I just can't wait with the top comments.

We got the trailer and the top comment was about Cyclops.
They expect him to be in the movie even though he's dead.

Unless you've walked every street in the world with a clipboard in the last 24 hours, asking people what they thought of the DOFP trailer, you really have no idea what the consensus of the general public is about it. None of us really do.
But we get an idea what general sites think by the comments (and I wasn't including IMDB. Which I have said numerous times). The response on general sites is mixed. That is the closest we can come to finding out what the average Joe thinks.

Some fans liking it tells us nothing. Though quite a few fans don't like it. So even there it's mixed. Which has been my point all along. It isn't universally loved. And it doesn't even matter. The next trailer will be better.

He realistically won't like her because she voluntarily took the cure in the past - she's a mutant traitor. And she hates him because he tried to kill her. There is bound to be tension there. It doesn't mean it will stop Rogue agreeing to whatever her actual part in the plan is, but it will mean she'll be less than happy he's the one breaking her out of prison. That's why it is him. They have unfinished business so it creates a nice undertone to their scenes and it adds to the emotional angst in the scenes.

Kitty is the one sending Wolverine to the past. Rogue is possibly the one who has to bring him back again, because if he can't return the new future can't happen going by what how Singer explained the time travel. She might be all that stands in the way of everything failing. That's assuming the Vulture spoilers are right. But It's looking almost certain they are. I love that she is probably the most important part of the plan by the end. She may ultimately save mutant kind.
Right, Rogue will likely absorb Kitty's powers. Singer has said in the play-by-play of the trailer that only Wolverine can time-travel because his healing powers will allow him to do it. So Rogue won't be seen in the past.

As far as issues between her and Magneto, I just don't see it. They're in an apocalyptic world, no different than a concentration camp or a zombie situation. I'm pretty sure people put differences aside at that point. Not completely, but if she can handle a plane ride with Magneto a few months after he tried to kill her, she will probably be a lot better with him ten years later, rescuing her from an asylum where she looks like she'd rather be dead. I'm not saying they're going to be best friends, I'm just saying the tension isn't going to get past a mild discomfort. It will be palpable, but they'll get over it.

Future Magneto, based on the dialog, seems to be 100% on board with the X-Men. He seems changed and concerned.

I doubt Rogue has even seen Magneto in possibly years. And they will not be friendly regardless. He tried to murder her and she took the cure. Which he will forever resent.

It would be senseless to waste all that history. It could bring some effective tension to her scenes. It can not be a coincidence that Rogue is rescued by her ex and the hated man who tried to kill her. And it's so she can possibly absorb the powers of her exes girl. All that screams interpersonal tension. Singer doesn't just go for action, he likes having the emotion as well. This kind of thing is typical of his X-Men movies. I wouldn't complain. I've been waiting years for Rogue to have a proper closure scene with Magneto over X1.

Oh yeah tension and emotion between Rogue and Bobby and Kitty is going to be high, and I think that will be the focus, not Magneto. There's just too many characters, back-stories and new plot points to really flesh out every angle. Rogue will have two emotional subplot arcs: the love triangle, and her own personal suffering during the apocalypse. And I strongly doubt Magneto will feel resentment for Rogue for taking the shot. The vibe I get is that he will feel pity for her.

If this were the zombie apocalypse (sorry, been watching a lot of Walking Dead, its the best analogy I can think of), and someone who tried to kill me years ago ends up being holed into a house with me, and he reaches out a hand to save me from a zombie attack, I wouldn't hesitate in reaching out. But that's just me.

Well, we'll just have to wait and see who is right! But I think that we can both agree, whichever sub-story they focus on, if its done well, we will both like it!

Having Magneto being the one to rescue her means they're bound to at least give acknowledgement to their past. I'm not saying it will be a big thing. But I would be shocked if there isn't some tension and probably a comment.

I'd be disappointed if they don't. It's the perfect opportunity. And it's not like the credit scene in TW didn't have tension between Magneto and Wolverine. That's the kind of thing I'm expecting. Though most of the tension and angst for Rogue would be to do with Bobby/Kitty and the hell that's going on. There isn't time for loads of emotional scenes. Sadly

That's a nice angle.

I mean, he tried to kill her in X-MEN obviously.

Something of a redemption for him in DOFP perhaps.

The Empire spread on DOFP confirms that Wolverine still hates Magneto even though they work together in the future. So it's safe to assume Rogue will still hate him too. And we'll likely get some acknowledgement of that.

