Damn, Let It Go should've won. Well, maybe the Academy Awards will be wiser and give the trophy to Frozen.

I wish Let It Go had won, too, but winning Best Animated Film is more important.

Hopefully, it will win the Oscar, too, for Animated Film ( and Best Song ).

Take a Listen to the Opening Song from Disney’s ‘Frozen’
http://www.rotoscopers.com/2013/09/1...isneys-frozen/
Quote:
According to the uploader Fahkon Gelmedh, the song is called “Eatnemen Vuelie” (the Earth’s yoik) and is written by Norwegian composer Frode Fjellheim. The song–and the movie itself–is inspired by the indigenous Saami and Norwegian culture. He also commented:

The song is a combination of Saami yoiking and the Danish Christmas hymn “Dejlig er jorden”/”Fairest Lord Jesus”. Composed by Frode Fjellheim. The original hymn is composed by the Danish composer B.S. Ingemann.

I actually think all "Best animated picture" awards should no longer be a category as they are an excuse to not take animated films seriously in the "best picture" categories. Some of the best films released in a year are animated and deserve a chance at the big award. With that said congrats to to Frozen on its expected win for best animated picture.

while it would be nice to see the animated films on equal footing with live action films, that would most likely decrease their chances of winning awards/recognition.

We unfortunately live in a culture where there is still a lot of bias towards serious animation, much like superhero films. I don't see that changing anytime soon. The best chance there is of escaping this bias is for Hollywood to produce a mature animated film on the same level of quality and box office success as something like Akira, which I also don't see happening anytime soon.

Glad it won animated. Really did want DM2 to win just as it's funny or did well at the box office. Frozen story is worthy of an award.
Well done to the cast and creative teams

Just gutted Let it go didn't win best song it's so much better and meaningful maybe oscars will be different.

Quite honestly, I feel that superhero films are very rarely deserving of any more than the technical awards they sometimes get nominated for.

Well, if what I've seen and heard about How to Train Your Dragon 2 is any indication, with the younger characters being five years older (even the character designs look a little less cartoon-y and more mature) and the director saying this film is inspired by The Empire Strikes Back (not necessarily homages, but in terms of emotion, scope, characters, and fun), I think that's a step in the right direction.

The difference between you and the Academy Awards is the way in which your similar opinions were formulated. You came to that conclusion on your own based on your viewing of the films whereas the Academy Awards already made a decision by the time the title and posters out.

Sure that most aren't exactly Best Picture material but whenever they are, they still get ignored. Beating a dead horse here, but TDK should have at least been nominated for Best Picture. It is one of the most over-analyzed films of the 2000's. Even Ledger's Oscar, despite him deserving it, felt more like the Academy showing pity/respect for his death.

That is definitely a step in the right direction. Plus it is a sequel to a very well received film (both critically and financially), so it is bound to get some attention.

Nothing's gonna change until someone recognizes there's a problem and with the "Best animated picture" category still around no ones going to recognize it seems, at least no one that "matters". 2008 TDK should have been nominated and WALL-E should have been as well and both should have been front runners not just space fillers.
