You've seen the last shot at the end of many trailers, it's Spidey swinging the manhole cover.

Whoever is going around saying that TASM 3 will continue on from the ending of TASM 2 is pulling it out their arse.

Basically the ending of TASM 2 is to establish a larger universe, demonstrating to us that Spidey is out there fighting villains.

Well look at this way, it was 2002, this genre was still in its infancy, Raimi had one chance to make the movie a hit and imo did the right thing with going the the beat villain there is. At that time movies were made one at a time

While nowadays a trilogy is more or less assured when one begins a franchise giving the writers more freedom to think about a wider arc and use a smaller villain in the first movie and the bigger villains later

About the costume, I liked how it was a flight suit, made the story more plausible, I wont be able to take him seriously if he runs around in a green and purple rubber spandex. Though agree that they should have made a different kind of mask.

The first two paragraphs aren't really relevant to the question. That still hinders Dafoe to be the definite Green Goblin in my eyes.

Hey, at least we know that there are more positive reviews than people will see and that the movie is better recieved than most people think. So that's something.

A very well written and articulated rave review by Georgia Minzen, via TheUpcoming.co.uk:

Quote:
What this film teaches us is that the pursuit of truth, right and love is not happily ever after – this is stark realism, interspersed in battle scenes between a hybrid Spider-Man and a monster powered by electricity. It is impressive, nail-biting stuff in cinematic feats of CGI and design.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 isn’t full of cheap gunfights nor sugar-coated happy endings, it is a struggle from beginning to end – for Peter, for Gwen, for Aunt May, for Harry, for Max. It is gripping, tragic and surprisingly meaningful. The web-like mass of interlinking stories make for a truly powerful depiction of this hero’s greatest battle. If you don’t walk out of the cinema with a lapful of popcorn and tears, you didn’t have your 3D glasses on right.

Yes, but more than the grade, I feel that she and Teekay were the best movie critics when it comes to express what the film actually is, without any sort of bias or snark. I wish more reviewers were like them.

Not really that great of a review. Glad she liked it but more write up needed.

It's mainly because most of the positive critic reviews seem positive by the skin of their teeth, most of them aren't really glowing, and most of them confirm the biggest criticism aimed towards this film ever since the first trailer, there's too much going on and it hurts the film.

I think amongst traditional critics, this film will be met with critiques on a busy plot and frustrating loose ends.

However, as a comic fan, this sounds pretty much exactly what a comic book is. You have a main issue resolved by the end of an arc's end, but many seeds get planted for what's coming next throughout.

It's not an approach much used in film, and for all we know (I haven't seen the movie) maybe they didn't handle those comic-like aspects as well as they should have. However, I'm holding out hope that they did.

But guys, even if these critics end up being wrong about it, some of you really need to stop just writing off critics because they don't agree with you. You haven't seen it yet, they have. I'm as optimistic as anyone, but that doesn't mean you have to be a bigot about it.

I don't think that we are writing them off. But when they compare the film to Batman and Robin and call Electro an "electric smurf" you can't help but question the critic's credibility.

Default Re: The Amazing Spiderman 2 - User Review Thread! - SPOILERS! - Part 1

If a review isn't well-written, it loses credibility with me and it doesn't matter if the review is negative or positive. Going too far into either direction makes me raise an eyebrow as well--calling Electro a blue smurf or saying things like "it's the bestest movie evar!"
