Default Was Wolverine: Origins really that bad?!! (Spoiler)

Still shocked they ignored Wolverine's first movie, which I liked aside from Fakepool, but I can understand why they had to because that movie and First Class cannot exist due to the continuity errors.

The Pros:

- Tyler Mane can get his job back as Sabretooth

- Channing Tatum can make his debut as Gambit no problem since Taylor Kitsch has been deleted.

- It was young Xavier professor during that time, not younger Patrick Stewart.

- Ryan Reynolds can re-debut as the real Deadpool

The Cons:

- Goodbye opening sequence of Origins. My favorite part of the movie.

- Wolverine may not have fought in Vietnam. (Origins and DOFP both take place in 1973.)

- I enjoyed Danny Huston's portrayal as young Stryker so it sucks that he wasn't in DOFP and doesn't exist now.

Origins was in 1975, 1979 and 1987 if we talk about Vietnam and after that.

I enjoyed some of it. Hugh was great of course, Liev was excellent as Sabretooth. I like Gambit, and the opening sequence

That film was shockingly bad. Without a doubt the worst film in the X-Men franchise.

Okay, I admit that there were *some* good scenes.

So for me it's a bad movie with a few good scenes. I don't regret watching it, but nevertheless it's the worst movie of the Franchise.

Everything BEFORE 1973 still exists which means that, technically, a lot of X-Men Origins: Wolverine still happened. The only thing they retconned was the main storyline. The same applies to The Wolverine. The World War II story still exists.

Only one single moment brought me the slightlest flicker of entertainment and that when Deadpool did his 'helicopter sword thingy', other than that I hated every single minute of that movie.

The short answer is yes.

The long answer is that other than Liev Schrieber, very much yes.

Just with the visuals, it just looked really cheap. So I couldn't try to have some enjoyment while watching it.

Yea it was. It had some cool scenes but it just didn't form a good movie.

The main problem is was it was supposed to show Logan at his most violent, where he was an animal. It was supposed to show him learn to control his animal side and regain his humanity.

Well, it didn't. This was the most neutered Wolverine has been in any of the movies.

The movie was indeed terrible, not just as a Wolverine movie, but also as a film itself, didn't know its tone, pacing was all over the place, story was full of plot holes and inconsistencies, etc.

I'm glad they used the flashbacks from X-1/X-2 instead, were more brutal and trully showed what Logan had to suffer through.

It was so bad, that Fox seems to have:

just retconned it out of continuity with DOFP.

Someone I know had an amusing joke about that. All throughout the movie, characters kept telling Wolverine that "you're not an animal." Then when we get to a scene where Wolverine saves someone, he's like "Yeah Wolverine, you're not an animal. In fact, you're the nicest guy in this movie."

I want Liev Schrieber to come back as Sabertooth not that original guy.

Also, I like Origins. As others have said it has some cool scenes. However, the bad cgi claws do get on my nerves.

My post from another thread and section (lot of biased):

Here's why:

1) It's easy to forget about it when watching other and more important X-Men movies. It's an Origins story. So you can just take this movie for a general idea.

2) Liev Schreiber as Sabertooth is one of the greatest X-Men Villains to date.

3) This movie came out during the summer/spring of my senior year in high school (before college). So I got a lot of nostalgia here.

4) It's one of those "so corny it's good movies" like Fast & the Furious.

If Deadpool wasn't in this movie and they didn't do the adamantium bullets, it might have actually been ok.

I'm also ashamed that there is no clear forum section of where to talk about the classic that is X-Men Origins: Wolverine!

Not many of the X-Men files did.

I would have geeked if it was Sabretooth who pulled Wolverine out of the water, after all 'he didn't call or write' lol. But I'll stick to my theory of Sabretooth being stuck in Vietnam alone and maybe being found by Stryker there.

I liked the movie. It had some great moments. It was overall very entertaining. It was plagued by some bad CGI shots I hope they will re-do in the future to come.

Said that, I don't understand the hate. It's the weakest movie in the saga, but hating it? God, no.

it is a terrible movie on all fronts. When it came out, I could not believe some people championed it over the Last Stand ("at least it's better than TLS!!!"). The Last Stand was an inept movie, but this barely qualifies as one. Thankfully time has withered away those sentiments. It now sits comfortably as the worst of the franchise by far.
