Emotion.
Magneto's character Journey.
Raven's character journey.

Stakes.
Cuban Missile Crisis which had Magneto wiped out the fleet would have started World War 3.

Days of Future Past is pretty much the best movie of the bunch. That's not new movie talk/hype, it's plain honesty.

It's the Cap America 2 of the X-Movies, and I adored that it had a spiritual F--- You to X3.

I think DoFP is miles better than Cap 2 (and so is FC). I thought Cap 2 was 'good' but no more than that. A very overrated movie, Marvel hype gone mad.

Would have started, sure.

But in DOFP, mutants were already in the brink of extinction and I say what the mutants and the society were dealing with the Sentinels might have been worse than what would have happened if the mutants didn't play a card on the Cuban Missile Crisis. Well thats just my opinion.

Also the character journey for Xavier/Mystique and the rest of the cast is much stronger in this movie.

What is worse, a nuclear world war which essentially wipes out everyone (**** knows why Shaw wanted that) or a future shown in DoFP?

A nuclear world war could have been worse, but we can only imagine that. While DOFP not only explained what will happen if they didn't succeed, but they also showed us the impact and what would have happened, if Mystique killed Trask. And whats the message of First Class? DOFP has a stronger message, that the future is not true really set unless you try to make a change and be a better person and thats what great about this movie.

And I just find the story more compelling, the fact that this movie doesn't have a definitive villain and they are actually trying to stop the creator of the Sentinels from being killed so the Sentinels wouldn't rule the future is quite unique.

Where as I need that central villain especially one with strong ties to the hero (Shaw/Eric).
I can see why you prefer DoFP but FC had more of what I want in a movie.

Not going to answer this one until seeing DOFP for a second time but at least now X2 has a rival in my eyes and could "possibly" be surpassed, but either way at least we have a film which is good enough to be considered up there with it.

Its SO hard to choose one at the moment, X2 has been a special movie in my heart since it came out, loved it from the 1st moment I saw it, but after DOFP tonight and being amazed by it, I feel that should be number 1, and in so many ways it is.

But I want to see it a 2nd time before voting just to make sure. So DOFP and X2 are currently tied with FC not far behind.

If FC make a good sequel (not even great, just good) then it will become my favorite CBM trilogy of all time. That is currently The Dark Knight trilogy but there I think there is 1 'great' movie and 2 'good' movies. With FC I think they have 2 'great' movies so a good 3rd movie would tip the balance for me.

X2 remains my fave. DOFP was excellent but overall I liked the smaller scale and team aspect of X2.

DOFP comes second, pretty much the same ratings as Kasjan

I spent all week re-watching the X1-3 & FC to get caught up on everything again. With all that fresh in my mind it helped make DoFP the best X-Men yet in my opinion. In it's own right it's a really good movie, but what helps solidify what's great about it is the fact that it has the foundation of all those previous X-Men movies to work off of (both good and bad elements).

X2 (it can change over the weekend), my explanation is simple, X2 is an amazing movie, and while Days of Future Past is truly amazing, it has that burden of the lesser X movies to fix, other than that it's practically a tie, but hey you're the one making the rules.

It's so hard.

Yes, If I was unbiased I would likely have this tied with X2 as the best movie. But it's hard. I just love the Rogue/Wolverine stuff in X-Men so much that I have an attachment to probably X-Men the most cause thats what got me into Comic Books when i saw it for the first time in 2002. Yes, i never saw X-Men in theaters. Caught it on DVD a few years later. And it got me into comics and everything.

So i think some of you get why that will always be high up on my list. The First X-Men movie and I may even say that is my favorite of the films. But If i looked at it from a critical perspective. Yes, It may well be the best X film to date. X2 probably still get's my vote when looking at it from a critical perspective but it's close.

It's interesting to see First Class getting a lot of love. I dig it. However I do have to go with Days of Future Past. It's a story I never thought I'd see in the movies and Singer and company's interpretation of it hit all the right notes for me. The political scenes felt more authentic in DOFP than in First Class, I think it was how the shots were framed and the lighting mostly. In the end I love all three but I have to give it to DOFP.

And how awesome was it hearing Ottman's theme again?! I think he even incorporated a little bit of the flavor of Kamen's score from X-Men 1.

The Last Stand

I wasn't feeling DOFP all that much. I don't think it's better than Captain America 2. I'm not really sure if it's better than The Last Stand, I just put it above Last Stand going off my residual dislike for some parts of that film from what I can remember of it. That's not to say that DOFP was a bad film. The scope was ambitious, the special effects and action well done. But coming down the stretch I wasn't that bowled over by the death scenes and I didn't get Magneto and Mystique's actions during the big climax. I also had mixed feelings over the use of Wolverine in the film. I didn't want him to dominate the film, but I found it odd how they got him out of the way and kept him out of the way during the climax.

I am going to have to do some thinking on which one i like bettr-DOFP or X2.

With the ending I am also going to have to reconsider my feelings on FC and
X-Men.

DOFP. X2 is better as a construct and I love that movie, but DOFP won me over. I can easily ignore its shortcomings, it is so effective and emotionally strong, not to mention emotionally rewarding. Time will tell if my opinion holds.
