Default Stop Complaining Please! Is Anybody Else Sick of It?!

I am sick of all these people, mostly comic book nerds that are putting down X-men: The Last Stand. C'mon. Let it go. They weren't true to the comics is what they say, but didn't Bryan Singer say that with X1 he wanted it to be set in the real world? Going to outer space would have made X3 suck. No one would believe that. And about the death's, isn't Professor X dead right now in comics and wasn't Cyclops killed off only to come back. Isn't Jean Grey also pushing up daisies as we speak. So what's the big deal. Sounds like X3 is pretty accurate to me. I myself loved the movie and have seen it more than 3 times. I notice something new every time.

Sorry you feel that way, but no, people won't let it go. To do so is to only encourage FOX to make more movies based on profit margins and the gee-whiz factor:

No one's talking about going to outer space or using the Shi'iar. There are other, critical elements of a movie that make it intelligent, entertaining, or engaging.

2 quotes of interest fom IMDB regarding Last Stand that are of note note:

"It really shows that there was no intelligence behind this movie, no thought went into keeping the film locked into its own logic. That is how singer made his succeed, he never broke the rules of the universe he created. The new creative team failed at this badly as they would do anything that sounded cool whether it fit into the universe or not. You create a character so powerful that you cant do anything with her for half the movie cause nothing would make sense."

"Complex films that have plot, emotion, darkness, and intelligence are films like LOTR, Terminator 1 and 2, Predator, Batman Begins, E.T., American Psycho, Platoon, King Kong, Edward Scissorhands, Ghost, and so on. X-Men 3 didn't have any of the above, it was just a bunch of eye candy thrown around with stupid one liners."

X3 is not accurate to either the comic universe, the animated series universe, or even to the first 2 movies.

Great that you enjoyed it, though.

^Lead by example? One person can change the face of complaining. XD

Maybe I'll do the opposite of complaining and give props to the movie. Way to be X3!

It gets kind of annoying, just because the movie wasn't nearly as bad as they make it sound. It's still one of the best comic book movies out there.

What I really wanted to comment on though was this:

King Kong had plot, emotion, darkness and intelligence?!?! The horny ape and the man-eating worms? That's the single most ridiculous thing I heard all month. To even place it amongst LotR, the Terminators or Edward Scissorhands is just blasphemy...

Glad someone agrees with me. I've got plenty of things to do in my life than being dragged through the mud whenever I come here.

Darn, i thought we this was a place where you were supposed to express your viewpoints - Good or bad.

If thats the case you might as well start a thread like this in the Superman Returns forum and the Spider-Man 3. Some fans are ripping apart Raimi and Singer there.

I am a complainer. I confess I felt nothing but blind, betrayed rage at the end of TLS.

And yes, there are numerous inaccuracies to the comics that several people harp on.

Those are not my qualms with the movie.

There are also many inconsistencies between the previous two films and this one.

Again, those are not what filled me with anger.

X3, as a film, was bad. Dialogue, pacing, and characterization were lost in a meaningless channel-flick progression from scene to scene. Even its "blockbuster moments" were cheap and forced. The Golden Gate Bridge was well done, the actual fighting was not. After two films that had been dark, dramatic, and introspective we got something that was inane fluff from start to finish.

The one moment that had any possible gravity was Strom's eulogy for Xavier, and that was delivered as though she was sleepwalking in rehearsal. It's as if The Rat only did one take and went with it.

I am a film nerd before I am a comic nerd, and X3 is a travesty of a film.

King Kong wasn't horny. But it had plot, darkness, and emotion. I wouldn't say it was intelligent by any stretch of the imagination. But to deny its emotion would be like saying Edward Scissorhands isn't emotional.

Just for the record, I thought those man eating worms were awesome.

X3 is not the worst movie ever made. But it could've been so much better had they taken the time to produce a quality instead of a big budget action film with no character development, emotion, and so forth.

But as much as I love King Kong, I wouldn't place it among LOTR, Terminator, Edward Scissorhands, or even Aliens.

Agreed

I don't see it as the worst movie ever made either. But to me it's certainly the worst of the X films so far as it clearly detracted from the elements that made the first 2 great and made them appeal to their audience. The way it's polarised the fanbase and spurted levels of anger not experienced during the release of the first two films serves as evidence as well. It was handicapped by studio politics, an unrealistic schedule, unrealistic demands, and constant shuffling around of the production staff. All the time that was wasted could have been spent working on pre-production, but instead was sacrificed for the sake of maximizing short-term profits.

And I too am first and foremost a movie buff, before I consider myself an X-men fan. Plot elements and character development notwithstanding, I consider X3 to be sub-par compared to the first two films in regards to technical quality on issues such as editing, pacing, scene changes, dialogue, and visual presentation.

Great movies take time to make, and those movies take their time to tell their story. X3 on the other hand was a rushed-job, and it tries to tell its story in a rushed fashion. Compared to the other 2 films, it has the most complex story to tell with the most characters of the 3 films, and yettries to do it in the shortest running time of all 3 films.

If it angers people that there are other people expressing their opinions and complaining about a film that they didn't like, then there's nothing I can do about it to change their minds. But I'm not going to cower in a corner and feel intimidated because someone claims to be sick of complaints and expects everyone to conform to their wishes.

Exactly.
X3 had the best story and (IMO) the best action of the three. It was just poorly executed in some ways (expected actually, with what it went through). The running time was for me the biggest mistake. Had they taken their time with the story and added some character development, it would have been great.

Wow, you just proved that you're even more pathetic. Get a life. I don't live here 24/7. If you have to have 5.000 + to be allowed to have an opinion here without being called a newbie then yes, you are pathetic. I don't care what you think of my sn and I feel sorry for that you can't take me seriously because this obviously isn't the internet.

Right. It was even worst

Anyhoo after waiting 3 years for a movie that turned out shallow and empty I can see why people Complain. It's like the fans invested 10 times more love and energy into this film than any of his creators.

This is a really stupid thread. We complain so Fox knows we are pissed, and won't pull that garbage again. As far as I'm concerned X3 was like Batman & Robin without the nipples.
