It's ironic to watch Spacey's character on House of Cards and realize how awesome a Luthor that would've been but then watching SR and wondering why he didn't play it that way. I've said it before and I'll say it again, if Spacey wouldn't have played Lex so Campy/Hackman like he could have been by far the best and most menacing Lex we have ever seen on film.

I watch House of Cards and think that EVERYONE on that show would make an awesome Luthor.

Corey Stoll, Robin Wright, Spacey, Mahershala Ali, Michael Kelly (Too bad he's already Lombard).

I think there are pockets of menace in Returns.

I can honestly say he's the best character in the movie, though Routh did a pretty good job as Kent, and gave a sympathetic quality to his Superman.

The issue with Spacey in SR isn't Spacey's fault. It's Singer asking him to do an impersonation of Hackman rather than craft his own character.

Yeah, Spacey could have been a great Lex, had Singer not asked him to play character like Hackman did same can be said about Routh's Superman, Singer forced him to do Reeve impersonation and it back fired. Still, I would say they (both actors) tried to make it a bit different.

It was a wasted opportunity.

Spacey had no choice to play Lex the way the character was written and as the director asked him too.

I'm sorry but even on a conceptual level, SR is a misfire, and I am so sad that it has ruined for too many fans the Donner film's signifiers.

I liked reading what Rosenbaum had to say about Jesse, and I can hope for something just like MOS was for me at the theatre. An experience I did not even know I wanted, much less that I would love.

That looks really good, that doesn't look bad at all. If someone wanted it shorter than that, I think more of a fade on the sides from shaved to the fuzzy look at the top. I don't think he needs to look like a cue-ball. I would just go with whatever suits the actors face/head best and I think that right there looks good.

Nice, I really like that. In fact, I'd be cool if they had Lex look just like that but with a suit. That way he's not totally bald but at the same time he doesn't have a full head of hair ala Shea and Hackman. He looks modern , yet not so unlike Lex that he's unrecognizable. Now just add to that a much more creepy and manipulative persona as opposed to the "smartest guy in the room" persona, and you've got a good Lex imo.

I think it would be pretty kool if superman and lex start out as sort of allies against a bigger threat, but as the film goes along, lex starts feeling slighted by the public, supes gets most of the praise, and lex starts to really hate superman. By the films end, lex is the lex we all love to hate.

I agree. I remember a lot of sites ran with the Green Lantern manip someone made as the official costume. Some sites even included that image with their reviews of the movie

I'd be pretty upset if I was the guy who made it. There is a Batman manip that was created by one of SHH's members and I've seen it in nearly every "Ben Affleck is Batman" video on youtube.

Watch that Double trailer and tell me again how Eisenberg won't be a decent Luthor. I will call you a boldfaced liar to your face and then spit on the ground you're standing on.

Oh, that's just precious, Terry.

I feel the same as I always have about him. He'll make a fine Luthor. That said, watching the trailer did somewhat get me to agree that something needs to be done about his voice. Unless he was intentionally making it sound wimpier than it usually is, he can't use his everyday voice. I'm so used to Clancy Brown's Lex, that **** just won't do.

I haven't seen the film but from that trailer it doesn't look like a good gauge of Eisenberg's range. It just looks like nervous Eisenberg meets cocky Eisenberg. I don't believe Snyder hired him because of his range.

I think we're just going to get Eisenberg the way he usually is. Awkward and neurotic.

Yeah, because it's not like Snyder hires great actors for his projects, oh wait he does. People act like he hired these people for the heck of it, and MOS shows that that's not the case. He hired them because he thinks that they're the best choices and will do a good job.
