Default Simon Kinberg talks about the film's tone and story

I already posted this in the Reborn thread, but what the hey?

http://screenrant.com/simon-kinberg-...c-four-reboot/

Quote:
[About the film being "darker"]: "It’s still in the direction of [Sam Raimi's] ‘Spider-Man.’ It’s not like ‘Dark Knight.’ And even ‘Chronicle’ has a lot of fun in it. We’re treating this as the origin of the Fantastic Four so in future movies you’d have them on sort of splashier adventures to some extent but in this one we tried to ground the science as much as possible and make it feel like it could take place in our world before it cantilevers into other worlds."
From Den of Geek:

Quote:
"We’re definitely telling a younger story that the original films did. It depends on what books you look at. There are some, like the Ultimate books, that tell this story. So it is an origin story of the Fantastic Four, and it does follow them before they really know what a superhero is....They’re older than high school, but they’re not quite grown into the world. If anything, this is a coming of age story."...Pressed on whether we’ll see the iconic sequence in which the Four gain their powers after being bombarded with cosmic rays during a space flight, Kinberg was more reticent about the details:"There is archetypal imagery of how they get their powers, for sure, and it does involve some sort of scientific travel." The movie begins shooting in Louisiana in about two weeks.

Simon Kinberg also recently talked about how Iceman was played by multiple actors throughout the X-franchise and how Fox should make that X-Men TV show (they don't have the rights for!). Simon Kinberg's a funny guy.

I feel really bad for Ashmore. God knows what he had to go through to get that part.

Wow, did he really say all that? And this is the guy whose word we're taking that the FF reboot's getting made?

The Iceman thing was a slip of the tongue (probably confusing with Shadowcat, who did have cameos played by multiple actresses before they gave her a consistent actress), and the TV show was probably more wishful thinking on Kinberg's part than anything else.

It probably was a slip of the tongue, but not because of Kitty. He also used her and Pyro as examples, but those two were correct. The Iceman thing was funny, though, because he actually used both names (he said something along the lines of "Bobby, or Iceman"), almost emphasizing that one in a way. I'm sure Kinberg a great guy in real life, but he's not ready for the big push Fox is giving him as a promoter. It's really a shame he got thrown into that role due to the unfortunate circumstances going on.

Or maybe Ashmore's twin brother was actually the one in some of the films.

Conspiracy!

I was referring to how blunt and simplistic the statement was phrased, like a kid saying "I don't like peas". I wasn't sure if he was mocking the anti-Kinberg people by portraying them as simple-minded, or if he was genuinely voicing an opinion.

In any case, I don't have a problem with people not liking Kinberg, as he does have kind of a lame filmography. Still, if he's successful with DOFP (and Star Wars Rebels and Ouija, I guess), his reputation might improve a little.

This is the guy who wrote X-Men: Days of Future Past which is getting stellar reviews. People on here dislike him because he is working with Fox and the Fantastic Four movie. I am sure he is going to do a terrific job on FF.

Is judging him on the thread in question of which paints the picture of him flip flopping on the direction of these films okay?

That was a reference to the My Way Entertainment fan dub.
