So Dan Snyder wrote a letter to Redskins fans defending the team name, further cementing his stance that he'll never change it, because you know, 81 years of football tradition is more important than genocide and all that.

I was perusing the response from Skins fans on Twitter over this. A lot of "Thank you Dan Snyder for standing up to the PC police" crap. Skins fans amaze me. Overpay an aging free agent who plays four games and then gets injured? Crucify Dan Snyder. Vehemently defend a racist team name? Dan Snyder is a hero.

Of course, there are obvious reasons why they might want to eschew that name, even if London Rippers does have a nice ring to it. I have to admit, there would be something hilarious about an NFL team being named after a serial killer.

Theyre going to name them after Canadian minor league baseball team?

Of course!

Fun fact: The guy who founded London, Ontario was named Ronald McDonald.

Nothing wrong with Mexico City getting a team. Unlike several franchises here, they fill seats even if the teams are mediocre. The Niner-Cardinal game a couple years ago was completely sold out at Azteca Stadium (150,000+), and that's a disgrace considering Soccer and Boxing are far bigger than Football in that country.

Okay, your post was full of contradictions?

-They can't fill seats -> completely sold out Azteca Stadium?

-That's a disgrace, because soccer and boxing are bigger?

I was editing my post.

Yes, Football's popularity isn't on par with Soccer and Boxing, and yet the last game at Mexico City still sold out.

Well, have you not seen Miami's or Oakland's attendance over the last couple of years? Better yet, how good was San Fran's prior to becoming a playoff team? All three of these teams have long histories with their cities.

Same.

I think the Jaguars should totally move to LA.

Toronto wouldn't be bad either. What would you guys think of Toronto having a team?

Actually San Francisco had good attendance. In all those years of sucktitude, they never once suffered attendance problems, and never were blacked out.

http://espn.go.com/nfl/attendance/_/sort/awayPct

It seems that most stadiums are usually over 93% for 2013 except for Jacksonville and Arizona.

In 2012, all teams were over 90% except for Jacksonville and Kansas City.

In 2011, 90% and over except for Houston and Denver.

But I'm wondering if that's purchased tickets, and not technical attendance. Because like that Miami vs. Baltimore game it was noticeably not full.

If the Jags move to London, can Blaine Gabbert stay in Jacksonville?

I remember that game...don't recall if the attendance was that much. I seem to remember it was around 112,000, but I don't quite remember.

However, I agree with you...American football is not even as popular as Baseball down there, and yet they are able to put up great attendance numbers. But...will they do that consistently, over a full season...begs the question???

Probably not.

It's probably a lot easier to jam pack a stadium for a one time deal. It's a rare event at that point, and brings more people out.
