Absolutely. It looks like a bad TV movie and every character is forgettable.

Uber Jason looked hella stupid too.

My opinion of Kubrick is like my opinion of Ridley Scott, you may not like their movies but it is undeniable they have the most incredible eye for visual splendor.

I think the common misconception is that if you don't like the work of a very esteemed auteur whether they be actor or director you're viewed as the crazy one. You like what you like but it gets labeled as you personally just having poor taste.

You definitely feel pressure to come out and plain say, 'I don't like Kubrick/Nolan/Hitchcock'

Truth is I've seen movies like Godfather (movie classics) that did absolutely nothing for me (although I loved Godfather 2) and the reaction is, 'say whaaaaat!'
Like you say, you like what you like.

I have fun watching BATMAN & ROBIN. I was a kid in the 60's. The Batman comics I read were corny camp. I watched Adam West's BATMAN first run. It was corny camp. BATMAN & ROBIN reminded me of my childhood. I'm sorry that this apparently destroys the "real" Batman fans (which is funny seeing as how I have been reading Batman longer than any one else that's a regular poster on here)....but the history of Batman is of a character that has gone through many variations.

But see, I think that's exactly what Schumacher wanted to do with Batman & Robin. I kinda liked the movie when I was a kid, but I think it's pretty terrible now. However, that's what the movie tried to do, evoke some of that campy stuff from the Adam West show. It just didn't connect with people after two dark versions with Burton.

That's not the issue. At least for me. I enjoy the campy Batman too. I really like the 60s show and Batman: The Brave and the Bold. I even think Batman Forvever is a little too maligned as it has actually felt like beneath the camp Schumacher wanted to make an actual film. But Batman and Robin has none of the wit or charm of these things. It's hollow. It's fake. It lacks any sort of genuine soul. It's so OTT it becomes an absolute chore to sit through. It may be a different story if the film was like, 80-90 minutes. But it's 2hrs. Two whole hours of overly stylized neon, CGI, stupid quips and all around crap.
Schumacher and various cast and crew even admitted the film was a misguided mess and that marketing for the toys played too much of a factor on the DVD if I remember correctly.

You can enjoy it all you want, but before you, an administrator and "big boss" passive aggressively insults people over the film, try to actually understand why people hate it because there is enough criticism out there not to lump everyone into the knee-jerk crybaby camp you elude they are.

Who exactly did I insult? It couldn't be the multiple posters over the years who have told me that if I were a "real" Batman fan I wouldn't like the movie. Could it be the Batman fans who I say it must "destroy" them that I like the movie...because any time I have said I have fun with it they come out of the woodwork (just like above) to say I am wrong and vehemently explain why I shouldn't have my OPINION? I have to assume they are "destroyed" or at least greatly upset over my expressing an opinion of having fun with a movie....otherwise they would simply say "I don't agree with you." and move on. But no....so many of them have to Attack me for my opinion.

Who says I don't? I didn't say that they must love it or burn in hell....I didn't say they must love it or be banned....I said I liked it and that I have been attacked in the past for saying that. I understand perfectly why some people hate it...I don't understand why they have to be so rude when talking to me about it.

I totally understand this opinion. That said, I think the 60's Batman is really entertaining, whereas B&R isn't. The 60s Batman pulls off the camp in a way that is fun, but I find the B&R camp groan inducing at best... it just doesn't have the same spirit. That and all the neon is an eyesore.

Some of my unpopular film opinions:

- The new Godzilla film was boring (all my friends loved it)
- I love watching Batman Returns (I do not know a single other person outside of the internet who does)
- John Carter was a great movie

Whatever dude, you have a history of being sarcastic but because you're an admin you get away with it. You pretty much SAID that you've read Batman longer than most anyone here so you know more and have a more valid opinion. If that's not a passive aggressive insult I don't know what is. If someone else made the EXACT same post you did, you would have called them out for walking the line and to pull it back.

Try to get your accusations straight.....

I will be 57 years old at the end of this month.....no other regular poster on the Hype comes close to my age. I started reading comics at age 5 (this included Batman comics) so I have been reading Batman comics for 52 years...so when I said I had been reading Batman comics longer than anyone else on here, I was simply stating a fact.....also....if you reread my post - this apparently destroys the "real" Batman fans (which is funny seeing as how I have been reading Batman longer than any one else that's a regular poster on here - I was NOT saying "I know more" and thus have a "more valid opinion".....I was expressing my consternation that to some Batman fans my reading 52 years of Batman comics in all types of storylines does not make me a "real" Batman fan. To them, "real" Batman fans apparently only like one type of Batman story.

So get over yourself GremlinZilla....ever since you were infracted you've had a bug up yer behind about the staff. It's getting old.

I'm about to embarrass myself here...I saw this in theatres as a kid and had to leave. Bane looked too freakish for me, which is funny because DeVito's Penguin never bothered me when I was younger.

I find it puzzling that rude comments get more and more responses, instead of just being ignored. I guess I'll have to stop being polite with honest and kind posts, 'cause nobody reads those.

I don't know, it seems about the same to me.

The differnce between B&R and 60's Batman is the humour, innuendo and camp in 60's Batman is intentional.

The pink gorilla costume scene will never grow old. It is funny when you consider that someone wanted to have the villain enter the scene in an absurd costume.

I just think it's funny when he calls people idiots. Unless he's talking to me, then I die a little inside.

The mods will do as they please but if you feel that one is harassing you then bring it up to another admin and ask them to look at it. For the most part there's checks and balances in every system. Also, it's just opinions about fictional characters who like to dress up as animals and beat up crazy and poor people, try not to take it too seriously.

Anywho, back on topic. I don't find the 98 Godzilla that bad. I'm not crazy about it but it's almost on par with some of the worse Godzilla movies I've seen. Love the soundtrack though, it's the best part of it. I would love to have another movie with Destroyah though. I love that one.
