Sometimes the false equivalence strains credibility, and that harms a legitimate argument, which is a shame.

yep you can see his "empowerment" very clearly in that picture.

I don't see how that's a false equivalent at all when one looks at costumes like this that are actually used in comics:

Spoiler!!! Click to Read!:

It is exaggerated for comedic effect, but I wouldn't call it a false equivalent by any means.

This/\. I thought we had moved on from this? Seems people want to hijack this thread at every chance.

Powergirl has been portrayed like that for a long time. Other female hereos aren't necessarily drawn as scantily clad as that.

It was a joke that people are taking far too seriously...

Posting a picture of someone with an unnecessary cleavage window isn't helping your case though.

And again I put that picture up in jest.

I don't see it as any different from having a male appear shirtless with a clear bulge being shown downstairs.

If you defend Wonder Woman classic costume, can't see what's wrong with that Batman.

Maybe the mods can ear up all the non-WW costume nonsense. Start another thread about How women are drawn in comics.

Not a bad looking pants costume design. Hopefully they go with the skirt version though.

I'm a big fan of the battle skirt but this is nice. Very nice, indeed.

Oh yes? It is also irrelevant. It bears no relation to the overtly fetishistic costume that Batman was depicted as wearing in the other picture.

In does because that Batman costume is a parallel to the likes of the one I posted.

No, it isn't.

I dislike the WW picture, because it is drawn from an exploitative angle, and the costume (which is rather meagre anyway) appears to have conveniently shrunk in the wash. All the same, it is WW wearing a variant on the costume she has always had.

The Batman image, however, shows Batman wearing something quite different from any incarnation of his usual costume. The heeled thigh-high boots, exposed nipples etc are simply articles of fetish wear that have nothing to do with the character. The image doesn't offend me in the least, and I find it rather amusing, but it is in effect similar to drawing one of these characters performing a sexual act- it is a subversion intended for effect.

So the equivalence is false, and pretending otherwise makes an otherwise sensible and legitimate argument seem silly and ill-considered.

I disagree.

The Batman costume is simply a jest. A take on his costume considering the same parameters female costumes are subject to. That is, showing a lot of skin, making them more of a sex object then a character. Wonder Woman is just a one if a list of many.

Also, with Wonder Woman costume, every angle is "exploitative"
