DOFP is full of these little, fantastic touches. It's like X2 on steroids.

I liked the way how Trask said "nonono, don't kill it!" when Mystique's cover was blown. Also the shot where Mystique as Trask goes by the secretary, beautiful shot. So much stuff.

It had to be the way the film opened, very similar to how the first two opened. It just screamed BRYAN SINGER IS BAAAAACK!!! And the return of the X door closing, unlocking and opening again... GREAT

Add to that the X2 score also. But I have to say, I never thought it was a great score. It was good. But having it back was nostalgic. Like coming home

I loved Blink's hair and the way it bounced around.

i can't get kitty focusing with the wounds on her side out of my mind. It reminded me of Astonishing x-men when she had to phase the bullet through Earth ....

I really liked Storm and Magneto addressing Bobby by his name. It showed a mutual respect and, with just a bit of dialogue, boosted him to up to a top tier X-Man.

I guess all of that isn't really a "small thing" but YES! All of this was so amazing! Quick and short moments that really meant a lot. It's why I can't be too mad about McKellen being underused; his few moments were amazing!

Another thing appreciated was the detail of Blink's portals. Her scenes played by so quick that I feel like a large part of the audience probably didn't really get what was going on but there were so many little details. All of the images shown through the portals and what was going on... definitely needs some freeze-framing and slowing down on the dvd to appreciate I think.

I just watched the first X-Men again and I love how Charles to his younger self said we need you to hope again. Brings it back to full circle where Charles was still trying to find hope in Magneto after Jean discussing mutant issues with the senate. A very strong theme that runs through the X-Men movies. Especially in regards to Xavier.

"Ah yes...your continuing search for hope"

(sidenote: a lot of superhero movies lately about hope: TDKR, MOS, TASM2, DOFP)

I watching X1 last night and the 1st conversation of Prof X/Magneto has something to do with hope.

"I'll bring you hope, Charles" - Magneto

I love that this thread was started. I am so happy Bryan is back... his attention to detail is something that has been lacking for a while now.

I'll think of more, but one off the top of my head was when Mystique enters the mutant barracks posed as the colonel... after saying something, she clears her throat a bit because she realized she sounded too girly.

Oh, and Logan waking up on the waterbed lol!

When Young Charles read Logan's mind and saw all the Jean stuff, when he saw Logan killing Jean the scene from X3, Jean when she got stabbed she screamed, in X3 she doesn't scream before she died.

I really, really like the X eye-scanner on Cerebro. I was rewatching X1 and realized they didn't have that. Don't remember about X2 and X3 but I'm glad they put that in there. They also cut out this awesome shot where there is an X on Charles face and then the blue X expands out to illuminate his whole face from the first trailer. I really dug that image, wish that it had made the final cut.

I thought it was cool how when Trask described Mystique's capabilities to the President in the Oval Office, Trask tells him that she could take any shape including that of a colonel, a secret service agent, and even the President himself. That's the order of the key shapes she takes on during the film. Pretty clever

The small thing I liked was they didn't over explain anything. Specifically when they used the X-Jet engine to create a huge explosion.

You can imagine there would have been a line early in the movie saying "btw our new jet has a nuclear powered warp drive not that this will be important later." Audiences are familiar with these kinds of things and I'm glad Hollywood is starting to realize this.
That was part of the leaked script I read.

That technology was supposed to be the reason why the X-Jet wasn't detectable. Though they probably removed that part when they removed the Rescue Rogue scene.

When the camera did a slo-mo scene of Bobby and Kitty looking each other during the Sentinel fight. Whew!

The way Storm looked back at Magneto when he lifted the jet and she just KNEW what to do.

The cerebro door at the beginning.

An I'd wager a non-American audience. The finer points of Watergate aren't exactly that common knowledge these days!

The whole movie was a bunch of those small things.
If I start I won't stop. I enjoyed it so much, I keep listening to the soundtrack to revive the feel. \m/
