To me, it sounds like Zola is something that people hope to see, but some might not be expecting him to be in his robotic form. I think robot Zola is a sure thing.

Hey, I wouldn't put anything past them in Phase 2. They seriously dropped the ****ing ball with Hank Pym and all his entourage, including Ultron; and there's a lot of fanboys out there (I'm not one of them) who said the same for Mandarin in IM3. I'm still waiting to see how badly they retcon Thanos and the Infinity Gauntlet, because that one's going in unforeseen directions as well.

But for right now, I have to keep the faith. I just don't see the point in bringing back Toby Jones at all unless they *are* planning something big for him. We know they teased the android blueprints in CATFA, and that's definitely the first image that comes to mind whenever someone mentions "Arnim Zola" to a Marvelphile. Hell, if they wanted to just do a pointless WWII flashback, why even bother with such a minor character (in CATFA, anyway) as Arnim Zola? It'd make more sense to show Red Skull (with or without Hugo Weaving under the mask) than Zola if it's just a bit part.

"Minor" in the sense that almost nobody noticed him. He was just Red Skull's henchman, as far as the general audience knows. Hell, nobody's even trying to interview him about CATWS, and they practically grill(o) every other cast member out there for hints about the movie.

How does the Pym thing relate to dropping the ball with Arnim Zola in this MCU? LOL

If he has a minor flashback role in CA:TWS it would be just as suiting. He was a simple henchman with a few scenes from CA:TFA.

Except the actor confirmed (or at least teased) back in May that Zola has found a way to "defeat time".

Quote:
"All I can say about it is that I was pleased to be brought back," he told us. "I thought I might be--because you'd know better than I do--but Zola finds a way to defeat time and you won't be disappointed with the way that's been treated in the film, that's what I would say."
EDIT: The way he words it: "the way that's been treated in the film" (coupled with the secrecy around Zola in all the promotion, and the generally grounded nature of the MCU) makes me wonder if maybe his survival won't be exactly the way we might expect it to be.

I understand that .... my comment though was addressing Sam's insinuation that Marvel could "drop the ball" with Arnim if he was only included in a couple of scenes (flashback or otherwise).

A five-minute extended look will be shown with 3D screenings of THOR: THE DARK WORLD.

Quote:
Audiences will get an extended, roughly 5-minute look at Marvel’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier in 3D when they grab a ticket to Alan Taylor’s Thor sequel. This special engagement, according to the studio, will be available exclusively at 3D screenings of the newest Marvel film throughout its theatrical run.

“After Marvel’s The Avengers, the Marvel films are more interwoven than ever, and this pairing is the perfect complement to both of the new movies,” said Dave Hollis, executive vice president, theatrical distribution, at The Walt Disney Studios. “Thor: The Dark World is going to be an exceptional theatergoing experience, and this sneak peek will really rev fans up for the return of not only the Mighty Avenger but the First Avenger as well.”

The featurette will be on the internet the same day so I wouldn't fret about not being able to see it.

My reaction to the 5 minute Cap preview: OMG OMG, I can't wait! Oh, it's US only? Well, I prefer to wait and watch CA:TWS in its entirety, unsullied by spoilers of any sort, thank you very much.

Same here. I am tempted to see Thor in 3D just for the Cap footage but as usual the 3D isn't going to be all that great.

Yeah, but it'll look all funky because it's impossible to get a good cam copy of a 3D original. I'm just glad that Marvel has wised up and isn't making the preview exclusive to one theater chain or showing it only at conventions. That would have been upsetting.

No, they are simply forcing you to see it in 3D. I really hate this. I want to see the footage, but I can' stand 3D.

Of course, but not everyone has the money to covert even now, and it is much cheaper now then it was 6 years ago.

Indeed I hate 3D and it usually gives me headaches. Although Jurassic Park 3D was quite awesome and the only time it's ever been headache...less.
