There was a batman symbol seen in the movie along with the word batman.

I believe they had the idea or goal (or plans) of eventually doing a team film, but Iron Man was really just testing the waters so to speak. Building a series based on a bunch of B level characters- and then to a team film was a risky gamble back in 2007-08. Not the sure thing that it is now.

Like Endless mentioned, the Fury cameo was planting a seed. Nothing was set in stone at that point.

I didn't either, but that doesn't mean there's not one hidden somewhere as an Easter Egg

According to Empire Magazine Online, there's a "Keep Calm and Call Batman" sign visible when Zod is destroying buildings with his heat vision.

Snyder also lied about Zod! I for one don't want to know every spoiler for future films.

There's also a Spider-Man poster in The Dark Knight. Does that mean Spider-Man exists?

It's a poster for the spider man movie that was already part of the location Nolan needed for his shot. It means that spider man movies exist in the world of The Dark Knight.

But now you're bringing in outside knowledge to what the film presents, that does not mean Spider-Man doesn't exist.

By the same token that poster is for the fictional character of Batman. It means Batman exists as a DC Comics character.

It's not the same logic at all. TDK and MoS are in different universes. TDK has no broader mythology, in contrast MoS was bursting at the seams with easter eggs.

Do you really think that Batman is a fictional character in the world of MoS? Will Bruce Wayne be somebody who takes on the mantle of Batman because he read comics of someone with the same name becoming Batman?

Oh, and this wasn't a poster for the new Batman movie like what we saw in TDK.

Your comparing The Dark Knight to the real world, but not Man of Steel. So how is my reasoning of comparing them both to the regular world illogical?

No. I just don't think it's supposed to be taken seriously. They also used the Nolan Wayne Enterprises, doesn't mean it exists. And Blaze Comics publicises Booster Gold's exploits, so surely Superman by definition can't be the first superhero, because Booster Gold exists.

Neither of them are realistic, but MoS is less realistic.

But in all seriousness, the Batman poster is deliberately in MoS, whereas the Spider Man poster is explicitly a movie poster, and is probably only in TDK as an error.

What is "the Nolan Wayne Enterprises"?

Wayne Enterprises and LuthorCorp exist in MoS. Batman exists. Blaze Comics exists which doesn't necessarily mean that Booster Gold exists, it's not as though he has to found them.

Well then why not just take it as a nod? Especially if Batman is supposed to not be a well known figure. I think a mass produced poster violates that kind of thinking.

The Nolan Wayne Enterprises is the version of Wayne Enterprises as seen in Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight Trilogy" as illustrated with the logo made for his film series.

We interrupt your regularly scheduled way too serious about the most inane BS in a CBM debate to bring you this news: Zack Snyder to direct follow up films to MAN OF STEEL.

?????

Why can't urban legends have their own mass-produced posters? I imagine Batman ("the urban legend") to be like UFOs and black flag operations and the loch-ness monster in the public imagination of the MoSverse.

Do you interpret the term urban legend differently?

I had forgotten that the logo varies from one version to the next, but now I recall Snyder saying that it was a deliberate homage. They might just use the same logo in this universe.

Has anyone said the words urban legend? All we know is Superman is the first known hero, according to Goyer.

Anyway, like Krypton Inc brought up. This is a stupid conversation. I just think it's ridiculous to think it's anything more than a nod.

Exactly! Even in the commentary for MoS Snyder said nearly every easter egg in the movie and in particular that zod v superman fight scene that it was done by the special effects/post production guys and that he didn't come up with them.

Damn, you got a commentary on your blu-ray?

Lucky bastard. There is no director's commentary on mine.

Do you mean commentary in the literal sense that he is commenting alongside the movie or one of the features on the bluray?
