Although TDKR's script was woeful, I think Bale did as well as anyone could in selling its central conceits.

Yes, Nrgh Bhratt Vroish was embarrassing at times, but the thinking behind it was sound. The sound editor and the director should have done more to mitigate its failure.

Overall, I think Bale was a clear asset to the trilogy. He was often made to look stupid by poor scripting (particularly TDKR), bad fight choreography, a horrible looking Batsuit and the silly voice. But all actors sometimes have those things thrust upon them.
I believe this sums up my thoughts pretty well.

Whatever you say, pal. Maybe the word "fail" doesn't agree with you. I strongly, strongly disagree with your assessment of Bale's casting and performances as they have no clear basis, seem to be conjured up in order to appear contrarian, and reek of stupidity.

Did that sound better?

Regarding the Batvoice, a big reason for it being more exaggerated after BB was that the new Batsuit made it very difficult or even impossible to breathe through the nose. That's why Bale's mouth was open so much - he had to breathe that way. This affected the voice (test it out saying something deeply then plugging your nose and repeating what you said ). I think it was less a stylistic choice and more just a result of wearing the newer mask.

So he got a horrible looking suit, which resulted in a horrible voice?

That's just a bad combo for a Batman movie.

That is why tequila is better than wallets, the cats are purple, ohhh why?????
But in other cases, not so much.

And that is one of the reasons Bale went with that bat-voice.

It is so strange when you are not on these boards regularly to see the tide change. Back in the day, all I remembered all I was seeing getting posted and said everywhere and even used as signatures was "Bale Dammit".

After the Batman movies started coming out everyone seemed to be saying the movies were 10/10, etc.

Now, it seems a lot of people have issues with the films. Is it because their excitement for the movies clouded their judgment? Is it because they didn't like the suits? I remember before people were complaining the Batman suit was "teh puffy", then it seemed everyone liked it, and now it seems they only liked the "Batman Begins" suit and not the ones from the next movies.

It is very odd to see the changes. It kind of makes me wonder what happened after the movies. They don't seem dated to me, the movies are good, Bale is to me the best Batman and the Nolan Batman movies managed to be serious and about as realistic as you could get with a story like the one of Batman.

Not a bad idea.

But first, I shall do drugs, and run around LA naked, slapping the ground for no reason whatsoever.

For me, Bale was the best Batman we had thus far. Sure, he was a bit more human than most comic depictions of the character, but thats to be expected in a movie. I really like what he did with Batman (even the growl) and LOVE his Bruce Wayne. In my heart he will always be my movie Batman.

Keaton was pretty good in my eyes. I rewatched both Burton films recently and found him to be the best part of both. The problem is that he is given nothing to work with and the overall ridiculousness of those movies (Batman 89 makes no goddamned sense in its final third, while Batman Returns is a visually interesting trainwreck from the get go). Still... I really like what he did with that quiet anger.
Yeah. That's how i see it too.

Anybody see "Neighbors" this weekend? There's a hilarious bit when Seth Rogen and Zac Efron are on shrooms, laying back and Seth asks "Who's your batman?". Some great impressions ensue Bale vs Keaton.

The scene where he is driving Vicki back to the Bat cave is really strong work from Keaton and he doesn't even say a line of dialogue. It's all in his face and eyes.
I think that I agree with you on these points..
But that said, we must all realize that these decisions are not coming from the Actor themselves. . .at least 90% of it comes from the Director...
And if you read the old articles where Burton was defending his choice of Keaton? His eyes are exactly what he speaks of.. The feeling that you, "Endless", got from Keaton's portrayal was exactly what Burton was going for.. And why he chose Keaton in the first place.

As far as Bayle? His voice? The overused energy while in the suit?

That is ALL by Nolan's request and direction..
Nolan shoots everything himself, and does many takes to get exactly what he wants.
Directors may take hints, or suggestions from some actors at times.. But it is usually their call.
Especially Nolan..
Goyers weak as script.. Tightened up by Nolan's brother?
Nolan gave it the green light and liked it..
Bayle's voice, and the amount of volume behind it? The excessive monologues while in the cowl?
Nolan gave it the green light, and liked it..
The design of the suit for all 3 films?
Linda did what Bolan wanted.. And designed..
Nolan gave it the green light, and liked it..
The same reason why Banes voice was done the way that it was.. And left the way it was..
Nolan got his way on everything..

As far as Ben, and his fitness? And/or his performance to come?
It will be Snyder..
I think that leaving Goyer's work behind, and going in a different direction for MOS2 is a good sign..
I also hope that they leave a bit of that Nolan reality behind, and do not feel the need that everything needs to be explained in the new film.
We shall see..

But I think if Snyder wanted Batman to be in Henry type shape? It would happen.
We have seen Ben in better shape, though I think that he looks fine now.. I think that Snyder is the one deciding how Ben will look in and out of the costume.
For better or for worse..
I think that this will much more Snyder's film than the first MOS. Less Nolan, and more Snyder..
And with Ben in the role? I think that it has some good potential..
I look forward to seeing Ben in the suit.. And I look forward to seeing some more Snyder like fight scenes..

I have heard that. Urgh they should have tweaked the Batsuit, the open mouth thing really got to me! Such a tiny thing but it was really annoying. I liked Bale as Batman though, even if he was a mouth breather.

I wonder if this batsuit will let Batman breath properly?
Wilkinson hope you had taken notes

Not a big fan of the last 2 batsuits. Unlike other people TDKT is the best trilogy ever made in the cmb genre so far. It will have a place in my heart, even with their flaws I'll always remember them. Especially TDK.

And I have to say Keaton is my favorite batman so far and Bale is my favorite Bruce so far (his batman was decent tough I saw him in other roles being absolutely wonderful, great and awesome).

I never thought Bale was phenomenal in the role. He was good. That's as good a compliment as I can give him.

I haven't been blown away by any of the live action Batmen, and I honestly don't expect Affleck to be any different in that regard. I'm optimistic that I'll like him just as much as Bale.

Just out of curiosity, do you have a dream casting when it comes to Batman?
