I think prosthetics would work well instead of a fully molded mask too. You'd get a little more of the actor through the "mask", and textures can be more easily cheated to make it look like one solid piece of molded fabric/material that flows into the cape while still maintaining mobility and lack of seams. I never liked the way the mask in the movies was a separate part from the cape, even when Nolan logically turned it into a more of a helmet. I want it to work like it does in the comics and cartoons, even if that doesn't make a lick of sense in the real world.

Incidental side-note: I am totally open to them closing the face up like Batman Beyond. Especially if they use modular prosthetics for the "mask" and we could have the actors mouth actually show through despite being hidden behind the "mask".

I may be wrong but I'm pretty sure it's from the Deadpool vs Batman youtube fan-made video.

Agreed totally, the cape and mask should be one, or at least the same colour. Also I'd be completely up for a pull-over mask, in fact that's what I want rather than the -helmet type mask that he pulls off that we've had in the movies so far. Prosphetics could be interesting. I'd like to see an attempt at the white eyes, but I prefer them to be so Batman can turn them off if need be, or have them act like sonar or something rather than wearing them all the time.

That is correct.

It isn't quite perfect, as you realise when you watch the full sequence (the "fabric" is a little too stiff and a little too loose-fitting, which looks somewhat clumsy) but it is a good example of what can be achieved by working with fabrics rather than rubber, even for a modest budget.

Apart from an ill-advised attempt to borrow some of the uglier aspects of the Arkham suit, the costume used in the porn flick was also reasonable.

That there should be totally feasible to pull off with the MOS material, right?

Exactly. The only difficulty which the Batsuit seems to consistently have- and which the Superman suit obviously does not- is the cowl/neck/cape area. Ideally, it should be sculpted, mobile and continuous. A solution has yet to be found.

Yeah indeed, it's quite funny isn't it? that a semi-proffesional video made by a fan and most of the porn movies have more comic-accurate costumes than the movies. These two clearly give an idea on how fabric can work well, without having to look goofy or cheesy and not believable.

In the batman vs Deadpool video, though the suit does look pretty loose in some shots, I still totally bought that it was protective. Which is really all you need the audience to believe, and you don't need armor plates to do that.

Yes.

Just change up the texturing on it, make the padding underneath have a more techy, inorganic look; and add some detailing to it to nail in the illusion of solid armor pieces being in places underneath.

Yup, it's a Bat in the Sun production. They do excellent work!
Notice the cape/collar/cowl arrangment on Batman in this particular video, giving his head freedom of movement while appearing to be all one peice.

Would someone do a manip of the Batman Returns (my fave batsuit) with the new emblem on the chest and a more practical/realistic belt? The first Burton suit was great IMO except for the muscles. This has a bit more of a armored look without being to armor-y. A newer, perhaps streamlined version of this (with a moveable neck of course) would be ideal for me. I love the length of the ears on the cowl and the sinister look of the brow area.

The grey is a little too dark, but I like it otherwise. They even made the undies work

The smaller the ears the better.

That really doesn't make any sense. If you are saying they serve no purpose, then they should just go altogether. Diminutive ears, like the invisible Bat symbol, are redundant because they are unable to meet the purpose for which they were intended.

I think it is obvious enough that the "ears", along with the cape and the fins on Batman's gauntlets, are intended to contribute to the otherworldly appearance of the costume, thus intimidating "superstitious, cowardly" criminals. Shrinking them down to nothing is completely illogical.

^ THIS. Also, if there's an antenna in there, you'd want it to be longer, wouldn't you?

I just prefer the visuals of smaller ears. But they don't have to be Jim Lee small.

I just watched that Batman versus Deadpool video. Awesome stuff for a low budget short! Those guys are pros! The suit and movement were both great!!

And coco I don't think length of antennas matters like it used to. I could be wrong but I assumed that's why cell phones don't have them any more.

Exactly.

All things considered, smaller ears don't make too much sense from a technical standpoint.

However, that doesn't mean it should be uber long either.

They solved it in the Nite-owl costume in Watchmen....He was able to turn his head, it connected to the chest and could have easily connected to the cape and was able to be pulled back.

I found this pic on deviant art. The suit looks like it is made with some type of bullet proof material, with some light armor and my favorite the chin strap on the cowl, and white eyes. The suit looks sleek enough for him to move like batman but you can tell that it has a level protection to it.
