Here's an article/retrospective of the Prince soundtrack.

It maybe a dated album but I still enjoy listening to it from time to time.

Happy 25th Batman '89!!

Man, I wish I was around for this movie... I missed out on some crazy hype. Oh well, I always have the movie itself. Still one of my favourite movie of all time with incredible re-watchability.

Here's hoping WB does something special with that 25th anniversary Blu-Ray release later this year.

Happy 25th! Such a monumental, important comic book film.

To those interested, the fine folks over at Modern Myth Media just posted a podcast/commentary.

It's crazy how much time has gone by. I was just posting on a friends Facebook post about how great the lead up to the movie was. It was on this level of excitement that I haven't seen for a CBM before. TDK was close, but it still wasn't on the same level of hysteria that B89. It was nuts!

I still have the VHS of this movie too. It was how I saw it for the first time. I can't believe it's been 25 years. I intend to watch it at some point today.

Wow 25 years....

I'm watching all the special features on the blu-ray, don't know if I'll get to the film today, but the documentaries are awesome alone.

I remember wearing out my VHS of B89. That when I tried to watch it again (back in '98') the black tape strip started coming out. So I couldn't play the tape anymore. And had to buy the dvd (without the special features and with the poor transfer), which took 3 years for me to make a move and purchase.

I wore mine out before BR came out.

I think I got my second VHS version from McDonalds, when they would randomly sell movies.

This also has my favourite ending of any Batman movie... There's something so other-worldly about it.

Even Bruce Timm & Co did that in MOTP. One of the best scenes in a Batman film.

Epic ending indeed. That entire moment alone is why Anton Furst deserved the Oscar win for art direction.

Heh, can't look at Kane's gifs without "Finale" popping in my head. To me that cue makes that sequence what it is way more than the visuals even.

I feel like the ending is a little out of place for such a character and movie; it's a little too heroic.

Triumphant is the word I'd use to describe it. I mean, I think it fits. It was a pretty triumphant ending, he saved Gotham and managed to avenge his parents in one fell swoop, and established himself as Gotham's hero to be called on in times of need. But there's always that touch of darkness in his soul. The Finale cue communicates all of that to me.
