It's funny, it's like Singer literally went back in time and truly fixed things to the way they were supposed to be since X2 ended back in 03. I hope he doesn't go anywhere for awhile.

I agree. He gets 'his version' of the X-Men as well as anyone ever has.

I just wish I liked 'his version' more.

Yes. I think he's decidedly a better director. At least I personally am more in line with his style and it suits my taste more than Singer who can get a bit heavy handed in hammering home an idea he wants to show(look no further than the X2 'coming out' scene for an example of that).

Agreed.
I watched FC yesterday and DoFP on Thursday and I thought FC was a much better movie (although DoFP is a strong effort).

Is Singer confirmed to return for Apocalypse or is that in the air now considering the recent damning allegations against him that he's in the midst of settling?

My reflection on the franchise.

Bryan Singer's ''X-Men: Days of Future Past'' is everything I hoped for.
I feel like for a while, it was the ''cool thing'' to hate on the series. We got some pretty cruddy films in the series, after all.
This film brings it back to the days of X2. It was fun and played out well.
Again, some complain about the series, but they got their **** together and made it work. They had a big issue on their hands and I congratulate Singer and co. for coming up with a creative way to ''fix'' past mistakes. That is one task I am glad I didn't have to take on. I couldn't imagine the pressure.
Of course, there are little cracks here and there, but if you can't look past that, you shouldn't be watching any films/tv shows at all. It happens.
They came up with a way to intertwine both the old cast and the new one.
I will be the first to admit, I was pretty much done with this series. I was well ready for a total reboot, until I saw this. This film really brought back my love and excitement for the series. I haven't been this excited for the X films since after X2 and leading into X3. It's the longest series of comic films and a series I grew up on. A series a lot of us grew up on.
Now I'm glad I don't have to let go of this film series. They ''rebooted'' it without rebooting it. They're smart. They have an established cast that includes some of the biggest stars of the now. (Jen Lawrence, Hugh, Fassbender, Mcavoy etc). With a real reboot, we probably wouldn't get that. And I think it would be a little sad to let go of the cast right now.
And the last thing I have to say applies to any comic franchise. People always say, ''well, its not like the comics. That didn't happen. etc etc''
Think of the films as just another alternate storyline. Much like the Ultimate series or an Elseworlds story that just borrows from pre-existing ones. As long as character traits are in tact and they dont act vastly different, it's all good. The writers are just basically writing another comic story, just for the big screen. Not to mention there is YEARS of stories and issues, not every character is going to get a fully fleshed out back story.
In conclusion, It's not a perfect series and some may find it a it gimmicky how they handled it, but I love it. I for one cannot wait for X-Men: Apocalypse and for what ever future sequels we get.
(Cant believe I'm saying this) Good job, Fox.

If he can't return than MV returning and a return to purely the FC cast would make me very happy indeed. Actually, I'd prefer that even if Singer were available.

John Ottman deserves kudos as well; he wore two crucial hats for this one himself - editor and composer.

Yeah, that's crazy. Didn't even know he was an editor until the credit flashed. Kudos to him - the pacing was one of the film's strongest suits I thought.

Well he was.

Now...for obvious reasons it is up in the air. I am sure that he will at least produce and have a story credit. But while Vaughn has still made, IMO, the best X-Men movie to date, Singer really I think has a better handle on the universe as a whole. And after seeing him knock it out of the park again, I kind of wish he would just stay on for the next film. But it could go either way.

At the London Premiere, Lauren Shuller-Donner said Bryan Singer is the director for X-men: Apocalypse. This was long after allegations were already out.

Since Singer is still pretty much incognito despite the fact that DOFP opens this week, I'm assuming that Fox is ordering him to stay low so he won't attract any attention to himself despite the fact that he's the director of this movie. I do wonder if it means Fox is abandoning him and letting him twisting in the wind while the legal case is still proceeding.

I'll take that crap over "Have you ever tried not being a mutant" any day of the week. But both bits suck. I will say that Kick-Ass I find to easily be better than every X-Men film ever made(yes, DoFP included). XMFC is probably Vaughn's worst movie and it's still right on par with Singer's X2(among his best films). At least that's how I see it.

Considering the guy making allegations was found to be lying under oath I think it's safe to say Bryan will be directing the next movie with no problems.
