It could be like Renner. Cast the actor before anyone else is attached.

Yeah, I strongly doubt they're anywhere close to casting Cage yet. But it doesn't preclude the possibility of an easter-egg reference about Cage being in that prison while Trevor Slattery is there.

It's really awesome they picked Seagate as the prison.

I'm gonna take a wild guess and say that once the short is released, pretty much every well-built black male extra will be speculated on as Luke Cage himself. Get ready for some pretty obscure IMDB pages to get thrown around as we venture down the rabbit hole.

There he is, looking at Trevor

Nah, it's the white dude in the blue shirt sitting down, looking thoughtful. They're race-switching Luke Cage.

Michael Douglas-awesome.
Bill Paxton-also awesome.
Johnny Depp-it's LR reporting it, so I don't much stock in their credibility. Still, Depp as Strange would be interesting, although my first choice is Viggo Mortensen.

This is how I feel. I'm not really excited by Johnny Depp at all, although I can see the appeal for Marvel from the marketing stand point and I would hold my tongue if he were ultimately cast. However, Viggo is my favorite actor that has been rumored/fancast for the role, by a wide margin.

I just realized we have about 90 comic book characters cast in the MCU so far. that's a pretty amazing number. by the end of the year we will have over 100.

Wow! That's pretty amazing, when you think about it. I started a thread in the Thor forum celebrating how many characters from Thor's world have been brought to the screen, but 90 for the whole MCU is just awesome.

Question here because I can't find anywhere else to put this.
Which studio owns what?

I know Fox have X-Men and F4, and Sony Spider-Man, while Universal have Namor, which is something completely different, does Marvel own everybody else, or am I missing some out?

Don't forget supporting cast and enemies. I think Fox still has Silver Surfer, Galactus and the rest of the Heralds. It's debatable/unknown if Sony has Arana and Spider-Woman/Jessica Drew. Disney gave Sony special consideration related to the Spider-Man IP awhile ago no one here knows what that entails

Marvel owns Jessica Drew but they can't call her Spider Woman

I'm not sure about that. Even her superhero name has no real connection to Spider-Man.

It depends on if she was named in the contract

Has nothing to do with the comics connection. It's how the contract was written. when Marvel signed over the rights to Spider-Man Sony wanted all the names of characters that might interfere with their new brand. They didn't want to see Universal coming out with a Spider Woman movie that audiences would think tied into their film(s)

^Exactly, the perception of connection could cause a problem for Fox, regardless of if the perception is valid. A corporate lawyer would think of that.

The latest Marvel One Shot "All Hail the King" is the third way Marvel can connect the Netflix shows with the MCU, but probably the easiest.
