Big Ben doesn't quite look like that, but it's a lovely composition.

One of my favorites as well. Very Gothic.

For just a second, I thought you were talking about Batfleck.

Adams was always a fave of mine. He did some interesting stuff. One I thought was neat was a page in a Deadman comic. At first glance it looked like a normal comics page with about 9 panels or so, but when you held the book at arm's length, the panels formed an image of Deadman's face. There was also a scene that had these sort of long thin trails of smoke, that, when held at the right angle formed the words : "Another Jim Steranko effect". Cool stuff I thought.

Came across this in the BatScot archives...

... which garnered a bit of a following back in the 'please can we see something other than another black rubber suit' days. It was that creature of the night look we were drawn to, and while Batfleck certainly has more bulk...

... there is a similar evocation.

That's the first image I thought of back when the reveal came up. It must've been some years ago that I fell in love with the concept. I'm elated to see it actually come to fruition in some form.

Did anyone see the new Batgirl design?

I like that it seems more "possible" to actually exist, although you could argue it couldn't offer much in the way of protection against bullets and whatnot.

I wonder what concepts for a Batsuit might be like that used more "real-world" clothing components like a jacket or separate pants etc..

I always wondered how many different pieces Batman has to put on and with some of the costumes, I would wonder how he actually would ever put that stuff on. And don't get me started how the Batpole from '66 Batman confused me as a kid.

I like the colour scheme. I'm not sure that giving a superhero a leather jacket and Doc Martin's is particulalry revelatory, though. I seem to recall a lot of that in the 90s.

I think it's really cute.

However, I maybe wouldn't have the cape buttoned on.

Yeah that's one of those logistical things about it that make you wonder. Although in comic-book realty you could say the snaps are reinforced some special-way yadda yadda.

Still, you make a good point.

I don't see what the problem would be at all. If it gets pulled off it gets pulled off, no big deal. In fact it could even be safer in terms of stopping people from being able to grab her with it and immobilise her.

But frankly, I think 4 press-studs/snaps would have a fair bit of holding power. They can be pretty tough.

i actually don't hate that Batgirl suit, but I don't want Robin and Batman to wear anything similar.

Did they de-age her or something? Wasn't Barbara in her 20's? She looks like a teen there. It's an ok look that will be completely odd standing next to Batman.

yeah agreed with that last sentence.

It works for a suit that Barbara would use before she's officially endorsed by Batman. If she's working with Batman, I'd imagine he'd have something made for her that's a bit more durable.

IMO this suit was perfect. This is the look of someone partnered up with Batman and Robin. and makes sense for someone who's already taken a bullet for the cause

This has the look of cosplay

i actually like both designs. maybe the leather suit is the one she wears before working alongside Batman and Robin, and she gets the armored one once she's already worked with them?

I wouldn't have a problem with that

I cannot understand the relation with the concept of a creature of the night (to scare the **** out of bad guys) and the color scheme adopted for the Batgirl. I mean, a yellow cape and a vivid purple?

I can live with a black/grey with hints of purple/yellow. And I always liked the ninja vibe to Batman (and family), with guantlets, cowl with hood-like features, long and pointy cape etc.

I loved his work on the "Savage Tales" books, and his Tarzan cover illustrations......

Completely agree about the new design, although I'm not a big fan of Jim Lee's initial degisn either, always more of a blue / black yellow man myself, the purple always seemed out of place.

Back on topic. What's your number one concern about the batsuit? I'm afraid it will look puffy or otherwise bulky in motion.

I guess it would be how he wears the cape whilst fighting. If the cape covers his arms, will it limit his arm movements? Or will he do the 'folded back on shoulders' thing each time he's fighting?

That, and Bat-neck.

Dina Meyer actually wore a variation of that costume on the short-lived TV series Birds of Prey.
