Well SHE likes it, but no. It miraculously only covers about 25% of her backside. The bra is a nice start as an underpinning, but it looks like she shoved over-sized metallic party-favors on her forearms to approximate Wondy's gauntlets.

Lol, why are you critiquing it? It's clearly not supposed to be a "serious" take on the costume. Probably just a sexy party outfit of sorts.

I'm hoping we get a WW costume reveal before San Diego...and a SM reveal...and then a Trinity reveal in full costumed glory at comic con.

It could take more impact to show the pics of WW and Supes on SDCC. Probably to happen.

If that's the case, then I wonder why they went ahead and revealed the Batsuit and Batmobile already? That's a pretty big deal, especially given WHAT the costume looks like.

They wanted positive talk from the fans. Before the Batsuit reveal almost everyone were attacking DC,WB and trolling Ben and casting it was insane. the Batsuit did a massive work erasing most of the negativity.

So yeah.. usually no one show outfits this early (it is an 2016 movie) but they had to do it with the Batsuit so they take negativity away. it is as simple as that.

Or is it? No, it's not. But much of the same arguments used in defence of the classic costume could be used here. Deh enpowerment and it's grounded on the past:

Looks like a fake take on Italian renaissance painting on a wall, of ladies working out Roman style. Doesn't appear to be Greek or Thymescrian.

Themyscira doesn't look greek.

By the way, it's a late roman mosaic.

Even so, it looks like the women are not exactly in fighting mode. If WW wants to wear these outfits lounging at home, fine. But I don't think the clothes were made for the battlefield.

Nope, that costume was an attempt by a corporation to use sex to sell a comic. It worked too, and became iconic. And since WW is now pretty much invulnerable, I guess it doesn't matter what she wears. But I'm a fan of the Greek battle dress look.

Yep and has served her well for almost 70 years. But there is much more to WW than battles. In fact she is rarely in battles. She makes short work of most of her one on one hand to hand combats. But I doubt we will see it in the movie. Probably a battle skirt to protect the modesty of some fans.

Outside fantasy fiction, there are remarkably few instances of women actively fighting in battle prior to the invention of gunpowder. I cannot think of any contemporary depictions of a factual example of such an instance. So almost any depiction of what ancient fighting kit belonging to a woman would look like has to be largely based on speculation.

I think the standard Macedonian cuirass of the antique period works conveniently well for either gender, and is therefore a good basis.

I'm probably the least modest person I know. I'm no prude, trust me. That said, the classic costume was absolutely designed to titillate. The main reason (like 99.9% of the reason) I support a battle skirt is it's a fierce warrior look that I believe will translate perfectly into live-action. No one will crack jokes about it.

Btw, when talking to my niece and her young friends, they do not take the classic costume seriously. It is what it is.

I do support keeping the iconic classic costume alive...possibly in the upcoming Sensation WW book. I think the canon nu52 should eventually use whatever WW costume shows up in BvS. If that's the classic look, so be it. I'll even keep an open mind that maybe it can look great in the movies. Perfectly fine if I'm proven wrong.

Agreed. We seem to have similar opinions on this.

Yep, the posts of yours I've read on this and other topics indicate we're on a similar wavelength (even if I do plan to steal your husband, lol). Btw, I try to do my best to not sound like I'm bashing the classic costume. I totally understand how special it is to many, many longtime fans. That's why I don't want to see it disappear entirely (as I mentioned, they can use it for one of her books). But I just feel WW is finally getting her chance to shine on the silver screen, and a lot is riding on BvS and JL. How WB depicts her determines if the public embraces/respects the character, or if they keep saying she's campy and cheesy, etc.

And regardless of the leaked schedule yesterday, I believe the only way WW actually gets a solo movie is if Gal impresses and stands out in the ensemble films. Otherwise, WW fans are back to square one.

I think the concept of Wonder Woman, and her place in pop-culture history, mean that she is too big an entity to be excluded in the long run. I really don't think you could have a Justice League without her.* Compare that to characters like Hal Jordan, who is probably a busted flush after one disastrous movie.

* I know there have been many Justice Leagues that did not include Wonder Woman, but I am referring to the "default" setup.
