Conversely, it's probably a good idea for people to remember that this trailer isn't meant for us. It's meant for general audiences watching Thor, The Hunger Games, and The Hobbit--people who don't scour the internet 24/7 looking to spoil the movie for themselves every chance they get.

Then they should have upped their game if they wanted the trailer to obsure Thor, The Hunger Games and The Hobbit - because that one won't. That's why some new more action based clips would have been a good idea. It still would have been character orientated but with a bit of boom.

It's a very emotive trailer. For a comic book movie is that the best idea? I'm not sure. If and when they release a 2nd trailer it needs more bang.

Two most important things the trailer got out, that there's a new X-Men film coming and that they're combining the two casts from the old film series and the new film series. Remember, 95% of the population has no idea.

It did wonders for Fast Five.

Was there ever any doubt that Hugh would take top billing? He is the poster child of the X-Men movies. He's been in every single one of them.

The billing order and who was included and who wasn't doesn't surprise me. I expected it this way.

Am I the only one who thinks that the trailer cuts really awkward from the first song to the second? The editing was strange. However, loved the trailer.

Yes, but he plays Wolverine who is the biggest fish in the franchise pond. I'm not saying I agree with it, but that's how it is. We have to admit X-Men movies are basically Wolverine & friends outings.

I literally have no idea what you're saying here.

The purpose of this trailer is to establish the basic premise, tone, and scope of the film. It did that. It isn't meant to drive off audiences with a bunch of half-assed, incomplete effects shots.

And I'm sure we'll get more bang, when we enter less-than-half-a-year-away territory.

We knew this was going to be the case, lets get back on topic about the trailer. I fear a derailing into a "why is wolverine the poster boy!"

If this was releasing next month, I too would be pissed at the lack of action. I think this trailer succeeds just in that it gets the word out that this film even exists, which I have a suspicion a large majority of the general audience has no idea about.

We may still get a new trailer (one that's more action packed) in front of The Hobbit. Since it's the last "big" movie of the year, Fox may want to take advantage of that.

Man it's just so odd trying to figure out this timeline. I'm not judging, I'm super pumped, but it's like, is this the same young Charles who grow up to be the man we meet in the first X-Men? Did something alter in the timeline we know after First Class that essentially negates the X1-3 timeline causing this apocalypse and their reason for time travel? Now for repeat views...

Can anyone pick out the shot where McAvoy and Stewart's visages are combined?
