I want Gotham to be somewhat gothic, but not in an exaggerated Tim Burton way. I want a realistic city but just with a LOT of OLD buildings. And yes a nice cathedral or to, but not mile-high ones, and some gothic skyscrapers in the style that were actually built in the first part of the 20th century.

Sure there can be a few newer buildings in the central part of town or whatever (like the Wayne building), but I want to see a greater concentration of buildings from the first half of the 20th century. And you know, tenement rooftops with water towers and stuff.

I definitely hope we get the classic art deco/gothic look in some way. A modernized version like the Arkham universe Gotham would be perfect.

Not as surreal as Burton or TAS, but with just enough of that timeless Gotham look. Decay and stagnation should be the themes there, representing the tired and weary Batman. Metropolis should in the same way ooze advancement and progress to represent Superman's rising heroism.
Not bad. I can dig that.

I agree with you in all except of Metropolis. Metropolis looked realistic, little futuristic (especially in the Zod vs Superman fight). but you know maybe that'll change a little bit cough Lex cough. a little due to the WE destruction of part of the city. But IMO Metropolis looked great in this movie.

Scope of Nolan's Gotham and the dark, Gothic look of Batman 89/Watchmen/Batman: Arkham games is all I would like to see. Well, try not to exaggerate the Gothic look from Burton's Batman too much.

The Narrows area of Gotham looked great in Batman Begins but other than that it was just a generic looking American city.

I think some parts should be a build set in a big studio or filmed at unrecognizable locations in a city like in the old Bat films and for the narrows/Arkham Asylum in Batman Begins

Gotham is like NY but shouldn't be obvious it really is NY/Chicago or Pittsburgh on film,Detroit is a good location depending on certain locations,I agree it shouldn't be generic but neither an obvious real life city and it worked great in the Burton films,Would have worked in the Schumacher movies too if it weren't for the neon stuff

I didn't really care for Burton's Gotham. It looked REALLY fake and like what it was, a set. This was especially true in Batman Returns, where Gotham was apparently just the city square, the surrounding streets, and Wayne Manor. Schumacher's Gotham would have been perfectly fine if not for all the neon and the random statues of naked people all over the place, logistical nightmare indeed. Still, I'd like Gotham to be more dark and Gothic than it was in the Nolan films. Also, I want snow, I've always liked seeing it snow in Gotham.

It actually makes sense why there'd be so much crime in Schumacher's Gotham. Everybody is unemployed because noone can commute to their jobs.

I loved the statues.
Schumacher might have got a little carried away with them, but I thought Burton's gotham had the right amount.

I REALLY want to see TAS Art Deco buildings here and there.

This is a real place. So it's not too unrealistic, right?

Agreed Gotham did look cool in the Arkham series.

Detroit as Gotham. Still not sure where Metropolis will be. Vancouver? I heard last year it was Toronto.

Art Deco is what you're looking for. I would like that, but they will have to CGI it into Detroit, with its biggest landmarks all looking fairly modern. It is the rest of the city that is in decay.

Essentially, I always thought the Gotham of the Arkham games is TAS' Art Deco meets Batman and Batman Returns' gothic, urban nightmares. Shooting in Detroit kind of promises it will not be either of those.
