Petition likely won't make a difference. Honestly, I think someone maybe need to get Sam Raimi interested, and see if that could help move this along.

I definitely would like to try and reach out to him but he's not particularly connected by the looks of it. No official twitter, let alone one that'd he check himself.

I think Ted Raimi has twitter though. I see no verification but he has a lot of followers. Maybe he could be an in, afterall I think one of his scenes got cut too lol.

I was thinking maybe James Franco could be a target too. I imagine he's pretty active online, he's close to Raimi still, and is still referencing his role in Spider-Man in films like "This Is The End"

Approaching Ted and Franco are good ideas

Both of them should know how to get a hold of Raimi.

Is anybody here members of other, similar forums? This is my go-to superhero board, so I could really do with some help spreading the word to other sites. I've been doing the rounds on facebook.

A plan needs to be formulated to reach out to them effectively. Anyone got any ideas?

How active is Ted with fans? If he is active/friendly, I would just say just get a bunch of fans to ask him via twitter. If many people do it, it may get attention.

I'm not even sure Franco manages his twitter account. But wouldn't hurt to try his page.

You could get the TASM2 directors cut guy involved maybe, he's had a lot of people write about him so he clearly knows people

Just checked Ted's Twitter. It does seem pretty legit. He doesn't seem that active with fans though.

Tobey and Kristen have an official Twitter too. Though Tobey hasn't tweeted in almost a year and I think it's obvious someone manages it for him.

And Kirsten likely just doesn't care.

Sam Raimi talked about a Spider-Man 3.1 years ago and said he didn't like the idea of it because he feels the only version of a movie the audience should know of is the theatrical version.

Tried to find the interview of it online, no luck. Props if someone can find it.

This?

Quote:
I know it's a bit early, but have you already started thinking about the DVD? And were there any sequences that you had to cut out of the film?

Well, there were a lot of things that we wrote of and didn't shoot, or things that we shot that we didn't think finally were appropriate. We put something in the picture and realized, that's already obvious from the visuals, we don't have to say that, it's better with a look. So like any film, you lose lines and bits, and usually exposition that may not be necessary. Although some of it adds character, it's always a balancing act. So yes, there were things that were cut out of the picture, and yes, I've begun thinking about the DVD, because only in the crudest sense I've got to plot time after the promotion to work on the color timing with the director of photography, Bill Pope and my editor Bob Murawski. And make sure all of these extra pieces are properly--

What kind of extra pieces are you talking about?

I, you know, I don't develop what they are. I just look at them and say, you guys have already used that shot, can we take that out? I'm more like a very distant editor on it.

But you approve the DVD extras?

Yes, I do.

How many minutes about were cut out of the film that we may expect on the DVD?

I have no idea about that. I don't know if they're going to include extra minutes or if we're going to include extra minutes of the film or not.

Recently Spiderman 2.1 came out with 8 additional minutes. Were you involved in that?

Yes, that I supervised. And Sony came to me and said, we want to make a 2.1 that gives fans more of the movie. I said but well, the problem is, I want to be good to you Sony, but the problem is you gave me my director's cut with the main picture, and I don't want to punish you now, but that, I really liked, that was the movie I wanted to make and you let me make it and I'm thankful for it. They said well, don't you have things we could still put in that the fans may want to see? I said okay, we won't call it the director's cut, but there's some additional insight into character, there's a few lines, there's a few little action bits that were, maybe were unnecessary to make the point that they said the fans would want to see, so that's what 2.1 is.

So Spiderman 3 is completely your director's cut then? I assume it's the same?

Yes, we've had a very good relationship like that throughout all the pictures. There are discussions and there's compromises that you make in any relationship, but I'm very happy with the picture.

It'd be cool if he was in involved, but there is plenty of "Extended Editions" or "Director's Cuts" where the director wasn't.

I am active on Community.ComicBookResources, I can share the new petition on there and see what happens.

Yeah. Raimi may not be interested, BUT this is an interview from 2007 and we know he's been more openly disappointed with the film in recent years.

If you could share on that site it would be most appreciated. I am continuing to explore the depths of facebook for support, and hoping to hear from Sevenwebheads as well.

I've reached out to a number of blogs and news sites, awaiting responses. Sadly I've still not heard back from Sevenwebheads about supporting the cause. In the meantime he has started to promote the ASM2 petition. I don't know if that's good for us or bad for us really. Hopefully he'll get back to me.

Looking for support on twitter. There's an account and some tweets up there, but I can't get any traction without some RTs etc. If anyone has a twitter account and wants to help spread the word, I'd much appreciate it.

Getting about 10 signings a day so far. Slow going. Hoping to build some momentum.

Well... what a weird 23 minutes I just had. I just finished a Skype chat with SevenWebHeads who wanted to know about SM3's deleted scenes. That'll go up on youtube soon to promote the petition.

I'm also still in contact with the gentleman behind the ASM2 director's cut petition who is going to lend some support as well.

I wanna say thanks to everyone here who has helped so far. This escalated quickly.

Do any of these early versions of the script exist online?

Not that I've seen. The making of book covers the basics of the original Sandman/Vulture plot, and the novelization is based on the original script featuring Venom.

And back in like 05 I found an article which claimed 3 villains for spider-man 3 (Harry, vulture, and sandman) and that the increase in number was to represent Peter being overwhelmed protecting MJ. I too read the novelization, I too have tracked the what it could have been sm3. Dunno if you've checked this out?

http://www.propstore.com/product/spi...n-puppet-head/

You should add it to your 3.1 list since it said it was filmed.

Anyway I'd love to discuss this more. Message me if you'd like!

Someone (maybe you?) just posted that on the SM3.1 facebook. Interesting stuff, makes me wonder how much extra finale material is out there.

Happy to report the petition just crossed 700 sigs. We got a huge boost from Sevenwebheads. I'm trying to come up with new ways to reach out to people, especially those in a position to get things done. Sam Raimi has no presence online at all which is a huge downer. If anyone has suggestions I'd love to hear them.

Holy crap! Congrat man!

So far, this is a good grss roots campaign! As far as reaching Raimi, if the man has no online presence, it might be hard. You could always try sending him something in the mail if you can track down a contact address.

Cheers man. I appreciate the support.

It's been a long week of real-life troubles and sadly I got pretty much nothing done as far as SM3.1 goes. The petition is still ticking along, but it really needs another push. Anyone got any ideas?
