Yeah, the elevator scene was amazing. I think after people see this movie, Cap will be viewed as much more of a badass than he was in TFA and TA. I imagine he'll have more fans in time for AoU.

Hopefully his badassery carries over into AoU. Because I think the Russos are responsible for it, and they won't be involved with AoU. I have faith in Whedon, though.

Actually, he may be leaner in this movie in part because he did a lot more gymnastics training for his fight scenes because he and the directors wanted Cap's fighting style to be more unique and varied. Male gymnasts usually have bodies like swimmers; broader shoulders up top with a more slender, tapered torso, which would describe Chris' body in TWS.

So, not sure how we can critique his dedication.

It's amazing some of the details I missed from the blurry footage online, like sweat running down one agent's face and Cap seeing that "tell", but just the quickness and brutality of the fight scene itself was... GUH!

I want to see that entire opening sequence on the boat so badly now. As well as the entire car chase down DC!

Also Chris Evans' cheekbones in 3D are glorious.

Wow, I didn't know about the sweat. That's a great detail. I love the opening sequence already, with Cap diving down without a parachute. So cool! I also want to see this sequence:

Yep.

I'm dying to see how the reveal of Winter Soldier plays out in the movie, and whether Bucky regains his memories by the end of the movie. I have to think that whoever's pulling WS's strings will want to make sure Cap knows who he is to really mess with Cap's mind. Also, while I'm really big on humor and whatnot in these Marvel movies, that beat needs to resonate in the moment that happens and throughout the rest of the movie.

Yeah, Cap does have this dry sense of humor about him. We see it alot in TFA, and some of it in The Avengers, but I hope to see more of it.

And, I'm curious to see how it does play when Cap realizes who TWS is. I mean, the guy in the first movie was the friend we all wish we had! And, I'm also looking forward to that knife fight. Something about a blade, more graceful and menacing than some bulky blaster, eh, I mean gun. When are we going get some sword fighting in these movie?

I just thought of something…

If MCU Black Widow and WS had some sort of past, like it was stated in an interview with Feige from a while back, then if she had access to some of Cap's files from his days with the Commandos, wouldn't she recognize Bucky as the Winter Soldier?

They could always scrap the romantic angle, I suppose, and just have her interact with WS with his balaclava.

I don't know if that was discussed in the Black Widow thread. I track it but I just can't remember. It would certainly demonstrate her fluid loyalties from the comics if she (and Fury) knows who the Winter Soldier is but kept it from Steve because, y'know… spygames and stuff.

I don't think the MCU's goal is to demonize Black Widow in any manner, especially since she's pretty much the only female superhero (superspy, anyway) in this (so far) sausage factory. Audiences, as well as Cap, would turn on her big time if she kept a secret like that from Steve.

Just a really dumb and random question. But, what would Steve do if he met Hitgirl like she was in the first movie? Since both characters come from Marvel, have either of them crossed paths in the comics at one point?

I think there's a way to do it where it wouldn't demonize Widow, per se. Widow is a very, very complex character in the comics; she's pretty defined by her status as a double agent and then as a figure seeking redemption. I don't think she should lose that aspect of her, necessarily. I'm thinking of Widow in CA:TWS as a similar character to Annette Bening's character in The Siege, where she sort of straddled the lines between working with Denzel Washington and protecting her trainees while also defending the country. Though that kind of ended all sorts of badly for her.

Then again, you could be right and maybe Marvel will construct it in a way that Widow's encounters with WS involved no face-to-face contact, or her "cognitive recalibration" after she encountered Barton "erased" traces of Winter Soldier's existence from her memory until he reemerges in present day…

You mean Hit-Girl from Kick-Ass? They may be both characters owned by Marvel, but Kick-Ass is published under a separate imprint and the universes aren't the same. They've never and probably won't ever meet.

^^^^What he said. But in the hypothetical scenario, Hit-Girl would have nothing but the utmost respect for Cap, just as she has for cops and other heroes, so they would never come to blows. I'm sure he wouldn't approve of her language, though, lol.

So, which Chris Evans in an elevator scene you think is hotter, the Captain America one, or the one in Losers "you liking the angle of the dangle!"

Definitely Cap. I mean, there's no question.

Also, Cap's elevator scene has bonus Frank Grillo, WHOM I ADORE OMG!

So yeah. But Jensen's elevator scene ain't no slouch

I rewatched the first Cap movie with someone who hadn't seen it and doesn't read comics yesterday. When Bucky fell she said "No! I liked him!"

Can't wait to see her reaction when she finds out who Winter Soldier is. She doesn't keep up with movie news, so she won't know until theaters.

So I'm guessing that our recent episode of "Agents of SHIELD" gave us a better time frame of where the events of this film might take place.

Seeing as how Fury was still the Director of SHIELD and that there were no traces/hints of a power struggle within SHIELD's inner workings so far, along with how the events of "The Dark World" are established in having taken place not too long ago from the series' time frame, then I'm guessing that Scarlett was more accurate in her statement that the events of "Winter Soldier' might take place much after the events of "The Avengers" since "The Dark World" takes place an year after "The Avengers".

Regarding Cobie's statement on how WS takes place immediately after, maybe the opening takes place after it and we get a time jump after, similar to how they did with "The Dark World".
