theory based off rumors
Spoiler!!! Click to Read!:
I think maybe Wolverine will kill Stryker in the 70s and something will awaken him halfway through the process (possibly Kitty getting injured), and due to Stryker being dead, Cyclops and Jean will be alive. Wolverine will say something like "what happened?" and Cyclops or Jean will respond "It didn't work"

That is to good to be true but I would love to that appear in the movie.

Its flawed lol, once time changes they won't remember it let alone appear and say it didn't work Logan , its a theory you really seem to be holding on too though that mid way he will wake up

If we go by a lot of the things that have been said we know where they will likely turn up to surprise

Besides IIRC Josh Helman already said he'll want to come back to this role if they'll let him.

Spoiler!!! Click to Read!:
I think it would be awesome if Wolverine does in fact wake up before the job is done and sees minor changes, for instance the location could be different, the battle could have a few more mutants, so on and so forth. He can wake up to witness Cyclops ordering Rogue to take Kitty's power and put him back under, while Storm and Phoenix provide more cover fire to buy a little more time. All Wolverine has to do is tell McXavier that he should teach a certain redhead how to harness her power rather than seal it away, and that it would solve a few setbacks later on in life and bam, welcome back. Although if something along those lines play out then it might take the big surprise out of the ending.

Yup it would ruin the impact of the characters fighting and dying just to do a mini reset

Spoiler!!! Click to Read!:
we seen what looks like a spoiler death in the trailer if that's magneto about to bite it giving his speech

Ignoring how the theory goes against a lot of what we have heard of course

That's not a flaw at all. The timeline would be changed to incorporate different characters, but from their perspective they would have been there all along. If Logan temporarily wakes and the Sentinels are still a threat, then "It didn't work" is exactly what a character would say.

but why would they say it didn't work? because they had sent an alternative logan back in time in that slightly alternative timeline also? but from their point of view nothing would have changed from when they sent him back to the point he woke up?

from the moment he wakes the people who sent him away should be gone and have no memory of it let alone be there when he wakes fully aware they sent him back

although it seems a bigger deal if you believe this is a one shot only deal and that once he wakes up things could be worse but better but no one is going to be doing the same things they were

Another show where her character dies but never really stays dead.

This exactly.

Not for a second saying it's what I think is going to happen, but it makes as much sense as anything else in this story.

Mild spoilers follow for the film, out May 23.

Spoiler!!! Click to Read!:
Vulture has learned that three more mutants filmed secret cameos in the film. To even hint at their identities, though, would reveal a major spoiler.
