I've never understood the "Ambassador for Peace" take on her. First and foremost she is a warrior and that does not mix with being nonviolent at all. I can understand not wanting to kill (soldiers are usually the ones that despise violence the most), but if it's a cause she believes in and feels is just, she doesn't have the time nor the luxury to question herself. While she may not enjoy it, WW will kill if she feels it's necessary. If she were Batman, Joker would've been dead in their first encounter and countless lives (and taxpayers' dollars) would've been saved because of it.

Just to be clear, my favorite runs are by Simone and Azzarello and I despise it when Johns & Loeb write her (or anytime they write any character, for that matter).

It's what make her different from other heroes, it's the reason she was created, to advocate peace, it's in-character because Diana has allways lived on the Island and doesn't know much about the outsider world, above everybody else she should be the one feeling the most bad for taking a human life, since where she came from they have lived peacefully for ages and death is pratically non-existent.

I've always viewed Themyscira as a very anti-male, warmongering state. They've been training and preparing for war & invasion since they were cut off from man's world. They never want to be enslaved or subjugated again. The ancient world was a very violent and primitive place, and being cut off from the rest of the world would only make them even more extreme.

You cannot have peace without non-violence, and Wonder Woman is, at heart, a warrior.

I don't like any of the takes Geoff Johns has on the character. I don't like the cold, robotic murderess and I don't like the cutesy, ice-cream loving innocent.

But let's not forget that Diana was born during peace time, she is by far the most peaceful of the Amazons.

If you mean her killing in order to save thousands of people i agree, but if she fought Joker for example the result would be very similar to Batman's, let's not forget that in the new 52 comic she took Hera in after she lost her powers, even though Hera had just killed her sisters in Themyscira. Diana will not uphold "justice" on her oun unless it's in the middle of the battlefield, hell, even Batman was willing to kill Darkseid if that meant saving the multiverse.

Agreed, i think my favorite takes are the original creator's and Azzarelo's, the later is probably the best way to adapt her, serious, with compassion and determination. Does what's right and sees the faults in even her oun sisters way of living.

I'd prefer Batman never have a love interest on film again, it gets in the way.

I agree that WW origin design was supposed to be one of anti-war/violence.It's only in recent times that she's suddenly become a "warrior".Partly, because it's a PC thing to make her appear more "tough" and partly to appeal to the bloodlust the GA seems to have in general.

Why couldn't Wonder Woman start out as a warrior and grow to appreciate more peaceful resolution?

Because it's the complete opposite of how she started.
I mean she always was a proven warrior, but she uses logic before violence, always has.

I think "love interest to Bruce Wayne" will be her cover.

That when sour after the "Doomsday Sanction" episode.....The look she gave Bruce as she was leaving the infirmary said it all. He has to many "issues" for her.......

Clark and Lois 4 sure but the trickier question is how they make Wondy.

I mean look at her in Injustice: God among us, where she fuels Clarkīs bad side, something the bat isnīt too happy about. Also, look at babel where she votes that Batman is out of the league.
I havenīt read this/her graphic novel but there is one with a cover that shows her foot on top of batmans face. If they go for a Wondy that share the same charachteristics as in the earlier mentioned, then I vote a big no.

Then it makes more sense to go towards someone we havenīt seen yet. That rules out Talia and Selina. Honestly Iīd be fine with Batsy being singel lol.
I guess they could hint a spark between him and Diana like in the JL TV-series but honestly, I think they wont. If they do, they better show Diana at her "softer" side. The New 52 Diana is perfect in that case.
Not that it has been going on for so long so she hasnīt really been put to the test, but I hope she doesnīt get too militant.

Don't want to see her as either. Can't she just be Wonder Woman instead of somebody's stupid love interest?

Also, where is the Wonder Woman + Lex option?

Couldn't agree more with Lord. Marston envisioned WW as an intellectual and a scholar who tries to encourage everyone to share peace and love.

Sadly I can definitely see Snyder being more likely to do the 'cool' 'edgy' killing warrior woman in the new 52. I couldn't believe in the new 52 JL in one of the first couple issues there was a backup thing with some file on WW by Steve Trevor where she apparently slit the throat of a child molester or something.

Why can't they bring in one of Bruce's other loves that doesn't need a large role but appeases fans? Like Vicki Vale, or Julie Madison(give her another shot WB), or even Silver St. Cloud.

Well, i dislike the JL version of her in the new 52, but in her oun comic: Justice League she's much different, it's actually a version of the character i like too, she's a warrior but not "edgy" or violent, as she says to Hades, she likes everybody, not in a romantic way, she simply cares for life.

No, for god's sake no.

Just because there's a woman doesn't mean she needs a goddamn love interest.

And just because there's a woman around Bruce Wayne/Batman doesn't mean she needs to be his love interest.

Just completely undermines her character.

Not to mention Batman has never really fit the love interest route no matter how hard they tried to shove Silver St. Cloud or Vicki Vale or Shondra Kinsolving down our throats.

It's always fit his character better that he flirts with femme fatales like Catwoman or Talia. But his mission and being Batman will always come first.

Just no room for normal romantic relationships in his life.

Traditionally, no. The Amazons have created a peaceful society for themselves away from the pressures of having to defend themselves from the outside world.

And an ambassador. The warrior of peace dichotomy is exactly what makes Diana complex and interesting. You remove that then you don't have the character. I think of her as a knight. Noble but willing to kill if need be.

War trained her while in Paradise Island while Steve Trevor found the Island and took her to men's land, so there you have it, either one of them could have had that role. Batman's just another one

This thread exist because of a rumored casting call for Bruce's love interest, that's the only reason we even look at this possible female as one.

As for using Vicki, Julie, Silver, etc. I see them more as covers for whatever scene Bruce would have with Lex. I don't see Selena or Talia being possibilities due to TDKR's use of them. And honestly, I can see WB just mentioning someone's Vicki, Julie, Silver, etc. as throwaway roles as opposed to Selena, or Talia when they provide better use for any future Batman movies should Ben Affleck start in them.

And I hate the fact that as soon as Wonder Woman was announced, nearly everybody immediately thought "OH OF COURSE BATMAN'S LOVE INTEREST."

It's because the casting call was originally rumored to be for Batman's love interest.
