruel and scary badass in a heartbeat. Few actors can pull of what does on Breaking Bad, where he's gone all out bad guy, and still can make you feel for him. The phone call on last weeks episode is a testament of that, just check it out if you haven't it's worth it.
That ladies and gentlemen is the mark of a great actor, and something that Lex Luthor is in need of. Forget this Gordon stuff, it would be a wasted opportunity to have someone like Cranston in a role like that. He's Lex all the way. This is someone who can torture Superman with Kryptonite and still make you feel that he has a legitimate reason for doing so, not matter how evil his actions, Cranston is THAT good.

I'm willing to overlook his age, his acting would raise the new movie to new heights, even, dare I say, on level with Ledgers Joker. That's right, I went there.

I don't even think Cranston is "superb" on Breaking Bad. At this point, he's on the whole other level.