I'm happy they aren't making everyone buddies just because they have to fight together. It wouldn't be realistic to ignore the tensions from the past.

That's why it would have been nice to see more X-Men go to the past. Imagine if Rogue met Fassbender-Magneto and told him he had tried to kill her in a mutant-making machine in the future (of X1); that would have been an interesting dynamic.

The problem with that scenario is the lack of Hugh Jackman...

Young Magneto at first would have been confused why Rogue hated him so much when they met lol

I'll be satisfied with them somehow acknowledging Rogue's disdain for older Magneto.

Ain't that the truth (as far as Fox decisions go).

But it's weird to imagine how Wolverine can possibly persuade Magneto to do anything. They've clashed in the future but not in any way that could make Magneto feel regret or shock.

But Rogue, on the other hand, would have quite a persuasive argument. 'You tried to kill me, and you nearly did. Then you made Xavier tried to kill every mutant on the planet.'

Maybe Professor X will help Wolverine to persuade Magneto?

Magneto would only need to convinced that the future hell is a reality and he'd help. He wouldn't want himself or mutant kind wiped out. He wouldn't need to be guilt-tripped into anything.

Old Magneto is working with people he doesn't like and has tried to kill or hurt in the past because it's for his and mutant kinds survival.

Because the fate of the mutant race is at stake.

Yeah if Charles vouches for the legitimacy of Wolverine's claims I think Magneto would believe him and would help. Magneto doesn't usually have problems working with others when their interests overlap.

Then again, I've always thought he drifted a bit out of character and into madman land in X2 when he tried to have Cerebro "kill all the humans" -- that's like crazy person thinking. (and he told Shaw he agreed with him in FC -- like, wut, I hope u aren't talking about the nuclear war part, Mags).

I wonder what Rogue's family and the families of the others think about their children being hunted, locked up or killed by Sentinels.

I also wonder if Rogue ever returned home when she was human again for a time. If she did she probably got rejected again after the cure wore off.

Im afraid Singer or any future director wont ever show the family of any of the x-men

it would be really interesting to see a new scene developing the relationship between a x-man/woman and his family, after all the things that have happened since X1

Except for, you know, Iceman's family. He's shown family. This isn't a television show. We don't have the luxury of returning week after week to these characters, showing family outside of being important to the plot or message, doesn't seem necessary. The X-Men are their own family. It's kind of the point.

Yes, but it is interesting to think about how those families react to what is happening. They're still their children. I know we saw Rogue and Iceman rejected by their families, but they still must care on some level.

And Angel wasn't ultimately rejected by his father. I get the impression from what Singer said that he may be one of the dead characters. Singer said most are dead or captured. Angel's father at least would be distraught over it. Even if he didn't like mutants in general.

And we also saw Stryker and his son. I suppose Jason won't be born by 1973. So we have seen family situations before. Of course there won't be time to explore any in DOFP so all we can do is think about it.

If only Wolverine's mind/consciousness is travelling, I don't see what a physical healing power has to do with it. It sounds like justification for wanting him to be at the centre of everything yet again.

Going by the teaser, you see Wolverine screaming so it must be very painful and put immense pressure on the travelers body. That would explain why only he could handle it. His healing powers get him through it.

Kitty can't send herself back so if it wasn't Logan it would have to be one of the others. If it's such a strain they wouldn't survive. And their body needs to survive or the plan will fail. That will be what the drama in the future is. They have to stay alive long enough to guard Logan's body so he can return to bring the altered timeline into being.

And they also have to keep Kitty alive or the plan will fail. If she can't use her powers anymore then they need to make sure Rogue is rescued and kept alive to take over. No wonder it will be so dramatic. If some of them die and there's only Iceman, Magneto and Professor X left to safe guard Logan and Kitty. Then go and get Rogue, it will be tense.

I was meaning future movies, obviously. not about previous ones, with Rogue's parents, Bobby's family, or Jean parents (and Warren father)

In X3, when Jean went to her house, that was the right moment to show her parents, being older now, or at least showing someone related living there.

It was totally unrealistic to have a full house empty conveniently so Jean could do whatever she wanted without any family member.

It's not only his factor healing, he's also the only X-Men that can survive the "travel" and has a body in the 70's. Rogue could easily absord his healing factor and travel with him, but them what? Where could her mind end?
