I'm pretty sure if he's Thanos he wouldn't just be voicing him, he'd be the whole thing. I will say that Vin Diesel is one of the few actors in Hollywood with the physicality to play Thanos with any type of chops sans Rock.

I don't like Vin as an actor. A voice role with one line is one thing, But Thanos no thanks.

Quick question that may sound stupid but does GotG take place in our galaxy, like the milky way?

And it's all but confirmed we will have a trailer by the time C:TWS is upon us right?

Not sure, but haven't the Marvel films always had a trailer for their next movie in front of a new film?

Or, maybe Vin Diesel thinks he deserves a billion dollars for gracing this movie with his presence.

I dunno, I get the impression that Feige and Gunn and the others are getting tired of Vin Diesel acting like a prima donna. Especially if it *is* over simply the ever-so-difficult voicework for "I AM GROOT."

We'll see. I'd be happy as a clam if Vin *does* get the Thanos role, and suggested it a long time ago when people were still going on with their "omg Vin is Vision" theories. But like Dent, I think Thanos is going to be more than just a voice-over role; and, with the movie in the can, that would mean that Thanos' scenes have already been shot. Vin is still "negotiating" with Marvel; you don't shoot a movie, and *then* start discussing your fees.

I love how crazy excited James Gunn is in this interview with MTV.

Everything I'm hearing about Guardians make it seem like it's going to be a very special moment in superhero films.

See, you can tell Gunn in genuinely into this. He's not just there to put his own spin on it, he doesn't act like he's all above the material or trying to go all darker and edgier, he's just adapting the ****ing GotG to the big screen, point blank.

That seems like what I saw. Couldn't put my finger on it, lol but there you go. An outer space Liberace.

My thoughts exactly. I also like how he pointed out that Marvel is letting him make the movie he wants to make.

What's been on my mind lately (and I haven't seen this discussed anywhere) is Vin's franchise character Riddick. My bet is that Riddick/GOTG is the "merging of brands". By definition it would fit. And Riddick would blend seamlessly into the space pirates/prison story and themes. This may also be why Vin hasn't been introduced as a Marvel character yet.

Plausible, but no one wants to see Riddick in the Marvel Universe.

I agree. It should be fun. I think I was just surprised by BDT's look, which is very Liberace now that people mentioned it. But there is a fine line between being fun and being campy, and I hope it doesn't tread into the latter.

That MTV Gunn interview; his passion is infectious! I was excited for this movie when I first heard about it, and it has only gotten more so since then.

Only as serious as speculation can be.

At this point there is less information hinting at Vin being Thanos than there is for "merging" the properties.

I would not be surprised if Marvel announces officially Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch, Hank and Janet before they announce Thanos and/or Groot.

I propose we ban anyone who mentions Riddick in this thread. There should be limits to the mindless crap that people can post. Who's with me?
