when they are talking about changing when characters were born It doesn't disprove notion
that at end of DOFP the trilogy and Wolverine films are erased from contunity.

As possable use of famke Janssen and any other OT actor who isn't Hugh jackman that Is totaly up In the air but by Kinberg's comments it doesn't look good for those who want to
see them again.

Yes they did. They have the scene of them in bed. Anyway I thought that was clever but I don't want Jean associated with that terrible book series/movie ever again.

Apocalypse +
The big 3 +
FC cast +
Four horseman
Seems like a lot to fit in a movie.

That's exactly what happens at the end of the movie. When Wolverine changes the past, he reboots the future in the process thereby erasing the events of the X-men trilogy and the Wolverine films (post-1973).

Umm no. Wolverine still remembers what happened in the original trilogy and the Wolverine films (post-1973).

Also, the new timeline existed because of the events that happened in the old timeline. So they are connected.

^ Well, he only remembers them starting in 2023, so nobody before 2023 remembers the original timeline (unless you count what Xavier got a glimpse of from reading Logan's mind).

I'm pretty sure he remembered what happened in DOFP and before DOFP. He time-traveled but nothing from his memory during the trip was wiped out. Like Shadowcat said, he was gonna be the only person that will remember what happened in the bad future.

So its not really a reboot. Its not even the same thing with Star Trek. Because with Star Trek 11, the events of the Star Trek 6 and the last Star trek Generation film didn't lead to an alternate timeline where the characters of Chris Pine/Zachary Quinto exist.

Just because Wolverine remembers the original timeline, it doesn't mean that everyone else remembers it too (besides Xavier) so technically, DOFP became a reboot by the end of the film. Yes, a new timeline was created because of the events of the old timeline but when that happened, the Terminator-esque future was wiped out of existence ( similar to the Back to the Future movies where Marty Mcfly goes back in time to 1956 and helps his dad gain confidence to beat up the bully that was messing with Marty's mom. By doing so, Marty has affected the future where that bully is working for Marty's parents) which is why we have the happy ending that's in the movie.

It is still not a reboot. As future X-Men movies are still connected to the previous X-Men movies. A reboot is something like The Amazing Spider-Man, totally no connection to the previous Spider-Man movies directed by Sam Raimi or The Dark Knight trilogy. Websites aren't calling X-Men: Apocalypse as the 2nd film of the series, right? It is still the 9th film in the series (8th, if you don't count Deadpool).

This. People need to brush up on what the definition of a reboot is. Its a direction continuation of the last film for god's sake! That by its very nature makes it NOT a reboot

If this were a direct continuation of the previous films, it wouldn't have erased the events of the X-trilogy or the Wolverine films nor would X-men: Apocalypse be contradicting those same events so that, by itself, makes DOFP a reboot.

DOFP is a direct continuation of First Class, so you are wrong in that regard. Nothing from First Class was erased. Apocalypse will be the third film chronologically in this continuity. These are not reebots

They were calling it something funny before. Or Bryan Singer was.

Was it inbetweequel?

DOFP Is kind of reboot. But only of trilogy and wolverine solo films after the time travel mission.

You can still see trilogy as back story for future with sentinles In DOFP If you want along with mid credit scene of the wolverine but future films are likely conterdicting what happened in Trilogy

You know what when the day comes, when Wolverine, Cyclops, Professor X, Storm, etc... all get recast and the film has no connection to the original trilogy/Hugh Jackman Wolverine films/First Class/DOFP/Apocalypse and there's no younger/older version, I will call that a reboot.

From X1 to Apocalypse, it is still a string of films connected to each other. "Kind of" doesn't mean it is truly a reboot.

When contunity is thrown out and events from other films conterdicted and films as they exsist no longer fit yeah it is reboot.

we know of 2 actors from non-FC films returning.Hugh Jackman for apocalypse and solo Wolverine film, which i refuse to call wolverine 3 and certinly won't be official title, and Ryan Reynolds for Deadpool.

Casino Royale was reboot despite keeping judi dench as M

William Shatner and Leonard nimoy may be in next star trek film but still it should be seen as third trek film instead of trek 13

Arnold may be playing the terminator again in new terminator film but best just to view it as total reboot less headaces that way even though I liked trailer better than many on
board.

Cyclops,Jean, and storm all being recast in Apocalypse.Gambit being recasted for solo film and possibly APocalypse too.Nightcrawler could also be recast for Apocalypse which further says X2,best X-Men film, has been completly erased. It has been reported that Bryan singer said on commantary of deleted scenes that they changed the ending of DOFP where originaly it was real Stryker who found wolverine so they can change wolverine's back story.

And if they do trilogy after apocalypse with new actors hired for apocalypse, the FC actors they can get back, new actors and possable Jackman if they can get him back
after apocalypse and wolverine then that makes it unlikely they would do another film with original cast

Spectre Is being called 24th bond film even though all the daniel craig bond films have absolutly no contunity with first 20 bond films. There used to be loose contunity where Bond was kind of ageless and each film was just the next adventre of bond.Casino Royale threw all that out the window.Apocalypse will be called the 8th or 9th film in X-Men series by press or 6th film ignoring wolverine solo films and deadpool but it's really as far as contunity goes the thrid or fourth film depending on if you want to count deadpool.

DOFP is also a direct continuation of X3: The Last Stand and The Wolverine but the ending of DOFP completely erases those movies along with Origins, X1, and X2. The definition of reboot is to discard all continuity in an established series in order to recreate its characters, timeline, and backstory from the beginning and if you are going to make a movie with the sole purpose of erasing the previous installments that came before it, then your ARE making a reboot which means that it is you who is wrong.

It's an inbetweequel.

The original timeline is erased but the future cast is not and until Fox confirms that the original cast is done, it can't be considered a reboot. Also, some months (or maybe years) back, Producer Shuler Donner did mention that there was an X4 treatment that led up to X5 and that Fox loved it. Unless she was referring to DOFP leading up to Apocalypse, there's a strong chance that Fox has some pretty epic X-projects under wraps still.

And DoFP didn't do that. At all.

Inless you count pre 1973 parts of origins montage and WWII flashbacks of the wolverine
DOFP did erase continuity from Non-FC films once time travel mission was completed.
