ac, aa, ao. origins does indeed suffer from rocksteadys absence, the glitches were horrible on xbox version until the patch, and really its arkham city 2.0, nothing new about it ( which is fine, cause i love these games!) but i rank asylum 2 because the story is great!

I played a big chunk of Origins, saw a great deal of what I like and dislike about the game, so now I rank them based solely on gameplay enjoyment:

1. Arkham City: It has a few downgrades from Arkham Asylum, but they are minor, the improvement in gameplay is MASSIVE. They added a few moves and stuf, but counter system is far more responsive, I ranted for long on how it's barely responsive in Arkham Asylum
2. Arkham Origins: It made certain improvements on Arkham City's gameplay, but City is still a better game
3. Arkham Asylum: This game is overrated, after the campaign is completed there is little to no use of the upgrades, and it's hard to upgrade with all the prisoners under control. Counter system is often not-responsive from what I experienced, and there are too many titans to fight. It almost made me not want to play City

You're a bit harsh on AA, this game was the first game got some rights as a Batman game, it was very limited on what Rocksteady can do because they didn't know this hit or miss. I pretty much enjoyed the game and counter system is good of course AC improved CS since AC is a sequel.

As for Origins, I think rushing a game isn't good they should have waited for after AK came out few years later. I enjoyed AA & AC more than AO but I don't care about story when I play video game the story is a like last thing on my mind. I loved Bane in AO the boss fights were the best

Maybe I am harsh, but I couldn't enjoy Asylum like I wanted to

Agreed about the story in video games, it's why I almost didn't mention the story of either one

Asylum has the best level design.

City has the best open-world/gameplay

Origins has the best story/characterization.

For story - Arkham Asylum

For gameplay - Arkham City

Origins felt like trying to do both at the same time but it never quite got up there. It was missing Rocksteady's (and the Timmverse) charm.

I still prefer AA. City wasn't bad, but it felt too bloated.

I still haven't played AO, but I'm sure I'll get around to it some day. Probably after I'm done with Skyrim....which could take awhile.

As long as the camera can be manipulated, I could care less about gameplay. On single player, I play games only for story, so my ranking is:
AO
AC
Aa
