Maybe some of that cut footage will find its way back for flashbacks in Man of Steel 2?

It would probably be like the ONLY time/scene where Jonathan wasn't worried/frowning about something in the film.lol

If I'm not mistaken, the film was originally supposed to cut to the Kents taking the infant Clark to the hospital after his ship landed, rather than jumping directly to the boat scene 33 years later.

I think they said that they had cut it out for pacing issues, but personally, I wouldn't have minded it, especially since I feel like the film could have used more quieter/down to earth moments.

I honestly wonder what Zack Snyder would say, by the way, if someone actually asked him on who he would choose between Superman and Batman if he were given an choice where he could only make films featuring only one of those characters.lol

It's tough to tell Herloee10, given that we're fans, we'd both probably be happy with a five hour cut.

But ... I think it'd be worth it to add that scene, and cut out some of the Jor-El garbage, if 2 hours and 27 minutes was "the law".

What Snyder's personal preferences are don't matter as long as he stays faithful to the script given to him (assuming that he is not writing anything.)

That's correct. The scene in question was scripted as follows:

The Kents take young Clark to the hospital for a checkup. During the examination, he suddenly starts bawling his eyes out, shattering adjacent glass windows in the process.

I was kind of hoping they would include it as a deleted scene/extra for the MOS DVD. Alas, such wasn't the case.

Deep down, we know it's the B

But, he'll probably weave around it, vaguely hinting at a JL league

That's a great interview by Hughes with Snyder.

This guy is a much, much more intelligent and thoughtful director than a lot of people seem to realize. Hughes' comments about "layers" is spot on.

agree, it's not "dick sucking" just because you like a director "everyone" seems love to hate.

I disagree, even people like Michael Bay seem smart spoken in their interviews, Zack Snyder however, does not.

I find that there tends to be a lot of selective memory as far as how he's viewed. I'm bored with the talk of destruction in MOS, or that Dr. Manhatten was a little TOO well endowed.

Funny enough, if Snyder makes a really consistently well made Superman-Batman movie, I bet Affleck will be blamed for its quality

Not that I don't want him to play a role in it

kinda reminds me of some people who blames Zack Snyder (and Goyer) for everything they didn't like about Man of Steel then praise Nolan on the things they liked. (some of them even think it was directed by him)

I don't remember that, as far as most trustworthy critics go, most of their criticism is directed at the right things.

I don't hate Zack Snyder, but I think he has a specific type of job he does well at. As I've noted before, all of his good/decent films have been adaptations (keep in mind that Dawn of the Dead was a remake and LotG was based on a children's book), whereas his one attempt at telling an original story (and the first film he had total creative control over) turned out to be Sucker Punch, a critical and commercial failure. That's not to say he's a hack, just that he seems to do best on films where he doesn't have to worry about the story and can instead focus on the visuals and the technical aspects. There are plenty of legitimate directors with the same thing going on.

The problem, as I see it, is that somewhere along the line, people started calling him a "visionary" and assumed he would be just as good at writing (because, of course, what everyone loved about 300 was its script)...and despite glaring evidence to the contrary, Snyder still seems to believe that for some reason.

That's the main reason why I'm concerned about him getting "story" credit on a movie this big.

Stay away from Sucker Punch. Your soul depends on it.

I think Zack Snyder does well under 2 conditions:
1. When he not in charge of the story and may even have a source to guide him better
2. When he's not trying to handle something that is deep or complex, he's far better when making entertainmen, not when he tries to be an "Auteur"

can't disagree more... Sucker Punch was pretty awesome, and frankly the "story" was pretty darn good too.
have to agree with the interviewer, most folks who don't like sucker punch just don't get it and didn't see the story there.

I will defend all of Snyder's works except Sucker Punch. The action scenes were the only redeeming factor. Sucker Punch was an attempt at making a statement towards sexist geek culture, but Zack chose to indulge the very people he was critiquing. It was poorly done.
