Can't fight you on that one. I hope Quicksilver isn't bald. And thanks!

it'd be hard to run really fast w/ that monocle on his face.

So who do we like, casting-wise for Von Strucker? Honestly I've never given it much thought. How about Brian Cranston.

Latino Review says Dougary Scott and Martin Csokas are the two Marvel has an interest in.

My pick is Mads Mikkelson.

i'd go with Csokas. both seem kind of young for Strucker, though. i wonder why they didn't go with Zemo.

since he's turning 50 right now and therefor is in the right age, castingwise, and since he is German, I'm not opposed to Til Schweiger.

Probably not the former because of age/nationality.

Anyway, I like Strucker showing up and I do hope that he either is killed by Ultron which leaves a power vacuum within HYDRA where different people with different ideologies try to steer the organization or that he survives to watch these power struggles unfold.

I mean, Strucker wants to keep HYDRA as a post-WWII remnant faction, Zemo on the other hand is a communist while Viper is an anarchist. Cap 3 has a lot of potential to show these power struggles with the other HYDRA goons like Taskmaster and Bravo. If Batroc survives then you have a full HYDRA roster.

Also, as far as casting goes, I approve of Ray Park as Taskmaster, Daniel Bruhl as Zemo and Rooney Mara as Viper.

Also, the point of Magneto being their father is because it was a shocking reveal and relevant for the fact that Magneto was such a big villain in the Marvel universe for years. Baron von Strucker sounds like a filler villain at best in this movie and it will be his first appearance, so revealing him to be their father holds no weight at all.
Well in this case the dramatic weight won't be on the reveal that he's their father (adoptive or otherwise). That's something that can be established from scene one. The weight comes from the twins gradually finding out that their father only likes them for their powers, and maybe it culminates in a scene where they've been ordered to do something really nasty, and the Avengers are even prepared to straight up kill them to prevent it.

So they rebel. They say "our 'father' has only used and abused us, and now we're going to try to use our powers for good" (or some expression of intent along those lines, no way am I going to try to predict the finer details) and I think such a character arc fits nicely in parallel to the Ultron aspect of the story.

Ultron is rebelling from his father/s. He ultimately also feels abused or kept from his glory, so he rebels. But his idea of surpassing his father figure is being even more powerful and sadistic. It would be like the twins becoming more like Strucker. He's their evil parallel in this theme of children finding their own way.

Which may very well be the theme of this movie. I mean, you could even interpret the splitting of Avengers from SHIELD to match that. So we may even have some weight in the team figuring out who they are without SHIELD.

Yes...yes, it does, Chaos.

Having Von Strucker be the father of these kids shouldn't have to be some dramatic reveal; just the simple fact that this sicko is using his own children for eugenics and is trying to create a master race (just as the Nazis did; just as Magneto did). Hell, Ultron could even be part and parcel of HYDRA's Final Solution: he's programmed to commit genocide against all the "normal" non-super humans who aren't worthy of the master race. (Sounds just like Hitler, eh? Or even more to the point: like Magneto and mutantkind.) You could even have HYDRA/Ultron extending an olive branch to the Avengers --- i.e., as supers, Von Strucker/Ultron would consider them "worthy" of the master race, and would be baffled as to why the heroes are trying to shut down their grand scheme to create a world for super-kind.

Yeah, Hydra is Hydra, but Madam Hydra is Viper. Fox has Viper, they probably have any form of that specific character.

is it weird that you're talking about the children of a persecuted Holocast victim possibly being the children of a man who possibly usurped a Nazi offshoot

also Taskmaster - Scott Adkins (stunts), Garett Dillahunt (actor)

Strucker would only have to come to their aid. Much like when magneto originally saved the twins.
I wonder I'd the problems in the AOS show stem from holding back plot elements of CATWS and AOU??

If Pepper is in AOU will she display Extremis powers I wonder??

Yes, the rumormonger described the role as similar to those 007 prologues, but other than actual screentime devoted to the character, I doubt it's an actual reflection of what AOU intends. Reason being, we know that HYDRA plays a major role in CATWS; we know that Feige and others have specifically said that CATWS hands the torch over to AOU, and "informs" AOU more than any of the other Phase II films; and we know that the Twins are going to be major players in the Avengers, crossing over from villain to hero.

Von Strucker himself won't be directly part of CATWS --- that film is already wrapping its reshoots, and the Von Strucker role (if any of this turns out to be accurate) is still just in early stages of casting, so there's not even a chance of a cameo in Cap's film --- but the HYDRA storyline developed there will be in full swing as AOU opens. That makes the leader of HYDRA a VIP in AOU, until Ultron takes the reins.

Making the Twins blood relatives of Von Strucker makes sense for a lot of reasons, not least of which is that it makes the story more personal and dramatic. There's not as much tension in a story about employees quitting their jobs, as opposed to children having to escape a sadistic and twisted father.

Well, I think that VIP will be the Mandarin!!!

No weirder than talking about a persecuted Holocaust victim becoming a hatemongering racist with dreams of establishing a master race to enslave and/or exterminate all those he deems inferior. Magneto is just a card-carrying Nazi in a different uniform.
