I think DOFP will be fine. It's poised to be the highest domestic gross this year. TF4 isn't that franchise anymore and neither is Spidey. 300 million should not be a problem given its release window.

But all it proves is that it took Fox another OT ensemble to bring in that kind of doe. Doesn't really say much when you adjust for inflation. So unless it does a ridiculous Iron Man 3 or TDK sort of number, it doesn't prove anything Fox didn't already know. 650 is probably break even point or less, so they need 750 minimum to call it a solid investment.

Even with that (750), it tells Fox the franchise is running out of gas. X-Force and Deadpool will only be so profitable given a healthy sized budget. Fox execs acknowledged this just last year after The Wolverine. When Wolverine is going to no longer do better than average numbers, Fox has a serious problem.

My guess is Fox is going to do the bare minimum with their FF film until they get past OW for DoFP. Then they will know what they can green light and cut in the production for FF. It will probably be a micromanaged production and Trank will not have more than 100 million to work with. So actors may be flying in to get fitted and what not, but no major set pieces will start filming and the script will probably still be very fluid in terms of material they can edit or flat out cut.

I don't think DOFP will make any difference. The actors are in Baton Rouge and according to Kinberg, shooting start around May 5. By the time they have enough meaningful information on DOFP box, they'll be 1/3 of the way through the shoot.

I think if DOFP had any impact on this film they would have scheduled production to start in June instead of May.
