Default How to reboot the X-Men

Charles Xavier school gifted youngsters.
Starting from the basics that I'd change if you do not like this you won't like what else I have to say. Get rid of the emphasis on genetic mutations, and trying to say evolution would account for Quicksilver's super speed. If you go that route of naturalism, Quicksilver would at most be a cheetah at 70 miles per hour for a quick burst. Or Wolverine growing back a limb months later, not recovering from a bullet would in seconds. Unless they brought the villain High evolutionary who'd be doing secret experiments with DNA for a long time and the mutants came about because of him. The problem there would be too similar to Marvel with Captain America, or Hulk. I'd try to be different with saturation, of that sort of superhero. So instead of going genetic I think X-Men should go paranormal.
This is not going into a text-book it's a fictional movie you can bend the rules.
Charles up against the golden calf of science, I think this is a better fit than Charles sucking up to science and saying mutants powers to bend metal are part of evolutions which is absurd. I think in this fictional story Charles and science are natural enemies rather than allies.
