These are my settings.

And go from here..

To here.

The outdoor scenes are beautiful to watch, though the explosions are a little too bright and the flares are a bit more noticeable. Though seeing Superman's cape as bright red and his costume as dark blue is worth it
Just tried it myself. Looks great! Thanks for the suggestion, Coco.

Funny enough, I wouldn't mind a "fan-re-saturated" version to hit the net off of screencams of it being played within the confines of "proper" settings

But I'd only watch it after buying

That's too much. That's like watching a movie on your TV and setting it to vivid picture setting and not movie.

^ There are scenes that seemed to have been lit with undersaturation in mind, thus the effect is occasionally too strong. I found what I think are the best settings for the film in general. Though people can turn the colors up and down, it's all relative

If you can trade this
for this..

Why wouldn't you?

The thing that bothers me about complaints of this nature with any film is that any movie worth it's salt tends to have a wide variety of colour palettes as the films rolls through, often times specific to mood or location. See begins, see blade see Xmen, see bay, see cameron....etc.
I was just kidding, mang. I didn't have a problem with the MoS color palette.

Curious, what "TV movie" look were you referring to?

What is the VLC trick? I have not heard of that. Is that a setting or something on the TV when viewing the Blu-Ray?

That was a real cape in that shot.

I was responding to your post, not so much your personal feelings. That's all I can do.

As for the TV movie look. It's a complicated issue. Whereas I fully appreciate what over saturation can yield such as the many beautifully shot Michael Bay movies out and about(including pain and gain).

I am referring to what often happens with the lack of decisive filtering. How it can tend to yield something not so much different form what tv budgeted visuals are limited to.
Spoiler!!! Click to Read!:
Lot's of colour but...tv

this one from a movie

the filtered effect

Outside of the Alan Taylor Thor film(and a few scenes in the some of the other films), I find most of the MCU falls into this trap. As much as I dig TWS, I personally would have really enjoyed it more if it had the 90's spy movie feel. Complete with the blue Washington open. Something like Enemy of the State. Instead it's more of that marvel look.

I think Bruckheimer circa 90's found a happy medium between color and filtering(see armageddon/top gun) and I would hope we get some of that in the next film. Particularly in the contrast between a non tragic and more welcoming metropolis vs gotham.

I would just like to point out that the cape was not CGI all the time in the movie, Snyder cleverly switches between the real cape with a CGI cape in the movie.

Here's a set pic that shows the "real" cape.

Except in the scene that TheFlamingCoco showed, I'm pretty sure Snyder used CGI. I know he didn't use it all the time.

Actually they used the cape depending on the requirement of the scene or what they wanted from cape flow. Superman standing at a low angle with the camera above his head seems like a practical cape shot, him launching himself at super speed(as you have posted above) seems like a cgi cape shot.

imo

^ If Superman's walking, it's probably a real cape. If he's jumping or flying, it's probably CG

I'm pretty sure there were some walking scenes with the cgi cape. Snyder wanted it to flap a certain way. For example when he emerged from the fortress.
However I'm pretty sure when he was standing there looking up with the camera in the front it was all practical.

It wasn't a practical shot. The entire scene where Superman is walking around the Arctic (including the shot that FlamingCoco had posted) had his cape entirely in CG. You see it for a short moment towards the end of the video.

Cg, practical, can't we all just get along?

I don't think you can tell from that video that every shot of him in the arctic was cg. And I think the fact that it requires this much discussion shows just how well they pulled of the cg cape, IMO.

The video in question doesn't prove the entire scene was only, as we already know, moments were.

I personally think for the shot in question, the attachment was practical and the flapping was cgi. Guess we'll never know.

^ I loved that the CG animators were afraid that it felt too realistic, and that they were afraid that the cape would be perceived as being pulled along by separate wires

I like that Zack kept it like that. If a CG cape allows Batman to run and fight like an athlete, I'm for it

$20 says batman's cape (and hopefully wondy's too) are cgi. Batman cape porn is second only to Spawn, and knowing Snyder....

This definitely. Batman with a cgi cape in certain scenes (like MoS) will allow for a lot of faster and more fluid movements without the cumbersome nature of this thing dragging behind him.

Plus, Snyder knows his cape porn...I have faith!

It's amusing how silly this scene looks here and how awesome it looks with all the CGI and other jazz added to it for the final product.

Yeah. If Superman had a CG cape at times, I am 100% sure Batman will get one too. And it ought to make for some glorious shots.
